I had the Paragard and was always bleeding during/after sex, so I switched to the pill. I heard nightmares about taking the pill and was nervous. I can honestly say there have been very minimal side effects for me. I'll mention the ones you hear most about. I spotted for the first month or two. My periods were lighter right off the bat, though. After being on it for 5 months now, my period lasts o...

I have been scared to death that something was seriously wrong with me until I read reviews here! I have been having spotting and break through bleeding the entire 4 months I've been taking this and have had random cramping at all times of the month with last night being the absolute worst waking me up in the middle of the night and lasting for two hours before I could go back to sleep. I tried to...

I have PMDD, and my doctor prescribed this medication to me after I had some negative experiences with BeYaz. I've only been on it a month, and I already hate it. Weight gain, boating (even in my feet - my shoes don't fit!), acne, mood swings, etc. etc. It's awful and I would rather deal with the heavier periods than any of these awful side effects.

I read the horrid stories about minestrin and I did not even want to give it a chance! I was originally on Trisprintec and it gave me the worse cramps the entire time. Trisprintec also gave me yeast infections or bladder infections every 2/3 months. I switched to Loestrin and as everyone else said, it was the best birth control ever. I went 2 years without an infection at ALL before they discontinued it. This was literally a life changer to not have to worry about that on a monthly basis. I was so disappointed when it was discontinued. I unfortunately had to go back on Trisprintect for a few months between the dscontinuation and now. I was THRILLED to hear about the new Lomedia which is supposed to truly be a generic version and an equivalent to Loestrin. So far, I have taken it for a few weeks and my moods have evened out and my cramps are gone! I definitely suggest trying Lomedia as the alternative. It is a very new generic so your best bet is to request it at an actual Rite Aid pharmacy instead of the grocery store pharmacy. Also, since it is new please remember to come back and review it for other women who are curious as well. I give it 5 stars so far because my cramps and uneasy stomach are gone! A lot of medications have too many hormones. This one doesnt and it is the perfect pill for me.Read More Read Less

I have only just completed month 1 a few days ago. Loestrin to Minastrin to this. I am so glad I don't have to be on Minastrin anymore. In this month, I felt pretty normal (I think) until the inactive pills. Maybe a certain laziness even when I have gotten sleep, which is not me. I like going around to places and my mood has been very weird. The first 2 inactives, I had no bleeding or cramping yet. The last 2 were terrible. All 3 of these (Loestrin, Minastrin, Lomedia) have made me have cramps when I never had cramps off of birth control. These cramps were the worst though. I had to continuously keep up on 2+ Advil as needed for the entire day. If I did not keep up with it throughout the night too, the cramps would wake me up out of my sleep and I would literally be kept up. I was bleeding so much, I was afraid to even go to sleep or do anything in the first place. I would not even stop bleeding enough to get out of the shower. It was crazy. It all basically felt better the night of the 4th inactive pill into the day of the 1st regular. I thought it was all better, but false alarm. The next day(1st reg), I had a little bit of milk and all of a sudden it just offset gushing blood ridiculously for like the entire day. Then I was still spotting into the 3rd day, which I usually don't have to deal with. I am scared for next month and I am hoping this goes away. Fortunately though, my skin cleared up from it getting so bad on Minastrin :) !Read More Read Less

I am bipolar, take several medications, and have heavy periods. I had a horrible experience with the Mirena IUD. So far, with Lomedia 24, I've had headaches, stomach cramps and break through bleeding. However, my acne has cleared up (within days) and the side effects are now starting to ease up. The first month was rough but I'm pretty much getting better now. Overall, I am pretty satisfied that this pill will satisfy my gyn health needs.

I had to switch initially from Loestrin 24 FE to Minastrin 24 FE and HATED it, I cramped and bled literally for two months straight. Heard about generic LoMedia and noticed a positive difference IMMEDIATELY. If you are looking for a substitute for Loestrin 24FE Lomedia is the way to go.

I switched top lomedia 24 after dealing with the horrid acne and bloating from minastrin 24. I had been on loestrin 24 for years without a problem. After starting lomedia I began to notice cramping that lasted all day. My left ovary was also constantly in pain. I thought maybe my endometriosis was flaring up but I do skip the placebos therefore I don't get a period. After the constant cramping came bad nausea, lightheadedness and frequent urination. I swore I was somehow pregnant! After taking a few tests and getting negative results it knew for sure that it was the pill causing all of this. I would normally stick it out for a few months but I felt so awful that I lasted about 3 weeks before switching back to minastrin. Still looking for a decent pill that is exactly like loestrin 24.
