I given this to treat a URI and it actually did more harm than good. I had an allergic reaction to this medication, stay away if you are allergic to Penicillin. This gave me hives, breathing problems and a fever. After this episode the next day I had to go back to the Doctors for the allergic reaction and to get new medication anyways.

However, I was recently prescribed a generic form and within one week had localized migraine with Horner's syndrome (droopy eyelid with unequal pupil reaction). MRI, CT, CAT scan all negative. Office visit with ophthalmologist, neurosurgeon, ER treatment, overnight stay in the hospital and no one associated my symptoms with Keflex. I am stop ... Show Full Comment

Comment:
This drug is very dangerous. I had a relatively minor corrective operation on a toe and was given this presumably as a prophylactic to prevent post-op infection. 1st dose, 1 hour after food, within 30 minutes starting itching all over, hives, rapid heartbeat, tried to get up and passed out momentarily. Symptoms subsided within 30 minutes. There are too many other antibiotics out there to risk this ... Show Full Comment
