I've been having heart palpitations since in my 20's and started becoming more frequently every day so I researched what could help and tried 400 mg of mag with 1000 mg of calcium which will keep you from getting diarrhea from the mag and took it right before I went to bed, well I felt like a new person the next day! 1st time in 25 yrs I don't have palpitations and feel so good! And as a bonus it ...

Worked ok for constipation but side effects were extreme. Horrible stomach pain, lightheaded and weight loss.

At a dose of 2 grams a day, Magnesium Oxide in capsule form controlled, insomnia, erratic high blood pressure at night, and incontinence that would occur during a cough. Less than that amount was not as effective for me. Also, After 1 or 2 months of taking that amount, my acid reflux stopped. There are 15 different types of Magnesium. Each type controls something different. I weigh 162. Taking the right kind of magnesium and the right amount helped my health significantly.

I take one pill every night to keep me regular... it is so much safer than stool softeners or laxatives and I am glad I switched... my doctor is also happy with this choice.

Just started this at 500 mg daily because of chemo - depleted magnesium in blood. After 5 days, I began itching horribly - then broke out in hives. Took benadryl tonight for relief and will contact doctor in morning.

Have had issues with constipation for most of my life, I believe due to much use of antibiotics. A doctor through my medical insurance company told me about it. I have now used it for many years, but now it is less effective and I use a bowel softener as well. I still have to take the magnesium along with it though, or neither one is effective anymore. It also helps with my absorption of Calcium, which has also been chronic with me. Getting enough Calcium prevents leg aches, especially in women on their periods, so anything to help absorb it is desirable. If anyone has any ideas as to what I could do, let me know, please. I walk daily, eat fruits, vegetables, and drink fluids, such as water, white tea, coffee. I am trying to eat a lot of celery and more salads daily. Cheese seems to cause more problems and hard to give up, since I get so hungry and cheese satiates me. Thanks all!Read More Read Less

I've dealt with constipation for many years and came across magnesium oxide as a remedy. I took 2 pills (400mg ea) at bedtime and it has helped tremendously! This is a miracle supplement! The bottle instructs taking 3 tablets daily. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars for satisfaction (and hoping someone can suggest something) is that I'm dealing with major bloat now. I feel full and swollen in my abdomen all day now. Not sure if I should stop the magnesium or treat the bloating. If anyone has any advice, please let me know. Read More Read Less

I initially started using this for constipation. The full daily dose on the labeling is 3 tablets = 400 mg, but I only took 1 a day. I like to take things slowly. It absolutely worked for the constipation. After a while it stopped working as well so I bumped it up to 2 a day (still 1 pill under the recommended dosage). THis brought me back to regularity, but I also noticed that it brought my slightly hypertensive blood pressure down AND helped with anxiety and insomnia. I deal with anxiety daily and hate it and this really did make a dent. Unfortunately, I find PERSONALLY that the 2 pills per day caused my blood pressure to get too low so I will be cutting back to 1 per day. Read More Read Less

My neurologist had me on Depakote, tried maxalt, zomig, etc, triptans, even tried botox injection, anti-depressants. He finally prescribed magnesium, and wow, the intensity and frequency of the migraines decreased. I had what he referred to as locked in migraines, lasting 4-6 weeks. I lost my job of 23 yrs due to this illness, that few understand. But today, I manage my migraines using magnesium only. I have 2-3 migraines a month, lasting less than 24 hours and I am able to function even when I have one. I wish my doctor had started me on this much sooner, instead of trial & error with those other costly drugs. Read More Read Less

Chronic Migraines wrecked my life, lost my job & could not find any medication (incl. Topomax - severe side effects) that would at least regulate them. Finally my general doctor prescribed 800 mg/day (Two 400mg/day). After 7 days of considerable nausea (used nauzene tablets & hard candy to get ride of nausea), my headaches improved greatly! It has begun to give me hope and energy and the ability to live my life again. The migraines are lessening in intensity, length and frequency. WOW, who knew!!! If this works for you too, remember not to miss a dose or the migraines may return. Given the changes, I will happily continue to take MG Oxide for life if it helps with the life destroying migraines!Read More Read Less
