I took Serzone for 2 years from 1999 to 2001 during the most stressful and deepest depression I have ever been through. Although I have been depressed most of my life, after taking Serzone I felt cured and after 2 years of treatment I came off the medicine and actually did rather well for 4 years. After the "liver scare" most providers were unwilling to prescribe nefazodone in 2005 when I required...

I have been on nefazadone for over 20 years. After several other antidepressants that did not control my anxiety my dr put me on nefazadone. He explained the liver problems the medication might cause which is very rare and told me like other antidepressants could cause same effects. He would monitor labs couple times a year to be safe. This is the only medicine that took my panic attacks away and controlled my anxiety and depression. It saved my life.

So I just started on this medications. First time ever on an antidepressant (tried Wellbutrin but made me too anxious) but after research it seemed to be like a good fit for my anxiety as well. I am extremely drowsy. I only took 100mg. Is this normal ?? Will it go away?

Nefazodone is again available. Such a relief to have this medication back again. I have been on this for over 20 years and has worked wonders for me. It is the only thing I ever found that helps my anxiety. There is a Facebook Support group called "Nefazodone Shortage Survivors and Support" that has a lot of information and patient experiences with this medication.

Nefazodone is out of shortage and again available. This medication has made a world of difference in my depression and anxiety. I have been on it for over 20 years with no side effects. I tried many other medications and none have worked like this one. It is the only antidepressant that made a significant impact in my anxiety.

I too have been on Nefazodone religiously going on 24 years... This is a SERIOUS problem for us, and I pray Teva takes it seriously, and does whatever they can in their power to get this resolved ASAP ! For me Nefazodone saved my life, I took Trazodone first in 1997, and Trazodone made my nose so stuffy, I could only breath through my mouth, and had to stop the Trazodone..... I cannot even state enough, how SERIOUS this is, PLEASE get this resolved as quickly as you can.... This is a MEDICALLY NECESSCARY drug for some of us for decades.. I call Teva once a week, and I will keep doing it, and I just pray those of us whose lives were saved and been on it for decades can find some at places, to hold us over till we get some update.... Teva is the ONLY Manufacturer, and Nefazodone is not a popular choice by many Doctors to prescribe, but the fact is us long term users had our lives saved, and we are CHEMICALLY Dependent on it after years, and decades for some.... Please Teva, your the only one that makes this... Please do your best not to let this drag on month after month, this is very deeply stressful and upsetting for many of us Read More Read Less

I took this medication for several years before it was withdrawn from the market in Australia. It was the only medication that treated my dep & anx. Side effects for me were heavy sedation (esp. in mornings), restless legs, nausea, weight loss. But overall, I think the side effects were worth it. My liver function was monitored via blood tests and it was fine. Bring this back to the market in Australia; it is vital! There is no equivalent!

Started Serzone (now nefazodone) in 1998 after giving up Prozac because of libido-killing side effect. It has been wonderful in every way. At one point had liver function tests because of some Serzone-related deaths in Europe; no problems for me. I take high dose (2.5 x 200mg), and rarely have problem getting prescription filled. N. has become important to my sleep patterns. I take it at bedtime; it helps me sleep; but if I forget, my head just gets weird and I sleep uneasily until I do take it. My condition is dysthymia, and N. is perfect for it.Read More Read Less

Back when this was brand new my GP gave me this for dual diagnosis panic disorder and Major Depressive Disorder with Psychotic Features. It worked great at a subtherapeutic dose in terms of destroying all the panic, depression, and suicidal ideation and also delusins and hallucinations BUT [and, this is a BIG big but!] I was sleeping a 20 freaking hours a day! For the 4 hours a day I was awake, I felt wonderful for the first time since I was well, back in my teens. She wanted me to stay on it but after 2 weeks it seemed to me this was not normal, especially since the pharmacists said they didn't know what overdose symptoms were yet. So even though GP was saying 'sometimes you need to sleep' I took myself off. Sure sleep is great but 20 hours per day for 14 days in a row? I hadn't even reached passed the initial introductory dose :-/. I don't like to be non-compliant but..after 3 weeks on it and nothing but sleep, off it I went. When I told my psychiatrist a few years later he said those were overdose symptoms and that stopping was a good thing. It has since been pulled off the market here for causing liver failure and from what shrink and pahramacist said, it was my liver making me sleep so much. :( Read More Read Less

After trying 7 antidepressants that didn't work 20 years ago, I'm hyperactive also, I finally was prescribed nefazadone/sera zone about 17 years ago. It's been a blessing. I finished my master's degree 5 years ago and looking to start my doctoral. I would love to do research related to this drug w/talk therapy on those w depression and ADHD.

I have been on this med for many years. It has been a life saver. There are times it's been difficult for my pharmacist to fill the script for my dose. I need 200 mg. tabs. he fills it with what ever dose is available until the 200's are available.

I was placed on this medication in 1998 for depression after being taken off Paxil for the lack of help and bad side effects. I felt like a new person. After I got used to the drug (3 weeks) I felt great and was sleeping much better. My depression gone! I was me again and happy as a could be. In 2004 a doctor made me ill with a cocktail injection of Kenalog/DMSO. He told me he was giving me pain medicine for my back injury. It wasn't pain medicine he injected! It caused Iatrogenic Cushing's disease, Adrenal failure,Avascular Necrosis, Colon disease and a lot of other problems. I have been ill over 9 years now. Since that time, the Nefazodone has stopped being effective. I don't sleep. I cry all the time. I go through horrible bouts of depression. I am suicidal at times. I live ill and in a lot of pain. One doctor tried adding Cymbalta to it more than several years back and it seems to help at first, but they had to keep increasing the dose. They increased the Nefazodone also till I was at max on both drugs. I finally got off the Cymbalta as it seemed to make my depression worse. A variety of things have been tried but none work. I am now on 300mg of Nefazodone at bedtime. No one seems to know what to do, so they just leave me on it and I suffer. Up and down, bad bouts of depression, anxiety and the crying bouts uncontrollable. This drug worked so well in the beginning before my body and brain got slammed. I don't know how to turn things around. I was such a happy person with many friends. Now I sit alone for the most part and don't feel anything but sadness. Read More Read Less

Since returning from Vietnam in 1971 and diagnosed at that time with PTSD I was subjected to 11 years of trial and error with all drugs. Nefazadone has been the best for me and highly reccomended. Man what a difference I see when NOT taking it for a couple of days. To late to save the marriage but if we can save one life with this I will be a happy camper.

I have taken this medication since 1999; however recently I have been unable to refill my script in the past 45 days due to Mfg. backorders. What is the problem and is their a comparable substitute?

This medication is just superior in treating my depression and I have just decided to monitor my labs and enjoy life again. Read More Read Less
