I was experiencing very heavy periods with clots. It was awful. My period started coming every 2 weeks. I was losing so much blood I had to get a transfusion. The Aygestin was a Godsend. Bleeding stopped immediately. I've been on it for several weeks now with no apparent side effects.

I have been taking this medication for almost a month now. I started my period the day after I started taking it and it lasted for 11 days. I was off of my period for 4 days and started back again. I started this medicine to help stop the heavy extremely long periods but it has just gotten worse. This dizziness is unbearable !!

I have been on this med for 5 years starting with 10 mg/day. Spotted for first year but my horrible headaches and massive bleeding stopped. Decreased dosage over time to 2.5 mg/day - no perceptible change in how I feel. No side effects. I feel better now at 54 than I did at 35 when all of this started.

I have been taking this medication (along with the Lupron shot); for 6 months to help treat endometriosis. My bleeding has stopped completely, but some of the side effects have really bothered me. I had migraines the first couple months, but they did go away. The biggest side effects are the fatique, muscle aches, and low sex drive.

I have been on aygestin two months now because of not having a period and PCOS. Three days after going off of it the first month, I had a period. My period lasted a normal 5 days with normal flow. I am taking it for the second month right now. The drug has worked well for me, but the convenience isn't the best. You have to understand your cycle and when to start/stop the pill. My gyno reccomends starting day 16 unless you are wanting to get pregnant then start day 18 to give extra time for conception while you are still in the ovulation period. Read More Read Less

I have used this drug in the past with no problems. Only this time around my period still hasn't started. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have PCOS and am trying to get pregnant in order to get some testing done I have to have a period. I am wondering if other medicine I was taking affected this medicine from working properly.

Not 100% sure but starting this medication was the only thing that changed prior to my stroke. I have no family history, normal cholesterol, BP, etc. I started taking this in late November of 2008 and had my stroke on December 6, 2009. Teams of doctors have tried to determine a cause - I am 42 years old.

I'm taking this medication after being on Lupron for some time for treatment of endometriosis. I'm an avid runner and eat healthy however I've noticed about a 10 pound weight gain after only being on this medicine for 1-1/2 months. In addition, I've noticed mild mood swings. However, I have had zero pain and zero bleeding.

This drug has made it possible to avoid having a hysterectomy for a few more months by stopping my abnormal bleeding. However, my fibroids compound the problems and the Aygestin does not slow or shrink their growth.

i was given this medication for abnormal growth in my uterus. I have had no or a very slight period since taking this medication. I can only take 1/2 of the 5 mg prescribed as I get side effects that scare me. The 1/2 per day seems to be ok. I will be off these soon.

The only side effect I have experienced so far is the mood swings which I had prior to taking this medication due to the Lupron shots. It stopped my heavy bleeding within 2 days.

My doctor has me taking 5mg twice a day to prepare for an endo ablation. This drug has caused depression, anxiety, weight gain, acne, bloating, headaches. I have taken myself off of it and will consult my Dr.
