I'm Bipolar but also with an anxiety disorder. I go to the guidance center for treatment and they decided to stop prescribing Xanax ( and all medications like it, because of their addictive nature) even to those of us who truly need it and don't abuse it. As you can see I am not happy with their desicion. However, My dr. decided to put me on Vistaril 25 Mg X3 a day to combat my anxiety. The medica...

If your Dr. suggests this drug, walk out and go to a new Dr.;The Dr. here is a Veterinarian! Of all the choices, the person prescribing this should be ashamed and go back to school.

I was prescribed this for mild anxiety attacks, it did take care of my attacks, but only because it made me feel like a zombie!! Of course I wouldn't have an anxiety\panic attack in that condition. I couldn't play and interact with my child, and I was to lazy feeling to complete even a thought most of the time. I would refuse to accept this medicine under any circumstances. Its awful!!

All it did was put me to sleep. Perfect cure for anxiety, sleep. But not all of us can just sleep whenever we feel like it.....

It was used to enhance the effectiveness of pain medication. I was in severe nerve pain due to a herniated cervical disc.

I take this drug (50mg) on an "as needed" basis and it has worked beautifully! I also like it because it is non-habit forming! Always a plus! I always make sure that I have them handy, at the lake, at home, in my car and at the office.

I was prescribed this medication to take with another or own it's own to help with my migraines. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't always put me to sleep either. I have now increased the dosage to 100mg (per the doctor). Hopefully that works better.

Vistaril seems to only make me feel sleepy for about 20 minutes, then I am back where I was before. I have been taking it for about 4 months now and am having to find other ways to deal with my anxiety. I was on Klonopins for two years, then I got another primary care physician and she didn't want me to be on those. They worked just fine. When I take the medication, the following side effects are extremely prevalent: Itching, Head Pain, Throat Dryness, Excessive Sweating, and my throat feels like it is about to close. Not too satisfied with this Drug. Read More Read Less
