I experienced severe edema and fluid leakage from my lower legs. My skin was breaking down and my calves were covered in blisters and ulcers. At hospital I was given Lasix as an IV along with antibiotics. My script was for a 20mg dose of furosemide once daily. The results were unbelievable! Within 5 days my condition was in full blown reversal. Oh, I urinated a lot...every hour or so. The fluid st...

This is the first time using this brand. I have used a different brand before that just a half pill would work immediately. This has not done a thing.

Had severe ankle and overall body swelling. Prescription was to take 3 times per week, M-W-F. It worked with the very first pill. I do notice occasional dizziness and low blood pressure. I had two knee and one hip replacement in 11 months that I attribute for the poor body fluid balance. Doctor never confirmed my supposition.

I am a 53 year old male who has been HIV+ for the past 25 years as well as Hepatitis C for at least 18 years. Recently my lower limbs began to swell, my doctor prescribed 10mg of Furosemiede. I have beeen taking the prescription for a week and to no avail. My Testicles swelled and my legs are still swollen.

my feet and legs swelled uncomfortably, after 2 days of 20 mg once a day - all was good again. I didn't have any side effects, but was on it for only a short time.

My husband has been taking this med for some time now and he still has swollen legs especially in the right. Last night he went to the ER and they found a hernia in stomach blocking his small intestine and they drained his stomach and his legs went back to normal. Now I hope the confusion will go away, because he is not going to take this medication anymore, I'm throwing it away. P.S. His stomach also went down he doesn't look pregnant anymore ether.

My husband is taking 40mg every day. However, he still has excessive fluid retention and his doctor wants him to take double that amount. I am concerned about him taking that much. What is the maximum dose for this medication?

I am taking this medication for edema in both ankles but especially the right. I have been to many specialists to find the cause and no one seems to know why I have the edema. As a result, my pressure has gone up. The label says its a powerful diuretic - I don't think so. I do go quite a bit 1 hour after taking it and a couple of time after that, but by mid-day, the urinating tapers off. My ankles still swell, especially during "that time of the month".

On 120mg for edema/CHF taken in one dose before 3PM (am a teacher, can't hold it and can't just take off) Usually works - not always. Not sure if Furosemide is cause or something else, but get severe, very painful cramping in feet, legs, and hands - usually in evening or night.

I know that I doubt that anyone wants to take diuretics, this medication had saved my bacon several times, with congestive heart failure. I've become accustomed to the constant urination; which is preferabe to the final drowning and death.

It took 3-4 days for it to start working for me, so I was starting to get depressed & discouraged & wanting to switch to something else... until after about the fourth or fifth day of weighing myself EVERY TIME after peeing (literally), I finally started to notice a slow drop in weight! I decided to stick with this medicine & it started working very good for me...so please don't get discouraged if taking this medication.

I have been taking this drug for 10 yrs. I started out taking 40mg but I now take 80mg. For some reason after a while the medication stops working for a up to 3 weeks and then starts to work again. Because of this problem, my Dr has put me on spironolactone 25mg along with the furosemide to see if that will help my problem.

While Furosemide may be of help to me, I find that it does not do for me what I have anticipated it is going to do and would like to have access to a different remedy which would be more effective. Currently, my Care Provider at thee V.A. has prescribed this for me.
