I am not one to take prescription drugs. Having said that, after 4 years of increasing sexual pain I finally trusted my doctor in her recommendation for Vagifem. Pleasantly, I found that within the first week I had greatly reduced pain during intercourse. AND, during the 4 years when it was painful, I started having Urinary Tract Infections, UTIs. I am happy with the results, except for the bloating and gas. I am a cancer survivor (but in a great relationship) and find the risk acceptable.

I've been using this product for 2 months to relieve painful intercourse and it is wonderful! I was wary after reading the many complaints, especially about migraines (I suffered painful headaches like clockwork each month before I reached menopause) but I haven't had any unpleasant side-effects whatsoever. Vagifem has made a significant improvement in my life. Definitely worth the high price for me.

I am 70 years old and have been using Vagifem for at least 10 - 15 years. I'm down to one a week and have been for a few years. I have had a pap smear every year and everything has been fine, but my doctor said I don't need one anymore. Even though this worked very well with no side effects that I can blame on Vagifem, I think I will take a break for a while as I am trying to get off medications. If I start have burning, etc., I will go back on them. By the way, Coconut Oil works great!

I am a nurse practitioner and have been taking this medication prescribed by my physician for four years, however when I had to go on Medicare with supplement, I have had to cut back on use of it because of the cost. Am currently waiting for my Canadian pharmacy order to come through with brand Vagifem much more affordable from the same pharmaceutical company. We are really being over charged here in the U.S.

Within a few days of starting treatment with the 14 day onset, I felt so much better. I went to the twice per week dosage of 10 mpg and have continued for about a month. I am so happy with my results and I have my libido back that has been missing for over 10 years since menopause hit. I sure hope future studies find this drug safe. I almost decided not to take it once I read the insert describing all of the risks. As others, my Dr. thinks it's safe at 10 mcg.

Have been taking Vagifem (in spite of the cost) for several years and it has worked great. I read on this site a connection between the drug and thinning hair, but I've assumed thinning hair was just due to normal aging. Anyone else experience such a connection? Also have diarrhea every three months and am wondering if that too may be due to the drug. Thanks for responding.

I am 62 years old and have been using the tablets for about a year and a half now - I use 1 10MCB tablet twice a week. Sex was gradually becoming more painful until finally I literally could not even stand the pain. I didn't realize what was causing the pain. Used the cream at first but it was way too messy - I had to use a pad every day! Next my doctor prescribed the tablets and they are wonderful. I feel like a normal woman again AND prior to taking the vagifem I had NEVER had a vaginal orgasm in my life - only before with direct clitoral stimulation - now it happens frequently. I highly recommend this - no side effects.Read More Read Less

The drug was easy to use and extremely effective. After 2 weeks of use I started to have headaches, diarrhea, bloating and gas/abdominal pains. Then burning and itching, nausea and gained 5 lbs. While driving to work the light bulb turned on in my head. I am having an allergic reaction to the drug, exhibiting every side effect listed. On my way to the doctor right now.

I am 59 years old and started using this product three years ago due to atrophy of the vagina which was affecting my bladder and sex life. My doctor tried several things, all of which had serious side effects for me. This product, on the other hand, has worked great for me on both issues. My only complaint has been the cost (and the name, seriously?!?), but weighing the pros and cons of my treatment options (including no treatment) the benefits of having a healthy bladder and a healthy sex life with no side effects, I decided it is worth it for me at this time. I was very happy with this medication. It resolved all of my dryness issues and made everything feel much better. And I was only using it 1x a week. However, I have had the most serious hair loss I have ever experienced. I stopped it almost 3 weeks ago and I am still losing hair. I was also bruising really easy, which I am not sure is a side effect. I would like to know from the other women who had hair loss if it was reversible when stopping the medication.

I am 66 years old and taking the drug for vaginal dryness. It has had almost no effect even though I've been taking for about a year. I haven't noticed any side effects. Using Replens a few times a week and an hour or so before sex has offered relief.

Intercourse was very painful for me. After using for 10 days there was a significant improvement but after two weeks I got a really bad yeast infection. I also have a very strong family history for breast cancer and I have decided to stop taking it and try something less risky.

71 years old, have used for 5 years for painful sex. Added Estrace cream 2 years ago 3 nights a week. All good now except the cost. Am going to try vagifem 1 night a week instead of 2 times. No side effects.

64 yr. old experiencing very painful intercourse. Cannot afford it nor can I justify the cost of this drug...$259.00 for a 30 day supply...12 pills...outrageous! I will go back to using the cream that works if used as directed...just a little messy. Don't waste your time or money. Few side effects with the cream too.

Have been taking (at great expense) for nearly a year and have gotten minimal benefit in exchange for very significant hair loss and other side effects. The drug caused a very slight reduction in the painful intercourse symptoms but not anywhere near enough to justify the hair loss. I am seeing my doctor soon about other options.

I am 50 years old and just starting menopause. I have experienced 6 UTI's in 1 year and was uncomfortable during sex. My doctor recommended Vagifem and it has really helped increase my libido and made sex enjoyable again after 3 weeks use. Wish me luck with the UTI's. Its $70 for 14 tablets where I live, but so far worth every penny. I'm sleeping better and feeling like myself again.
