I'm Bipolar but also with an anxiety disorder. I go to the guidance center for treatment and they decided to stop prescribing Xanax ( and all medications like it, because of their addictive nature) even to those of us who truly need it and don't abuse it. As you can see I am not happy with their desicion. However, My dr. decided to put me on Vistaril 25 Mg X3 a day to combat my anxiety. The medica...

If your Dr. suggests this drug, walk out and go to a new Dr.;The Dr. here is a Veterinarian! Of all the choices, the person prescribing this should be ashamed and go back to school.

I started this med 25 mg at bedtime to help with sleep and irritablity. it helped for the first few weeks by making me slep better and not giving me a groogy feeling in the morning. It doesnt seem to be as helpful now but its probably time to up the dose.

Worked the first couple of times I took it, now it does absolutley nothing for my anxiousness. I have begged the doctor for something else, but he won't listen.

I was given 50mg pills for every six hours for preterm contractions. It does stop the contractions for the most part, but it gives me headaches and makes staying asleep difficult.

When I am on this it makes me feel very tired and fuzzy. I take it before I go to bed. I sleep poorly, and when I get up I often have a hangover or feel groggy and unable to focus. I don't think I want to take it again. I also still have panic attacks.

I was prescribed this medication to increase the effectiveness of my pain medication after surgery. I had to pack a very deep wound three times a day after my surgery and would become so anxious before hand that it would become an ordeal (and incredibly painful). This was prescribed to help put me at ease before my poor mother had to pack, clean, and repack my wound. I can honestly say that it basically just made you feel like you had a glass of wine, and this was taken along with a narcotic pain reliever. So, you can imagine the effectiveness if taken alone. If you have severe panic attacks or anxiety I would suggest talking to your doctor about taking something significantly stronger. I even doubled the dose, and it just made me feel as though I was on my second glass of wine, which may work for some, but not me.Read More Read Less

I was given vistaril to help with the itching of a yeast infection. It would take the edge off the itch, but more so it calmed me down so I could cope with the itch.

This has helped my anxiety and panic attacks so much. I was addicted to xanax so this is a great alternative. You may feel a little sleepy but that is because you are taking an anti anxiety medication. It calms you down. I take it when needed 50mg
