I recommend the cherry flavor since the mint is chalky tasting. personally, i find that a larger dose is more predictable as to when you can expect it to work-about 2 to 3 hours for me. the downside is frequently going to the bathroom for a few hours once it begins. it's very gentle,no cramps and is strong. it's my first choice.

This medication does what it says. I generally don't like taking 4 tablespoons at one time, though. Seems to work TOO well if you take the full dose. I usually take 2-3 tablespoons, and that gets the job done. As for the person who took 4 tablespoons at 6p, and 4 more tablespoons at 11a, you're not supposed to take more than 4 tablespoons in a 24 hour period. That might have been your problem.

I took MOM for the first time two nights ago (4 Tablespoons worth) around 6pm. Then the next day, I took 4 more Tablespoons worth around 11am and was in complete misery. I think part of it was my period started that same day as well. So, I was just cramping like crazy :( But, it worked and ended up getting a lot out. I would recommend this for anyone who is blocked up. But, afterwards and during, drink tons of water!!

I took the laxative around 3:30. I've never taken this medicine before, and I didn't know what to expect. An hour later, I had a lot of gas and then had my first, huge bowel movement. I had no idea I was so backed up. Since then, I have had diarrhea every half an hour. No cramps. Just cleans me out!

This treatment is easy to take and very effective. It has been on the market decades and has a proven track record. It is also less expensive than other treatments on the market.

Went 2 weeks without a bowel movement, no cramping, not even has. but I just felt I'll and like my whole abdomen was extended and bloated bad. Yucky! I couldn't even workout normally or do things around the house. I tried everything, fibers, smoothies, laxatives, stool softeners, even prescription laxatives.. nothing! 4 ozs of Phllips milk of Mag followed by 8 oz. Of water and ta-da!!! I was so back up, I had to flush the toilet 4 times with the amount of building up in there. I had no cramping after taking it, not even gassy. I would definitely recommend it! Anymore then 4 oz and you'll poop yourself!!! LololololRead More Read Less

Got the plain liquid. Little chalky but neutral tasting. Drank plenty of water. I split the dose 3 oz before bed and 3oz in the morning. About 6 hours after I woke up eliminated a solid poop. Then four hours later it has been diarreah. No cramps just very loose stool every 30 mins. Seems like there is a lot of water in my bowel when I press on my belly. Drinking lots of fluids and riding it out. I do feel less bloated so it did the trick. I can do without the diarrhea though. Would have preferred to just poop out the solid dry feces that was backing me up. That would have been more satisfying.Read More Read Less

After trying a number of other treatments for constipation after surgery, this is the only thing to work for me. I wish I had known about it after my C section 7 years ago. Other than the mild stomache cramps this was a very effective. I used two half doses one in the pm and the other the next morning.

I tried senokot-s, which is also a laxative and stool softener. for two days with no results. I finally gave milk of magnesium a try and within 1/2 hour it worked. No horrible cramps. I would highly recommend this.

I had body odor and heard this can be used instead of underarm deodorant. It's supposed to kill the bacteria that causes odor. I put a little on a cotton ball or tissue after showering and dabbed on underarm. Absolutely no odor at end of day! I started using this about a week ago and have not experienced any bad side effect.

I have gastroparesis and my doctor told me I could take this everyday and it was safe. He did not mention anything else about how mom will work. I am now aware that I need to increase my body fluids after reading some of the articles. I could get dehydrated and potassium levels could go low. I also take a water pill for my High BP. Loosing more water, I guess I probably should supplement with drinking gatorade to replenish minerals. So I am taking milk of mag. every evening and have a liquid bowel movement and satisfied with the results because of the delayed movement I have which results in having a bowel movement every 3/4 days and usually hard. I do have a lot of movement and gas, that doesn't bother me. On days it it is too much, I skip a day or lower the dose. I was taking reglan, but my doctor told me it causes lock jaw, to discontinue use, but never recomm anything else. After I had a colonoscopy, using mom to clean out, I realized how easy that was. So that is my story how I am treating my own problem with MOM. would like your feedback on this regimen. thank you.Read More Read Less

At first I only needed to take one teaspoonful with 4 oz. of water and would have b.m. within 8 hours. After a few weeks it became necessary to take once tablespoonful and sometimes 2 tablespoons. Now I am noticing that I am retaining fluid in my fingers and elsewhere. I wonder if it is the M.O.M. doing this.

This product worked wonders for me! I was so constipated that not even the enema helped after 2 hours of trying:( I read reviews for Milk of Magnesia and decided to try it. I was able to have a bowel movement within an hour of taking it! Good stuff!

I've used this for mouth sores on mt dentist's recommendation and it worked for that. I just took it awhile ago for constipation (2 tbs), and drank water as label indicated, and I feel nauseous, and very dizzy. I checked for drug interactions, but there are none. So I guess I'm allergic to it--I know I won't be taking it again--I feel miserable!

After removing half my left colon,I was hospitalized for a severe blockage due to adhesions from surgery. Nothing worked to promote a bowel movement until I began taking MOM. Now I take 2tbsps every night, and have a BM every morning, with no side effects and no cramping. Other laxatives/stool softeners were totally ineffective.
