I was experiencing very heavy periods with clots. It was awful. My period started coming every 2 weeks. I was losing so much blood I had to get a transfusion. The Aygestin was a Godsend. Bleeding stopped immediately. I've been on it for several weeks now with no apparent side effects.

I have been taking this medication for almost a month now. I started my period the day after I started taking it and it lasted for 11 days. I was off of my period for 4 days and started back again. I started this medicine to help stop the heavy extremely long periods but it has just gotten worse. This dizziness is unbearable !!

I was experiencing extremely heavy periods including what called 'gushing'. I was prescribed this medication and have not had a period sine. At night, I occasionally experience night sweats. Most annoying is chills and rigors. Usually happens when I'm sitting or in bed.

I used this for my endometriosis. I had irregular periods and extremely painful cramping before during and after my person. It took a while for it to work but it eventually worked beautifully. For me this was a godsend.

The first two weeks on this medication I had zero pain or bleeding. I did not have my period when it was due which made me think this was working. The third week I have had the worst cramping and bleeding of my life! I can't move, roll over in bed or even sit still to get the cramping to stop. The pain wakes me from sleep it is so severe! I'd rather not be on it and deal with the monthly breakthrough bleeding, at least that pain was easily relieved with some ibuprofen!

My gyn gave to me to take every 3rd month to precipitate a period due to taking non progesterone with estrogen. I take 5mg from 1 - 14 days. Then period starts. Usually heavy with cramps for a day or two and stops by 4th day. Worked well until I am cutting back on Estrogen to try to get off. Now, terrible cramps continuing for 3rd day. Still bleeding pretty heavily. Hope it goes away soon. Don't know if the lack of estrogen is what's making it so strong. Getting concerned. Age 57

This was prescribed as my period stopped for two months. Have been on this med for over a year and have no problems. It allows the lining to leave my body as my body still produces estogen which produces the lining.

I started taking this medication because I've been diagnosed with endometriosis. The first time I've taken it I had hot flashes, thinning hair, and spotting between periods. Now I'm back on the medicine (since 12/2013) and now the left side of my hair is falling out and I have abdominal pains as if I'm on my period. I take 2 pills each night (10 mg) and my symptoms has only gotten worse. I'm getting off this medication.

My doctor gave this medication (5mg) to take with my Lupron injections. I have been on it for a little over 3 weeks. However, I have noticed weight gain, acne, mood swings, decreased libido, and migraines. I have been a migraine sufferer for years and told my doctor that, yet she gave it to me anyway. Ya....real smart!! It hasn't helped much in the way of pain, and I'm still spotting (by the way, I DON'T have a Uterus!) So.....I am going to stop this medication now.

I am 36 years old. The Dr. put me on this medication because I had been spotting for 2 months. I took it for 2 days the spotting stopped. I took it for 10 days as told by the Dr. I am now 3 days off the meds, I am slightly spotting, waiting for my heavy period to come. During these 3 days I have been irritable, anxious, depressed, I have leg weakness, I have pimples on my chest and back. WOW!!! Never thought this would happen after high school. I just hope to get back to my old self again.

I took 10 mg of this everyday for 7 months. The first 5 monthes I was very pleased, no bleeding or pain. After the first 5 monthes, I became a total mess. Physically and mentally. I devoloped severe depression, migraine headaches, nausea, and bleeding! It has made me where its almost impossible to fall asleep at night. I had to be rushed to the emergency room two days ago and they diagnosed me saying my stomach lining is deterrating due to the use of this medicine. And have sceaduled me for surgery in a week. I strongly recommend to not use this medicine. And if you have to, do your research. By the way I'm just seventeen!Read More Read Less

My main concern is the tremors I get in my hands when taking this med. I had very slight tremors before I took it, but now they are hard to control AND I am a dental hygienist! I need to have steady hands. I was on 15mg a day to stop the heavy bleeding/clots/passing uterine lining. I need to cut back. Dr suggests only 2.5mg a day. was on 15mg a day to stop bleeding to have a hystroscopy done. waiting for results.

I HAD A BBAY IN DECEMBER AND DIDN'T HAVE MY FIRST PERIOD TILL MARCH. IT WAS AN UNUSUALLY LIGHT PERIOD. I STARTED AGAIN IN APRIL AND AFTER BEING ON IT FOR 3 WEEKS WITH PRETTY HEAVY BLEEDING I WENT TO MY GYN AND HE DID AN ULTRASOUND AND FOUND THAT MY ENDOMETRIAL LINING WAS THICKER THAN IT SHOULD BE SO HE STARTED ME ON THE AYGESTIN TO STOP THE PERIOD I WAS ON AND HOPED IT WOULD START AGAIN AND THIN OUT LINING AFTER I FINISHED PERIOD. HAVE BEEN ON IT FOR 8 DAYS NOW TAKING 5MG 2X'S A DAY FOR 15 DAYS. MY PERIOD HAS STOPPED DURING THE DAY BUT I BLEED AT NIGHT FOR SOME REASON. I ALSO HAVE PCOS SO I AM NOT SURE IF THAT HAS AN AFFECT ON IT OR NOT. I HAVE EXPERIENCED DIZZINESS AND HEADACHES WITH NIGHT SWEATS. I HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT SOON SO I CAN GET BACK TO A NORMAL LIFE! I TRUST MY DOCTOR KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING SINCE HE EFFECTIVELY TREATED MY PCOS WITH 2 SUCCESSFUL PREGNANCIES.Read More Read Less

Am 55 and haven't reached menopause. Was bleeding heavily for a month and a half with clots. Had ultrasound -- thickened endometrial lining 17 mm, cysts and fibroids. Gyn started me on Aygestin 10/mg per day for days 1-10 each month. Have used four months. Now periods are 8-9 days, only one heavy day a month and no clots and not spotting in between except for first month. Gyn said I can use indefinitely. If quits working will need D&C and then hysterectomy. Had headaches, dizziness and bouts of nauseousness before Aygestin so can't blame the drug for side effects. Used natural progesterone cream a couple of years ago with same problem and began bleeding less heavy but still irregular and couldn't tell how much I was using and needed to use since instructions said to use again if started bleeding (which was quite often). Was probably using too much of it. It just didn't work for me. I am pleased I can use this hopefully until I get through menopause since I don't want any surgery I can avoid. Also, I've had some docs who said they believed I'd had TIAs so I've been on 81mg aspirin for 13 yrs. On my own I started using less aspirin hoping it would also help the bleeding. Using aspirin the 10 days on Aygestin, none until after period, then every other day. Every time I blew my nose it was bloody and that has stopped. But make sure your doc knows if you change your meds. I'd read on internet to stop aspirin totally if had abnormal bleeding, but that sounds dangerous to me. Hope the best for anyone who tries this. I feel like it's been a blessing from God for me. I don't like being on any meds but this seems smarter than surgery and I'm tired of stockpiling sanitary napkins!Read More Read Less
