I wanted to give up. I was going to, I know this. It was my last chance of trying anymore anti depressants, and to my surprise, it has worked. I do not think of taking my life anymore. I'm not 100% there, but being on it now for five weeks, I feel better each day that passes. It saved me!

I was on Citalopram for many years for major depression. Had anhedonia - inability to feel pleasure, which was probably caused from beign on Citalopram so long. When I tried Fetzima 40 mg, I sweated a lot and got some side effects when I went out to the grocery store. It is a strong medicine. It scared me a little so I went back to Citalopram and asked the doctor for a lower dosage. On 20mg I feel fine, I feel cold or sweat sometimes but that doesn't bother me too much. I am more interested in things, in people and in my life. I did cry the other day reading a a book, and normally I don't cry. But it is a good drug because it's making me "feel" have feelings again. I have eased into taking it, stopping it one or two days and returning to citalopram... but now, the 4th time I'm back on Fetzima and I'm going to stay on it. It makes me feel a lot more normal than the Citalopram. I will try to go up to 40 mg and see how that works before I go back to see my doctor in two months. So that is my story. I did feel aggressive and irritable during my first trial with it, but that is just because for so many years I was so docile and unfeeling on the other Rx. The Fetzima did make me have strange dreams, running, fast, vivid, colorful, dreams but that is most likely a side effect that I can handle. Especially, I get strange dreams if I feel cold while dreaming, and Fetzima makes me cold sometimes, so I have to be sure to stay warm at night so that I don't have very busy dreams. We'll see. Have tried every medication available for Chronic Fatigue and Depression. I still take 450mg of generic Wellbutrin and 120mg of generic Cymbalta (name brand way more effective bu got too expensive when a generic came out. My doc gave me samples of 40mg Fetzima to take replace with 60mg Cymbalta. So, taking Wellbutrin, 60mg Cymbalta and 40mg Fetzima, I felt great! But when I went to get it filled it was CRAZY expensive! We have great insurance and I had a $50 coupon from the website, it was still $254! I cant pay that!, certainly not every month. That is just crazy and I'm mad.Read More Read Less

Have been on Fetzima for well over 1 yr now. Started with 20mg, after a few days to 40mg. No side effects for me. After 3 months changed from 40mg to 80mg, 3 months later to 120mg. Also, take low dose of Wellbutrin. This RX has worked well!!

I started on this drug while also on Effexor XR. I knew it was going to cause Serotonin Syndrome so I had to be careful, which is a major cause of increased Blood Pressure and Headaches, etc. Usually its because the dose is too high, or you are titrating too fast. I have done well considering. To curb some of the "Occipital Neuralgia" a form of headache, sensitivity to light and sound, etc... My Psychiatrist and I have been using Gabapentin for a short time and small dose... 200mg or so. Most people take 900mg per day. I am on 80mg now and switching to 120. We tried 160 but the side effects were too severe. Frankly, im on a lot of meds so my advice may be limited, but so far, this is not a bad compromise and is at least another choice compared to Cymbalta or Effexor XR.Read More Read Less

I saw a new psychiatrist yesterday afternoon,I was looking to find something that was more effective in treating my mood than what I was already taking. I was previously taking Zoloft which was fine, no negative effects but nothing that lifted me up either. She recommended Fetzima. I took the pills around 12:30 pm. It made my blood pressure skyrocket to the the point where I ended up in an Emergency clinic. This also with the affect of light headedness and upset stomach. In the end I simply had to ride out the affects of the drug.Needless to say, said doctor is fired and I will not be taking this drug again.Read More Read Less

I've used meds all my life and this is the newest one for me. It works great at treating the depression and my energy is up quite a bit. I do get light headed and "stumbly" from it but not bad. My only big complaint is that I sweat 24/7, especially late nite and have 6-10 hot flashes per day and I'm male. Not sure if I will stay on this long term. It does help me a lot but the sweating is annoying.

If you do well on Cymbalta and are willing to go slow with increasing your dosage and tolerating the side effects, then you will do well on this drug. I, personally, read every experience before taking it and am so very glad that I did. Approaching with caution, taking with food, and tapering off my Wellbutrin really helped. Wellbutrin does not mix with this drug. In fact, a lot of things do not mix with this drug. Better check all the drugs that have major interactions for a better experience. I did, and I have been ill for over 30 years and have been on every drug on the planet. Abilify and this drug mix well, along with topamax for weight loss. I have been energetic and am finally getting a life back after years of hell and hospitalizations. Try this drug, you have nothing to lose, except your depression. Read More Read Less

Lexapro works for anxiety but made me gain weight and I was tired alllll the time. Zoloft -I lost ability to have orgasm, grinded teeth, no weight gain Celexa works for anxiety but I was foggy, memory problems, cant think and if went over 10 mg couldn't have orgasm Fetzima, sex is great, no weight gain but didn't work for the main reason, anxiety. It actually was a speedier drug so it made me more anxious and hyper. A little impulsive and rageful.

I have Bi-Polar type II, panic issues, and severe depression. I'm also taking lamictal, alprazolam, and prazosin (for nightmares). I had been on a high dose of Effexor for nearly 10 years. My depression was consuming me. My mental health doctor suggested switching to Fetzima and I was willing to try anything. Unfortunately, she tapered my Effexor WAY too fast and I had truly horrible Exxefor withdrawals that lasted at least 2 weeks. It was debilitating. I slowly titrated up on the Fetzima and I am feeling better than I have felt in years! So far Fetzima has been a god send for me. My only annoying side effect is urinary hesitation. I sometimes have to close my eyes and mentally count to 10 before I can pee. But even that is getting better. I'm currently taking 80mg and I'm doing well on that dose. Read More Read Less

I went to the doctor because I was feeling very low in life and about myself. I had a hard time waking up in the mornings, didn't enjoy being around people had a hard time concentrating, thoughts and attempted suicide so I went to seek help. First 2 days on 20 mg now up to 40 mg. I am going into my second week of this medication, it is the first antidepressant I take. The side effects the first week were decreased appetite, clouded thoughts, constant feeling of wanting to throw up, very agrivated with a lot of things, not in a good mood. Now today is my 9th day on it and the side effects have changed slightly, I have really good days, great elevated mood with some aggitation but it's tolerable, constipation, still little appetite, cold sweats but I am not going to stop this medication because I feel like a new person. I am happy, I can be happy with myself and others, I am able to concentrate, focus, work, smile. The good of this med out weighs the bad. I feel alive again! Good luck to all! Don't lose hope!Read More Read Less

I am up to 40 mg for now. I did get sick and have some odd side effects for approx 2 weeks or so, light headed, vision blurred and slight fever with small others. I have headaches but cannot totally say this is a side effect being I had them before. attitude and feelings are great but the big issue now is irritation. I get extremely angry and rage off the charts! Back to the doctor I go.

I took my first dose of 40mg. Three hours later I was involved in a road rage incident (very unlike me) and a few hours after that began vomiting violently. I won't be taking it again.

I was initially on Cymbalta for 5 years. I asked to be taken off as I had gained 20 pounds and was not feeling as well as I did when first taking it. I lasted about 4 months. The depression had slowly been creeping back. I tried Prozac (again). This time, it didn't work; as a matter of fact, it made my anxiety much worse. My doctor recommended trying Fetzima. I read the reviews here and was concerned, but decided to try it anyway. What was the worst that could happen? Well, I have to say, I feel so much better! I have just been increased to 60 mg and I feel really good. I am able to focus better, have more energy and have been able to return to work. (Part-time, for now.) Hoping things keep going in my favor.Read More Read Less

I have depression and anxiety and was on 25 mg zoloft but was still getting depressed every once in awhile and i also was starting to have panic attacks. My doctor decided to switch me to 40 mg fetzima. I started 4 days starting on the 20 mg and then 40 mg. The side effects that i noticed were a being edgy and snappy. After 2 weeks of being on it the edgy feeling went away but im still snappy from time to time. I also did not want to eat as much. I didnt get nauseous but i just didn't think about eating. Which is odd because i love to snack and eat. After about a month on 40 mg fetzima im not depressed and ive been happier than ever. The feeling of not wanting to eat went away and i starting eating like i use to. My doctor also heard about some of his patients losing weight while on this medicine but that hasnt happened to me yet.I would love to lose 10 to 15 lbs. Ive seen alot of bad reviews but im one of the few i guess that its worked for. The only bad thing about this medicine is the PRICE. OVER $200! Beware! Not cheap!Read More Read Less

I started taking 40mg of fetzima and increased to 80mg. My doctor was trying to ween me off of viibryd which had horrible side effects. Fetzima seemed to help my depression in the beginning but I noticed I was agitated and crying a lot. I took this along with 25mg of bupropion. I'm going back to cymbalta.

I started Fetzima 2.5 weeks ago, working up to 80mg by week 2. I started having bad side effects at 80mg. I've had waves of nausea, vertigo, headache, irritability, hot flashes, palpitations & heart pounding to the point of chest pain, mental fogginess & been a bit teary for the last week. I spent most of the week in bed. I couldn't function. I've backed off to 40mg & most of the side effects have eased somewhat, but I still really don't feel good. The doctor wants me to go back up to 80mg in 3 days & I really just want to ditch this medicine. I might try 1 day, but it takes a few days to get the full effect. I don't really want to risk going through that again. If there are any increased energy benefits I wouldn't have been able to recognize them through all the waves of nausea, etc. I've taken mostly tricyclic (many years ago) and SSRI antidepressants for most of the last 33 years. I've never had anything that comes close to the awful side effects of this medicine!Read More Read Less
