Today I have been taking Contrave for 30 days. I am 5'7" & was 188 lbs. when I began.  In 30 days I lost 10 lbs. virtually effortlessly.  10 lbs. is not a lot of weight, and I have 33 more lbs. to loose to get to a healthy weight, but considering I sit at a desk all day & study at a desk all evening & never exercise I am thrilled.  The first 2 days I took the medication I felt a little "disconnect...

I took Contrave for 3 weeks following directions. After a few days, I started to feel dryness in my mouth which followed by constant strong bitter taste. I decided to stick to it, but by the end of week three late at night I suddenly started to feel a sharp pain in my lower back which quickly started to spread out up my body. I felt a sharp pain in my chest & back, tightness in my chest and shortn...

I tried this medication because the doctor told me it was less expensive than the competitors. I wasted my money. The dosing schedule was annoying, including the 2 tablets twice daily. Very inconvenient. I felt very nauseaus and vomited a few time. I lost a modest 5lbs in a month. I stopped this medication and started another once daily medication that my phycian recommended.

I am in week 2 of this (1 tab in morning, 1 tab at night) and it has worked wonders in curbing my cravings and decreasing my appetite. My mood overall is better as well. In the almost 2 weeks I've been on it I've lost 6.6 pounds so far. No side-effects for me, other than making me thirsty for water, which is a good thing!

I started week 3 and have been feeling really strange. I too have the ringing in the ears and dizziness. I also can't drink any alcohol! I decided to have one vodka and club while at a friends house over the weekend, and I had major heart palpations. BUT, as I started typing this, I realized I accidentally went to 2-2 instead of 2-1, so I am guessing this is the reason my side effects are so extreme this week! In 2 weeks I have lost 6lbs, so I am very happy so far. I will adjust to 2-1 for a couple of days to try and balance out. Read More Read Less

I just started week 2. The first week I experienced nausea and had a splitting headache one day. I felt dizzy the first three days then it subsided. Yesterday was my first day on one AM and one PM pill, this morning I feel dizzy again, Im hoping it will only last a day or two. I'm expecting this to happen now each time the dosage increases. I hope it eventually stops. My appetite has decreased the last couple of days. I know this drug takes time to work so I will keep taking it and see what happens.Read More Read Less

I just started; on day 6. Contrave has greatly improved my glucose reading. I do feel weird some days. I read the side effects and they are scary, however, in reading these reviews I feel better....but...I'm praying for God's protection.

I have been on Contrave for 2 months now. I was on during the holidays so I think my weight loss is not a fare judgement. I have to date lost 10 pounds. The side effects were HORRIBLE for me. I was irritable, sensitive, ring of ears, vomiting, constipation ( all this through the holidays) But I stuck with it and most of the symptoms are gone (except constipation and ringing in ears) - YAY! I've lost all cravings for food and alcohol. I would sneak the occasional cigarette and now I can't even. What this tells me is I am ADDICTED to food and this is working. So strange. It seems like the people with the worse side effects are the people it is working for? just an observation from the reviews. Try and stick with it. Seriously the worst side effects EVER - but I did adjust. Good Luck! I'll update Read More Read Less

Great results. I've been on it 4 weeks and have lost 16 pounds. A bit of nausea on a few days, but I think that's because I over ate on those days. I also cut out sugar, because I heard that it can also cause nausea. I'm mainly interested in it for one ingredient: naltrexone. My doctor told me it would help my hypothyroid. And it really has. I haven't been able to lose weight in over 4 years because my metabolism tanked due to Hashimoto's disease (low thyroid). I'm 60 years old, and am now eating a normal calorie diet and losing weight. That's unusual for me, since without this drug I would be gaining at this amount of calories. I also exercise, and have done so before I started Contrave. So I don't think it's the exercise either. I really think this drug has helped with my metabolism problems, and maybe has corrected my leptin resistance. Only time will tell.Read More Read Less

Been on it for 3 weeks now; taking 2 pills in am and 2 in pm. Haven't had any side effects, but also haven't had any reduction in appetite. In fact, the first 1 or 2 weeks I seemed hungrier. This has been totally ineffective for me. I'm talking to my doc this week. Don't see a reason to take something that doesn't work.

I have just started week 3 and have lost 3lbs alone this week. I am eating better and being more physical but I have also noticed that I don't crave chocolate like I used to. I also have a great sense of well being. There are a few side effects with this medication, especially with the initial dose but I am willing to hang in there and see. It is better than a stimulant any day.

I will discontinue to use the Contrave because of the side effects. I have been having severe headaches along with dizziness which make it hard to function because of not feeling well. I discontinued use for a couple of days and felt better, but when I resumed the medication, the headaches and dizziness returned. I am convinced the drug caused those symptoms. I also have had periods where I just felt "weird inside" for lack of a better term. It felt as though I was on a buzz and my blood pressure and heart rate were elevated. My normal BP is usually around 95/65. On this drug it has been running around 127/107.Read More Read Less

I've been on this medication for almost a week - one pill in morning and one at night. I was hoping for instant appetite loss, which I experienced with phentermine the first time I took it, but it seems it takes a few weeks for the effectiveness to kick in. I haven't had any nausea at all; had a very mild headache one day (but I'm prone to headaches anyway). Have lost a few pounds but fingers crossed that my appetite gets totally knocked out pretty soon and I can lose more rapidly. Appreciate everyone's reviews, especially those who have been on Contrive for a few weeks or months - thanks!Read More Read Less

I am on this drug to help lose the weight that I gained while my thyroid was "shut down". I have hypothyroidism and needed something to help lose the extra weight I gained before I found out I had this condition. Week one went fine for me, no problems I even lost 3 pounds, I exercise a lot and eat healthy pretty much every meal. Week two is where I'm having problems. I was doing fine until the 4th day of week two. This seems to be a nighttime occurance, I started feeling sick to my stomach, I ended up in the bathroom for almost an hour with diarrhea. This happened again on the 5th day. Today is day 6 of week two and I just spent the past 15 minutes vomiting. I am calling my doctor tomorrow to discuss these issues and see how I should continue. Just so everyone knows I don't normally get sick I haven't thrown up in over a year. My fiancé and I ate the exact same things all week and he didn't get sick, he actually eats more than I do for lunch and dinner. So I know it wasn't the food the past couple of days. I hope everyone taking this medication takes the side effects seriously, I will from now on. Read More Read Less

Have been on for just over 1 month. I'm on the full dosage of 2 pills in the am and 2 pills pm. Feeling mild nausea a few times, mild headaches some of the time. Only after about 3-4 weeks did I start to feel some loss of appetite. At first I seemed to have increased appetite for first week or 2. Having a hard time remembering to take the pm dose. Hopefully as stress of the holidays eases up will be better able to feel results.

If you can handle the extreme nausea then maybe this might work for you. I have terrible headaches. It never did give me any energy so I see no point to continue taking this medication. I've taken it for 2 weeks and every time I up my dose I start to feel really sick. I don't recommend this medication. Besides it being expensive there is no effectiveness.

I noticed each time I increased my dosage I would be very tired, lethargic, sick to my stomach, and headachy for the day. After that I was fine. I never really had cravings so maybe this helps with those. I've not lost any weight and I'm on week 4. The Scale Down program sends you a nice electronic scale. Each time you weigh it tracks your progress and sends you a text message. When I weighed in the second day it sent me a text stating that I had gained .7 pounds and 'had better consider packing my lunch today' (I had eaten dinner the night before but not had a BM since). It has also said I've gained 2.5 pounds between Sunday (2 days ago) and this morning. Sunday my weight read 299 and change; today it was 300 and change. Not sure where it's coming up with 2.5 pounds. For the price each month I wish I had more positive things to say.Read More Read Less

This medication caused severe nausea, headaches and nervousness. The only good side effect was that I slept better. I did not lose any weight. I had to stop the medication when the dose increased to 2 tablets in the morning and one in the evening. I was too sick to take it. I still wanted to eat. I think this medication is geared more towards stopping cravings, something I never really had. If you need to lose weight and cave into cravings then this might be the right medication for you, otherwise I don't see that it helps.Read More Read Less
