I still feel a little shame when I take this drug (I'm not one to even take aspirin!) but on behalf of my family and how much better I function on it - I take it. 5mg is plenty and I wouldn't suggest any more. It is just enough energy for me to get started on my daily tasks and actually complete some! As a result I am less overwhelmed (and paralyzed!) and feel much more competent and confident ...

It was helpful in the beginning with school and sport productivity, but that only lasted a year. I founded a new talent, art, which I went to college for one year. I never was interested in art before. It made me very impulsive, and obsessive. I would find myself picking at my skin for almost the whole day. Also, it made me late to work in the later years because I took too long doing make up...

I began using adderall after discussing the pros and cons of the medication with my doctor. I could not find an anti-depressant that worked. I also can become "scattered"-too many thoughts at once leading to confusion. Both these issues were helped by adderall especially depression which led to clearer thinking.

Focusing on tasks on hand has been a problem for me for a very long time. I get easily side tracked with the slightest hiccup. Not to mention, finishing ANY project is impossible. Since being prescribed this medicine, I find myself focused, energetic, and on track at all times. However, caffeine does intensify my first dose in the morning and makes me very jittery.

my physician and I decided to try it for my stuggle with inability to focus and concentrate at work. Not certain whether a prev brain injury is causing symptoms. It seems to be making a great difference.

The side effects that caused on me is the worst part. I am a 51 yrs. old woman that her entire life, had been able to succeed in life, however after being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and suffering already from menopause exacerbated my symptoms of lack of concentration, difficulties making decisions, careless mistakes on paperwork, etc.

Was diagnosed 4 yrs ago and started with generic Ritalin - wasn't very effective. Switched to Adderall (2-10 mg per day) 2 yrs ago and it helped a lot more! Noticed that it would seem to "wear off" a couple hrs after taking it. Dosage was just increased to 2-10 mg and another 1/2 (5 mg) per day. Since the increase, I'm not having an issue with daily tasks (it's perfect as a matter of fact!); however, "bedroom life" has been less than positive. I've noticed a difficult time keeping a consistent erection - almost as if I loose all feeling and then feeling comes back. VERY frustrating for me as well as my girlfriend! Sexual appetite is more than there and eventually I am able to finish. If I go one a "drug vacation" for a couple days, there is no problem. I'll only be 30 in a month, so I don't believe I need to take the "blue" pill while prescribed to this.Read More Read Less

as a former smoker, adderall makes me want to smoke cigarettes like crazy! Im not sure why.. Adderall makes me less emotional (as a woman it's a good thing) however, I kind of trip out over nothing when on adderall. I'd compare it to starting a new birth control and having one of those "Just let me cry about absolutely nothing" moments. I've spoken to my doctor and he says this takes some getting used to. I just have to take a step back when I'm feeling emotional, emotionless, angry or upset for seemingly no reason. If your significant other, child, parent is on adderall and acting crazy, try to remember this post. Read More Read Less

I've been taking ADHD drugs ever since I was diagnosed with ADHD as a teenager. Adderall has worked better for me than anything else, such as Ritalin, so that my brain is more in-control of daily activities. Adderall doesn't cause me to become frustrated as with Ritalin it did.

I was prescribed this medication for extreme fatigue related to another diagnosis. Approximately, 1/2 - 1 hour after taking this medication for the first time, I experienced severe upper abdominal pain, nausea and pounding headache. I continued to experience these symptoms in high severity for approximately 6 hours. 8 hours after, I continued to suffer from the preceding symptoms and felt as if I might have to seek medical attention, still do. I then began having chills and fever (greater than 101o). I had very high expectations of this medication by helping to alleviate the disabling fatigue I suffer on a daily basis. I do believe that I shall recover from the current symptoms and share this in an effort for all of us - patients - to remember to use all modalities of treatment with caution.Read More Read Less

The medicine has been effective in terms of improving my concentration and ability to stay on task. However, the side effects I've experienced consistently since taking it: weight loss of 15 lbs with same eating habits as before, slight shaking of hands, increased heart rate, increased libido, and increased watery stools.

It seems to work, but has anyone else noticed a sweet flavor to it? I was originally prescribed 20mg tablets, and they tasted terrible, yet this tablet for some reason tastes very sweet. Is this normal?
