I've been using Avapro for about 4 years with great success.

This medication appears to be designed for use by men. After reading all of the reviews this medication only works well for men (other then the ED)then for women, in general. There should be a BP med specifically designed for women with little or no side effects.

This medication is expensive; insurance does not cover it and no generic available until next year. Some headaches now and then. Have hair loss from previous bp meds and does not seem to be growing back. Been on this med for 3 months so far not losing any more hair. But, that is to be determined.

Was on this med for about 2-1/2 months when I realized that it was causing extreme pain, in my lower body mostly, and severe muscle weakness. It was only because I play tennis regularly that I finally realized it was the drug causing such weakness in my legs that I could no longer run. Otherwise I would have continued to believe the problem was being caused by my back issues. After being off the drug for about a week and a half, muscles were pretty much back to normal.

Although my BP is not in high range but Dr prescribed AVAPRO 300 with HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE.Using Avapro for about two-three month. Feels lot of pressure although BP used to be a little lower then normal when using drugs. One day I didnt use to see any effect & my BP was 128-137 & 83-87. Should I discontinue or make Avapro in to half & start taking 150 mg.Feels dizziness with blurrede eyes for a minute when stand up. Medication has worked to lower blood pressure but has caused severe ED and almost complete loss of sexual desire.Read More Read Less

I questioned my doctor when he put me on this drug. He said that he also took it. I have taken Avapro for about 5 years and have felt better than at any time during the past 20 years of being on other BP drugs. Only once did my BP go up and that was due to extreme stress. I was temporarily treated for that and my BP returned to usual low pressure readings and I again felt well. Recently I was informed that my insurance will not pay for Avapro so I will look for a generic equivalency.

Have taken Avapro with success for many years! Since there is now a genetic drug to replace it, insurance will not cover it anymore! So will start a genetic drug to replace Avapro. Hopefully it will work for me.

Been on 75mg for 10yrs. Never had any side-effects that could not deal with. Have been on at lease 15 different meds. over 30yrs and this is the only one that drop my BP. Now my insurance says that this is the wrong med. This is par for drug-plans do it cheap the heck with what works.

Been on Avapro combined with HTCZ for three weeks. I experienced severe fatigue sluggish feeling, tried taking one of each on alternate days no luck also woke up with heart palpatations. I also have MG which Avapro makes worse my Doctor thinks it could be the MG but I don't think so because I was fine until I started the Avapro and HTCZ (should also mention I was on Avalide 300/12.5 for 7yrs until the recall and it worked fine but the two combined meds that make up Avalide don't work for me) On my way back to the Doctor because I don't need a MG crisis from Bp Meds.Read More Read Less

my physician wrote me avapro 300 mg for HBP. Although it's so effective for lowering my BP, I started to be dragging my legs with significant fatigue and general weakness associated with mental dysfunction.

This drug was far too strong for my condition; after only 6 days I was weak, fatigued with extreme heaviness in my legs all the time. I was disoriented and could not think or function mentally. It lowered my pressure too much, to dangerous levels. Should only be taken with extreme caution and the oversight of a COMPETENT physician.

My blood pressure steadily came down after taking avapro. I do not have any major side effects except that I do feel much more tired since I began this drug. I am not tired all day, but at the end of the day I have extreme fatigue. My legs feel very heavy and weak. I really have to go to bed earlier to recharge for the next day. Otherwise, a very effective medication.
