These reviews are depressing! While in college a friend recommended Loestrin to me and I've been on its generic ever since, over 10 years now. I had a child in 2005 and continued Microgestin awhile after that. I've been completely satisfied with the product. No weight gain or spotting, no extraordinary moodiness or nausea, very little cramps if I've been exercising and eating right, and my libi...

My ob/gyn put me on this medication after taking out my IUD (mirena). I had the mirena for about 6 years and the last couple of years were pretty bad. So, I decided to change birth control method, so I got the Microgestin FE 1.5/30 prescribed. I thought it was gonna help with the acne and loss of sex drive that the mirena started causing those last couple of years, but since I have been on this pi...

Switched to this pill because of breakthrough bleeding on some others and I cannot wait to stop taking this pill, I've had so many side effects - rapid weight gain, very sore breasts, extreme mood swings - mostly sadness and crying/depression, I feel terrible about myself and completley unattractive because of the weight gain which is mostly in my stomach, I feel like I constantly have very bad PMS. I also have noticed vaginal dryness which I didn't connectc to the pill until reading some other reviews of women with the same issue. I haven't had acne problems or issues with breakthrough bleeding on this pill but I am very tired all the time and just don't feel very happy. Everyone reacts differently but this pill certainly is not working for me and I'm glad to read of others having some of the same issues because I thought I was going crazy, I am going off this pill as soon as possible! I've taken Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 for nearly 2 years and the last two packs I've taken have been HORRIBLE! I had extremely bad pelvic cramping, breast tenderness, a little weight gain, moody, and now I bleed all the time on this pill, even during the active pills. I can't wait to switch to a new pill. This pill used to be great, but I'm wondering if they have switched something in it or if my body is tired of it. Don't take this!

This pill is amazing, i've been on it for years. no problems what so ever with it. no weight gain, no mood swings, no pms, only minimal cramps the days before the period. infact i very rarely have my period which i love, yes at first i was worried about pregnancy but then i got used to the fact that i miss 2 and 3 months at a time.you do cramp a little bit at the time of when the period is supposed to be, just no bleeding.. i recently switched to a different pill in hopes of having more libido, and i hate it, i've been more moody and b*tchy than ever. i am going to be switching back to the Microgestrin Fe. As for libido, i have discovered that it's just me not any kind of pill haha. (And my breasts were alot larger while on Microgestrin Fe!!)Read More Read Less

After my first month on the pill, I developed a yeast infection. I have not been able to clear it up for about 4 months now. My doctor said it wasn't related to taking the pill but I decided to get a second opinion. The next ob I went to said that it could very well be a rare side effect of this pill and advised me to stop taking it. I quit using this pill and took my last dose for the yeast infection one month ago and it has not yet returned. I also experienced extreme bloating, mood swings, missed periods, weight gain (20 lbs in 5 months). I won't ever take this again.Read More Read Less

I started taking this pill after switching off from Ortho try cyclen lo, on which I was bleeding constantly. At firs I was happy, then I started missing my periods. My last period was October, 20th and I haven't had one ever since, even though I stopped taking it a couple of weeks ago. Home pregnancy tests came out negative and so was the one at my annual exam. I do not like it and only hope it will come back soon. I refuse taking the new pill until my period returns. I'm not overly worried yet, but that might change. In terms of affectiveness I always used it together with condoms, so I give it 4 as I'd don't know how it would work on it's own. Read More Read Less

I am on the last week of my third pack of these pills. I switched from Ortho TriCylen Lo because I started having a lot of breakthrough bleeding on it so my doctor prescribed me to this monophasic pill. The first two months of this pill were good. The first month I was pretty moody the week before my period, but was happy that it made my period lighter and shorter. The second month it was even better. Right now, my period is 4 days late - i'm sure it's just my body still adjusting, but I hope this doesn't happen often. I hate missing periods thinking I might be pregnant. I do contribute my period not arriving on time to me taking the pill late a couple of times consecutively this past week. I will continue to take these pills and hopefully my period gets back on track and I take my pills on time!Read More Read Less

I put somewhat effiective on this because I jsut started the pills so Im not 100% how effective they really are. Im into my second week of my pills and I all of a sudden started bleeding out of nowhere. I was on Yaz for a good 3-4 years and never had this issue. Ive broken out on my face this last week and I am extremely moody. Moody to the point where it worries me and who I am around. I want to sleep all day and have no desire to do much of anything. I personally do not like this pill and plan to switch back to Yaz A SAP!Read More Read Less

If your feeling nausious you should take it bf you go to bed. I haven't had any problems yet the only thing is if you miss a dose you will have light spoting, other than that you will always know when your period is going to come on.

The medication was very effective in preventing pregnancy. The side effects were awful for me though. I gained eleven pounds, was constatly bloated, and had frequent mood swings. I would go to the gym for hours and watch my diet but that had no effect on the weight gain. Of course I almost instantly lost it all once I stopped taking this pill. If it wasn't for the weight gain I would still be taking it.

I've been on this for over a year now. I never had mood swings or painful periods prior to taking this. My pharmacy had given me an expired (by 5 months) supply of this and I had gotten pregnant and miscarried, so be sure to check the date on your pill packs 'cuz the pharmacists get busy and things slip their minds. It has worked to control the cysts from my PCOS, but I'm not sure if it's worth it for how it turns me into a raving monster during my periods. I'm trying to get into my doctor's office desperately so I can be switched to something else. Since I've been on it, I've been getting migraines, rashes during my periods, and have developed new food allergies, so I'm hoping after discontinuing it perhaps my body will go back to normal. So far so good. I've been on it for a little over a week, and haven't noticed any weight gain or extreme moodiness. I actually feel like i'm losing weight, though my thighs are a bit swollen since I started taking it. Two main complaints, though we'll see how it pans through... so far it hasn't done anything for my complexion, and it might be responsible for some breaking out, and my hair is growing differently on my face, its harder to manage. Thicker, maybe? I was recommended this birth control because it has iron in it, and I'm severely anemic. We'll see if that helps. Overall, so far so good.Read More Read Less

I had periods with up to 18 days in length, very painful cramps that caused me to black out occasionally and heavy bleeding. i've tried four other B/C pills and have definitely been the happiest with this one.
