After a terrible experience with fluoxetine in the past, I was hesitant to try any other SSRIs, but lexapro has been a real life saver. I started taking it for depression and GAD, and about a month after I got up to 20mg/day, it finally kicked in and I feel amazing. It worked for less than a year for me. During that time, I gained 30 lbs. taking it. Ive been off it for 4 months not & have finally lost the weight. I could not find any side effect of weight gain in the side effect listing.

Lexapro worked for me when Celexa pooped out. Unfortunately it, too, pooped out after about 1.5 years and withdrawal is AWFUL. My suggestion if you are weaning off it is to wean off it and add some Celexa, which is very similar and much easier to get off of.
