OMG! After terrible side effects of Lithium tx. and awful mood swings. My Dr. gave me Geodon to try. The first day I was a bit sleepy, but starting with my second dose, I became very clear minded and actually felt like I had energy of a normal person. Not manic energy. I have been able to sleep consistantly with out sleeping meds. This has been the wonder drug for me. with no side effects. I th...

I took the 40mg of this medication. I was absolutely miserable about 10 min after I took the medicine I would be so extremely tired the I would collapse on the floor and wake up hours later. I wasn't able to move very well and it was difficult for me to speak. I took this medicine for about 2 months thinking it would make me better but it just made me into a zombie. I eventually got tired of it so I talked to my doctor about it and he immediately took me off of it.

This drug made me feel like a zombie. I had a wonderful MD in Ft Wayne who took wonderful, appropriate care of me for 20 years. He diagnosed me with major depressive disorder and panic disorder. I took Xanax, Vistaril oral and an anti-depressant. I had to move because I needed to be near my family. For a while I drove back to my MD, but after 2 years I had to stop. I went to a Psychiatrist recommended by my Psychologist who said my MD had misdiagnosed me. He said I had the new popular disorder, BI-POLAR DISORDER. He didn't say 1 or anything else. Just bi-polar. He put me on Geodon at an extremely high dose. 240 mg daily. He made me take it for more than 6 years. Pfizer had been supplying Geodon for me for free, and when they discontinued that service, I had to stop taking it. I tapered down my dose one pill at a time, gradually. There are no places that I can find what may happen when you go off this very bad drug after long term use. My hair follicles used to be thick and coarse. Now they are fine and brittle. It is also falling out by the handful. I have numbness and tingling in my fingers that is quite painful. My skin feels slimy, and when I shower, soap bubbles appear without using soap. I feel electric shocks in my neck and jaw and brain. I am extremely anxious, and have more than usual problems falling asleep. My teeth are losing their enamel, and my nails on hands and feet are very thin, soft, growing irregularly, brittle, and growing hang nails daily. They are very sore. This is not a good drug. I didn't read my patient information sheet because I was so zombied out when I went to him. I trusted him to know how to use this drug. It isn't for mood disorder really. It was designed to help with movement disorders. I have lots of anxiety, but I am not agitated. I sit calmly. I don't have jerky motions in my face or arms. I wasn't told to take it with food. I didn't know it wasn't meant to be taken for a long term. Bad experienceRead More Read Less

1. TSH went from 4.5 to 10. My primary care doc was shocked. 2. Extreme agitation -- bouncing up and down on balls of my feet. Insomnia. 3. No appetite, which was good because I had gained so much on Zyprexa. 4. I didn't notice the sz getting any worse on Geodon, but it didn't get any better either. Only took it a few weeks & then went back on Zyprexa because I couldn't stand the agitation/anxiety. Felt bizarre.

I was seeing my DR for PTSD He put me on Geodon i went into hyper mania with lots of uncontrolled body movements and tremors and hallucinations. The psychiatrist then tripled my dose, exploding my stomach causing more pain in my body than i'd ever felt,as well as frightening hallucinations I* went to the ER and they gave me another antiphycotic, and my heart felt like it would explode. upon returning to my psychiatrist after 9+ days of tremors and seizures and he tried to 5150 me due to the drugs he'd given me geodon was on his pen by the way and I'd already had a bad reaction to other drugs. I quit seeing him immediately.Read More Read Less

This medication brought me back to normal, but made me too slow to learn in school. It caused dyskinesia so bad that I could not chew nuts or salads. I got infections and my eyes never stabilized. I had to find an independent MD to take me off and now I take truehope vitamins.

This medication should NOT be on the market! My sister is permanently disabled from this medication, It did work at first, but then, the worst happened. I can't believe it's on the market!! After being off it for over a year now, my sister still has severe seizures, she cant sleep because of this continuous movement. I forget the medical term for this, but it's horrible to see her like this! It is not tremors, it is more like epileptic seizures that don't stop. She is more depressed than ever now. Of course it's all about money for big pharma. DO NOT TAKE THIS VERY BAD DRUG. Read More Read Less

Geodon is absolutely terrible! My pdoc gave me Geodon because I had hallucinations the night before. I started at 60 mg at night and 40 mg in morning which made me so tired, I fell asleep too early. Also, I started getting tics. Don't get too worked up about medication, because I took 4 different medications. I didn't know whether It was the interactions or what, but I felt so sick that I couldn't stay in school for the whole day every day

i was (other than the days i could roll out of bed for work) bedridden for 2 years and mis-diagnosed by another dr as drepressed and no antidepressant worked. 3 days into the geodon 80 i was a new person. unfortunately, after about 8 years on it, it quit working, but if i quit taking it i start seeing things (which has never happened to me), hearing things, and won't sleep a wink at night. my dr is now phasing me on to latuda and wants me to slow the geodon. pray for me. oh yeah, if you take this for the first time, plan it 30 mins before bed b/c i could fall asleep mid-sentence when it kicked in. hense, now i won't sleep at all without it.Read More Read Less

I was falsely diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Manic Bipolar when I was 12 years old. I was given this medication along with several others. According to other people I have blacked out and threatened people, assaulted people and tried to hurt people. I had been taken off the medication cold turkey when I was 14 and a series of my life completely changed. I felt like I couldn't control myself. This medication is so dangerous and it could have killed me. I suggest going to multiple different doctors before agreeing to take this medication.Read More Read Less

The maker of this drug had provided me with it for years because of the expense. Now the drug is generic and still too expensive. The drug itself works wonderfully for my bipolar disorder. My bouts with severe depression have been reduced drastically.

When first taking this medication, I felt extremely sleepy. I have since gradually increased my dose from 20 mg to 120 mg. I keep telling my doctor to increase my dosage to get me through the day. I love this medication. I feel more sane by taking this medicine. I do have the "lazy eye" syndrome so I know my doctor needs to prescribe me more of this medication, surefire sign.

i have been taking this medication since august of 2010. i have had such a great experience with this drug. the voices in my head are gone. the racing thoughts are gone. the hallucinations and delusions are gone. the paranoia is gone too. i have only experienced one side effect and that is a restlessness inside my body. for example, without meaning to and without realizing it, i have to be moving all the time. if im sitting down i catch myself rocking either back and forth or from side to side. i always wind up pacing when standing. i hate this and i try to control it but i cannot do it. there is a medicine called benzatropine that works wonderfully. it honestly stops the need to always be moving. i am glad for that. i have energy and can now function normally in my life. i work, raise 3 kids alone, attend church regularly. i even volunteer at my twins school. me and kids go out, go on vacation, and have lots of fun. geodon not only works well but it has made me feel better than ive ever felt before. thank God for this drug and the scientists at pfizer for discovering it. p.s. no weight gain at all!!!Read More Read Less
