I did the 5 hour treatment through IV to try and get it overwith as soon as possible! The IV needle hurt the entire time it was in my arm and the medication stung what seemed like forever. I had extreme weakness and terrible headaches for days afterwards. This just in the vein where the IV was is now bubbling up under the skin (very strange & painful) so back to doctor tomorrow! But I too stopped ...
My brother died 36 hours after his first iron infusion - of sudden cardiac arrest.

I ALSO HAD A ALLERGIC REACTION TO THIS MED.BUT MY DR. WAS ABLE TO GIVE BENADRYL12.5 MG INJECTION,TYLENOL 1000MG BY MOUTH,ATIVAN 0.5 MG IV,SOLUMEDROL 60 MG,IV.AND THE VENOFER 200MG. IT HAS BEEN THE ONLY SOLUTION TO MY ANEMIA.IT'S A FIVE DAY PROCEESE AND MAKES YOU VERY DROWSY,BUT IT WORKS.
