It definitely lowered my pressure, but the side effects was bad swelling of the ankles and hands. Also caused nightmares. I had to switch to a new drug because the swelling was just too bad.

This prescription comes in a carboard package that requires the user to punch out each capsule. I find it very difficult to release each dose from the package. On average 70% of of capsules are smashed on at least one end. I haven,t broken any capsules open but have come very close. Is there any possibility of exploring the possibility of packaging in bottles in lieu of the cardboard punch out method?? They are packaged as Diltiazem CD and are generic for Cartia XT 180/24HR CAP.

My blood pressure is going UP on this drug and is staying up. Many side effects - sore joints, dry mouth, cough, vision changes. I've only been on this for two weeks and can't wait to get off it.

I would like to know if it's safe to use the dosage: 240mg in morning and 180mg at bedtime.

I was only on Cartia for 1 month.I experienced severe pain in both legs & sometimes my arms.My local pharmacist refused to refill it because it interacted with almost all of my other meds, something my Dr.obviously didn't bother to check before prescribing it.It's been 2 months since my Dr. took me off Cartia, and I still have pain in my upper thighs. The other medicine I take is Ranexa.
