The applicator work just great for me. It helps me get it up there. I sanitize it after each use. Lots of comments about the applicator being impossible to clean. The applicator can be pulled apart into two seperate pieces. Then, put back together after cleaning. I guess some women are not aware of that. The medication is supposed to seep down and coat the vagina. That is a good thing. I use panty liners, so it's not a big deal. Vaginal health is what I care about the most. I have more lubrication and my sexual response is better. I use Estrace for vaginal health. I use an over-the-counter wild yam cream for hot flashes, memory and sleep. =)Read More Read Less

First off, previous reviews have misinformation. 1-No, you do NOT need to take a progesterone with it because this is a cream. You need to take a progesterone when you are taking oral estrogen and still have a uterus. 2-This medication does not work right away. It typically takes up to 6 weeks to see an improvement, so keep that in mind! It is NOT an overnight fix. That being said......I despise this medication! It is way too messy and I feel like a stuffed cream doughnut! GROSS! I'm still just on the initial 2 week dosing of using it nightly so I can't say if it is working yet or not. It's just too soon. But, I feel like I'm filling myself up with cream at night and then it is constantly oozing out the entire next day ruining my underwear. I have such pelvic pressure and heaviness. Plus it is $80 per tube. What a rip off, but to be expected since it is for women and for menopause. No one cares about women's health issues. I would love to try Vagifem instead but can only imagine how expensive that must be. I don't know if this is really worth it yet, we'll see. I hope this mess improves once this nightly dose for 2 weeks changes to only twice a week dosing. If this was a man's problem there'd be better options. Read More Read Less

So far I have not used this consistently because I cannot clean the applicator thoroughly, and I cannot stand the medication leaking out of my vagina all day long, it is so nasty. Is there anywhere else I can rub it on my body topically without using the applicator?

Works for a few weeks, and then stops being effective. Open new tube, and same experience. Short shelf life. Never had this problem with other brands of the medication.

I’m not sure I’ll ever find out if this medication works for me, because it’s so disgusting to use. It leaks out, gets crusty on my pubic hair, and makes my lady parts look medical and gross. Making matters worse, the applicator is totally unhygienic. It is meant to be re-used dozens of times, but is impossible to clean properly. I hate plastic waste, so I don’t mind if it is reusable if it is designed to be cleaned. I can’t think of any other medical product that doesn’t have single-use applicators or other accessories that touch fluids. It’s actually pretty insulting, now that I think of it. First off, the applicator should be disposable. It is impossible to get clean. Secondly, severe backache in the morning after each use the night before. Not sure the vaginal health benefits outweigh the debilitating back pain.

This is my third round of Estrace vaginal cream over the past 10 years. It is so awfully messy, a man must have invented it or someone who doesn't have to use it. They need to make individual pre-measured applicators. Who wants to wash the applicator after each use? Gross. Seems made for infections to me. Anyway, this time I have been prescribes 2mg, 3x week. This is my third week and the dryness and itching and burning has not improved ANY. It is $269 for one 42gm tube -- too much. Especially since it doesn't work. I am very disappointed.Read More Read Less

This medication (cream form) changed my sex drive completely! I am 65 years old and after the menopause my libido decreased tremendously! Now after using the cream I feel like 30 again. My only complaint is the applicator is not disposable. Does anyone knows where to buy disposable applicators?

Had to stop taking hormone pills after a small stroke and intercourse became extremely painful. Over the counter creams just made a mess and didn't work. My obgyn said this wouldn't interfere with my high blood pressure meds and prescribed a small daily dose. Have had no side effects and after a few weeks intercourse was again pleasurable not painful. I am 71.

The doctor actually prescribed this for possible yeast infection and dryness around the vagina. I an 71 and haven't been in menopause for 26 years!! Only one applicator was included with the cream. Directed to wash the applicator after each use. Impossible to clean properly. Even with their instructions, and following them exactly. Nasty, very nasty. Increased the germs in my vagina. Used it twice, and it made everything worse. Forget the use of this product!! Also this review page should allow for proper age choice. Read More Read Less

Have been using 2x a week for a month now. Burning, irritation, feels like I have a UTI. Ironically, I started taking it for recurrent UTIs. Does it take a while to build up the vaginal walls to stop the burning? I had so much hope for this product and it was very expensive, so I want it to work!

I have used Mylan generic estrace cream for approximately four months requiring my prescription to be filled two times. Neither tube contained enough cream to last the amount of time prescribed. I talked to my pharmacy to be sure that I was measuring correctly. He con firmed I was measuring correctly. It appears the tube does not contain 42.5g as stated on the tube.

Used for vaginal atrophy and painful intercourse. Dr prescribed to use daily for 10 days and then twice a day to maintain. I started with using twice a week with half the dose to hopes to avoid side effects. Felt better within a week but didn't get full relief until 2 months of use. Also stopped hot flashes, brain fog and menopausal anxiety and depression! I like that this is bio identical estrogen. I got a thumbs up for use by my compound pharmacist. I use a finger cot and apply vaginally without the use of the applicator. I rubbed what is left after insertion on my labia. Please use a bio identical progesterone with this if you have a uterus. Without progesterone cream you can increase the chance of cancer. Progesterone cream is available over the counter and can be purchased on Amazon. Read More Read Less

The drug is fine. It's just too expensive and I can no longer afford to use it. SHAME ON THE DRUG COMPANY FOR THIS APPARENT PRICE GOUGING... I PRAY FOR A GENERIC VERSION SOON.

Estrace has worked for me. no more itching and vaginal dryness has improved greatly. Cost is not affordable. My doc called a compound pharmacy and I was able to get a sub for only $45.00.

The morning after use I woke up with my throat filling swollen and no voice.I call Dr.to see if this could have caused allergic reaction & was told they had not heard of that happening. I then Developed severe sinus type headache within 2 days and a heavy feeling in the chest. After 6 weeks and a recheck with minimal results.....Still had the inflammation I was told it needed to be used as directed for maintenance. Once again asked about voice loss same answer...I found online where that can be a side effect and asked pharmacist..She looked it up & found 3% of people have loss of voice or vocal problem reactions as well as the sinus type headache and upper respiratory. I quit taking it and will search for something else. Also my hair seemed to be thinner found loss of hair...I will find out if that is symptom too...Read More Read Less

Since I started using Estrace, I've begun having serious urinary incontinence, and I can no longer sleep through the night. I went to a Kegel exercise therapist -- the incontinence got worse. This seems to be the opposite of what should happen; has it happened to anyone else?
