I am writing this review because before going on Kariva, I almost asked my doctor to switch me based on the reviews I read on this website and others. Well let me say, five months in and I am VERY happy with Kariva! I had some headaches, appetite changes, and mood swings the first couple of months. Since then, my acne has cleared up, I have not gained weight, my periods are shorter. My pharmacy f...

I don't use this medication for birth control, I use it for the price (which can't be beat). But I do not like it. I have increased cramp, moodiness, and longer, heavier periods. I would not recomend it to anyone. In fact I just finished this set of pills and did not order any more.

My doctor recommended a low dose BC because i have painful ovarian cyst. So far, I have had a few migraines, nausea, extreme tiredness and moodiness. Before taking Kariva I was able to eat small portions or skip lunch without problems. Now, I have gained weight because if I do not eat ENOUGH after taking Kariva birth control my symptoms are magnified... nausea especially.

I gave the effectiveness 3 stars because I have only been on this pill for 3 weeks now. My period ended 2 1/2 weeks ago and ever since then I've had a brownish grey discharge which wont go away, and I've never experienced that before. I got super bad headaches with this pill, every day so far. I have also noticed that I am super crabby all the time now, which is definitely weird for me because even when I'm pmsing I'm still in a good mood. Overall I don't like this and will be going back to Ortho Tri Cyclen.Read More Read Less

I have been very satisfied with Kariva. I've been taking it for about 7 years now. It got rid of my migranes, cramping and other pms issues. It also reduces my period to only once a year for about a week. I haven't really had any spotting in between my yearly periods. I can deal with that!

I used to take Mircette and loved it. I quit taking bc for a few years and decided I wanted to start up again, so I asked for Mircette, but now they give me Kariva. I've been taking it for about 8 months. It still makes my stomach upset. If I miss a pill and take it as soon as I remember the next day, I'll spot for two weeks! The good things are that my periods are very light and very short (for me). I don't even cramp anymore. Unfortunately, I think Kariva has caused me to gain a few pounds...I hate the thought of trying to find another bc, but i hate this two week spotting business enough that I think I will.Read More Read Less

I had been on Kariva for about a year and a half when I had to switch due to having migraine headaches and just frequent headaches in general. Other than that I was satisfied with it, I had not gotten pregnant and my periods were light but seemed to start and stop during the last week of pills. I switched from this pill to Errin which was a BIG mistake. I had a migraine every day until I stopped taking it. Overall I was satisfied with Kariva.

I have been taking this since December and I skip the placebo pills. I have to admit that I love not having a period. I have had no adverse side effects at all. Just have had a light bit of spotting this month and that's it. I am very happy with this product and will continue taking it.

I have just recently gone off Kariva after being on it for a year. I had a terrible experience with this med; highly irritable, monthly breakthrough bleeding, gained 20 pounds. My biggest complaint was debilitating headaches. They would start the first day of my placebo week and last all day, everyday until my next active pill. They (the headaches) made me nauseated and sensitive to light. Awful. I couldn't wait to change to a new BC. There is no way I will go back to this pill. I didn't get pregnant on it though, so I guess its effective. Read More Read Less

I love Kariva, I've only experienced nausea and slight headaches the first month I used it, but thats normal. After the first month, I've never experienced bloating, mood swings, weight gain, or change in appetite. This definitely made my period lighter and my cramps are so much better.I've been on this for almost a year and have no complaints!

I have been on Kariva for 7 years. It cleared up my acne and it helps keep me stable and happy. I've never had to switch birth control pills since being on Kariva.

HATED THIS MEDICINE!!!!! made me soooo ridiculously moody throughout the entire month, not just near my period. Never had acne until I used Kariva. Always felt bloated and tired. This pill completely took away my entire sex drive. Stopped after 2 months of use.

I have had breakthrough bleeding every month I've been on this pill for 1 week, then I have my period and it only lasts 3 days. I have very tender breasts. This pill doesn't seem to be for me. I need to find a pill that doesn't give me breakthrough bleeding.

I have recently been changed to Karvia, so far I love it. I have not had any breakthrough bleeding or leg pain that I had experienced with some others. Only complaint is that I seem more emotional and I seem to have some min. cramping the week of. Overall the best so far

I have been on birth control for years up until the birth of my son 3 yrs ago. Kariva was recommended to me now more for my mood swings. I have been on it for a few months now and I have zero sex drive. I am extremely tired and still have mood swings, may be slightly better, but so far I am not pleased and will be calling my Dr.

I never could take the pill because of horrible migraines when I was younger. I am 43 and was put on these things to help my periods straighten out. Was on these things only a month. Started my period. That night woke up in pain. Felt like I was in labor. Walked around for hours. Finally the pain subsided enough to go back to bed. In the morning was walking around the house started watching TV then had a gush of blood came out. Went to the bathroom and found pad saturated. Also there was a tennis ball size thing on my pad. Went to the doctor found out I did go through labor to pass the object. Was NOT pregnant. These pills did it. Had too much progesterone. My uterus lining actually made a placenta. That is what I passed! I also wake up with horrible cramps in my calves! Have to be on these till the end of month and that is it! I just pray I don't go through this again when my next period comes! So far, I am satisfied with Kariva. I have experienced minimal side-effects and my periods are regular, but heavier than normal. I plan on staying with this medication and would recommend it.
