I had my Gallbladder removed in 1947 and for over twenty years I put up with the worst Diarrhea, No Doctor was able to help me until about 1970, When, luckily for me I found this Doctor who had experimented in his studies with Questran and prescribed it for me. After the first doses of 4g/day my problem was resolved, I got my life back. no more diarrhea for close to forty years, unless I forget to...

I have taken this medicine for nearly four months and I still have diarreha every day/several times a day. I am constantly losing weight. I lost 12 lbs from 8/11 to 8/21. My doctor prescribed this medicine along with Benefiber twice a day in hopes to bulk my stool. It has not worked and I have stopped taking the medicine. Matter of fact, I am having less diarreha.

I couldnt live a normal life without this medication,i would have to stay in or not eat at all when i did go out. I will be a long time taker of this medication and have been taking for three years upto now without a problem also take other tablets throughout the day but work around them so that they are spaced apart from the questran. It is a bit of a juggle at first but is workable

This is my second day of taking Questran and I find it palatable in fruit juice, it is very gritty but better than liquids I've had before scans. I have been prescribed this due to chronic diarrhea after a small bowel re-section 3 months ago. Already I am relieved at no having to visit the loo so often and I was confident leaving the house to go shopping. Imodium and similar preparations haven't been as effective as pre-op but I never had diarrhea like this either. I'm hoping this is the solution, really happy so far.Read More Read Less

The taste is horrible, no matter what I mix it with. I've experimented.. 1/2 to full pkg. Now on 3/4 of pkg, Full pkg constipates me, 1/2 - still have diahorrea. I have been on it for 6 weeks. Headache, rumbling and passing gas.. almost as embarassing as the chronic diahorrea. Fatigue and confusion daily. I think I'll stop it and see if all of the side effects vanish. I may go back to Immodium and probiotics. At least I could use my brain then, even if I had to be in the bathroom 4 to 6 times a day. Read More Read Less

I suffered for 3 years after gall Bladder removal getting steadily worse. I got to the stage of being afraid to go anywhere and then had a very embarrassing accident. I saw a new doctor who suggested Questran I have to take it twice a day - but now I have my life back and feel like a normal person. I suggest anyone trying it to persevere - its a wonder drug !! Why don't they tell you this can happen after gall bladder removal ?? It would save a lot of suffering for some of us..

Just started using it - side effects are awful - severe headache, ache, gas, fatigue, doubt that I will continue if I can get Imodium. Doctor failed to tell me about the diarrhea after gallbladder removal. I've had IBSD for 60 yrs now adding this to it Ill stay home and be miserable. Not worth all the side effects and malabsorption!

Like many stories here, I too had my gallbladder removed to suddenly find myself having severe diarrhea and gastric cramps after eating. I was prescribed this medication and it works wonderful. I only take a single dose in the morning. If you take this medication, just make sure you take it two hours before or four hours after other medications, as it interferes with most meds.

I was diagnosed with collagenous colitis 2 years ago & could not tolerate the 5 ASA's. My new gastroenterologist suggested cholestyramine, 9 grams twice a day, & it began working immediately, even though it can take 1 -2 weeks to work. Before I had diarrhea 5 - 15 times a day, along with cramping and bloating, even on a very carefully controlled diet. Now I have 1-3 bowel movements per day and am free of discomfort. My only concerns with this medication, as with any medication, relate to the long-term side effects. Read More Read Less

Works--just experiement with the dose. Start simple. One pack in the morning See how it goes. If not good results add another pack at dinner. If too much, maybe half pack at dinner. Mix with 4 oz of some kind of liquid. Yes, side efects-regulate this if you can by doseage.

Just started Questran about two weeks ago for IBS diarrhea. It has worked pretty immediately, but couldn't stand the sandy taste. Have been mixing it with pineapple juice and it is a LOT easier to take.

Same as alot of the other stories...had my gallbladder out two years ago. Couldn't eat or drink anything (and I mean ANYTHING) without suffering from instant and horrible stomache cramps and diarreha. Avoided eating all day until I was home. Avoided lunches and dinners out at restaurants. Was finally prescribed Questran. Was disappointed for the first week and thought it wouldn't work, just like all the other drugs doctors had prescribed. Saw wonderful results after the first week and now it works great. I take one dose in the morning and feel great all day. Can eat and drink whatever and whenever I want. Have been taking for 2 months and have not had a single episode of diarreha (and believe me, I've tried every trigger food I could think of!) Only side effect I've had alittle trouble with is gas. Definately easier to handle than diarreha! Try it...stick with it, even if you don't see results immedately. Read More Read Less

Had gallbladder removed 1 1/2 years ago, and until a 2 days ago I had horrible diarrhea if I ate or drank anything. (much like many other stories on here). I travel for my job every week, I kept a roll of toilet paper in my truck, and have had to pull off the side of the interstate and go back into the woods. Had many close calls, and this was drastically impacting my life. My doctor prescribed this medication 3 days ago. It's like magic! it worked first dose. I can actually live normally again!Read More Read Less
