I have been taking 2mg of doxazosin for the past 2 years. My urgency to urinate has decreased drastically and getting up in the middle of the night happens occasionally. For me, when I sit for a long period of time, I have to go to the bathroom more often. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this treatment with no side effects.

It doesn't seem to be working and I'm not sure how much damage it may be causing my internal organs. I really think most prescriptions are written so the doctor can get their 'kick backs', i.e., money from the drug companies...if it actually works for the patient...great!

I am glad I found another woman(jacq)that said she was on this drug. It has worked well on bringing my blood pressure down along with the drug lopressor didn't know it was used in men for prostate problems. I do sometimes wake up shortly after I've gone asleep with heart pounding so I get up and take a drink and walk around a little and it goes away. I read in one other comment that another 1 or maybe 2 patients had this same problem.High blood pressure is hereditary in my family.

Tried many drugs; Hytrin, Flomax, Avodart but found doxazosin gave me the best result for BPH symtoms.

I started out on 2mg. Over the past 1 1/2 years, my doctor has increased the dosage to 16mg with minimal effectiveness.

8mg a day for several years. Very slight lowering of blood pressure, but very little to no effect on frequent urination at night. No side effects noted.

Been taking doxazosin for 7 months, noticed brown grainy color in semen. Doctors gave cipro for prostritus. 5 months or so my prostrate was hurting and uncomfortable to sit on and hurt all the time. After 7 months I stopped taking doxazosin and pain and color started to go away the very next day and in a month I felt near normal. Doctors say if it was doxazosin I am the only one in 25 years. Any one else out there had this?

I have taken Doxazosin for about a year, twice daily with no side effects. I take Doxazosin along with other 2 other BP meds; my cardiologist is still trying to effectively regulate my BP. I have been on BP meds since 1978 – several have severe side effects including Lisinopril and Binicar.
