I was diagnosed last month (May 2015) Iron Deficient Anemic w/glucose level of 6.6 and normal is 12. I'm normally fair w/red hair, but was pasty white when I saw my doctor. She said I had every symptom of Anemia and immediately did blood tests. She called me at work next morning and instructed me to go straight to ER. I was admitted and given transfusion of 2 pints blood and 1 pint iron. Was hospi...
We purchase this medication from our local Walgreens. I have asked the pharmacists about alternative packaging and they state that none is available. Your packaging is EXTREMELY difficult to remove. I’ve very low Ferris and my hematologist prescribed this pill. I took it on empty stomach before lunch and boy it hurts my stomach. I’ve never experienced anything like this. I’m bloated, have acid reflux and stomach pain. I’m going to try to take it with food. If the symptoms persists, I’ll stop using it.

FYI: packaging challenge - go at it from the back, the foil will break easily with a pointed object and peel back so you can get to med. Press pointed object on soft spot of foil, aim away from tablet and press. When foil pops y
you can rip the foil away with the pointed object.

Many comment on how hard the drug is to open - saying the company is stupid etc. IRON KILLS! It's packaged, and very well I might add, for your SAFETY. If you were patient and sensible enough to read the packaging you would notice there is a corner in which you peel, and easily release the pill from its SAFETY packaging.

Was hospitalized 4 days and was given intravenous iron every day to get levels up. At discharge my level was 9 and I started taking Ferrex 150 2x day along w/Vit C. Within days, I was feeling better. Dr said I'd probably take for rest of my life (I'm almost 60) but will gradually feel much better. My symptoms have almost completely disappeared and I've only taken for 3wks. I felt weak and tired all the time w/out exertion, dizzy, grumpy, daily migraine headaches, very white color, short of breath, trouble concentrating, sporadic and irregular heartbeat w/chest pain, not sleeping, daily charley horses, muscle cramps and aching in legs and arms, and cold hands and feet, so she immediately knew it was Anemia. I am so thankful that she had the knowledge to know what was wrong with me when no other doctor even questioned it. While in hospital, I had colonoscopy, endoscopy and heart scans done and they found no bleeding or heart issues, but she thinks that over the years these symptoms became my 'normal' and caused the Anemia to gradually develop within me. That's why I didn't notice any big changes, but that I always felt bad. If the symptoms had not gotten worse, I might not have even noticed, When they did, I knew something was seriously wrong with me. So far, I feel good and believe I'll get much better with time. I recommend this medication. Read More Read Less

I have to use a knife to slice, along the side of each pill, then dig off the backing from the pill package. With difficulty remove each pill and place them in a pill bottle. As this drug is geared primarily toward seniors, a totally child proof package is unnecessary. Please consider selling them in bottle form or redesign your foil and paper backing to one that is simply foil or something more easily pierced or tearable with fingers so we can more easily remove the pills. Thank you.Read More Read Less

Little to no side effects as compared to others I have tried in the past. Must take with vitamin C to get full benefit. I had very low iron and it took almost 3 months to see any noticeable results in energy level. Taking 2 a day as prescribed by my Hematologist who checks my iron levels about every 3 months.
