I wanted to give up. I was going to, I know this. It was my last chance of trying anymore anti depressants, and to my surprise, it has worked. I do not think of taking my life anymore. I'm not 100% there, but being on it now for five weeks, I feel better each day that passes. It saved me!

Hi, seldom do I write a review, but for Fetzima I think that I need to. I have gotten up to 60mg dose taken with Welbutrin XL 150mg. I have had no bad side effects. I was on Cymbalta and Welbutrin for about 7 years before and gained a lot of weight. Fetzima has helped cut my appetite and made it possible to do the Jenny Craig diet. I am sorry for those of you that have had a bad experien ce. Maybe your dose was too high, or maybe the fact that I take it with Welbutrin makes the difference. Just letting you know that I love this medication (taking it for 5 months now)!!Read More Read Less

I took Prozac and Wellbutrin for at least 20 years, but it seemed like the Prozac might no longer be working. I was lethargic, depressed, teary, just blah. My nurse practitioner put me on Fetzima and I think it is great. I did have some increased itching early on, but that went away. I also have noticed that, though I am a compulsive overeater, my appetite was diminished and my cravings for binge food lessened. And another surprise was that, even though Fetzima has not been approved for use in chronic pain situations, my pain has been lessened considerably also. For me, this med really works well and I am very glad that I ended up with a nurse practitioner this good, who was aware of this medication and put me on it. Read More Read Less

I encourage everyone to read ALL the reviews before making a judgement on the effectiveness of Fetzima. I have been on dozens of meds for my depression since I was 13 and this one has been the least intrusive in my life. Am I a normal happy person now? NO! But I can finally see myself getting there AND I am no longer suicidal, angry, hoarding, hospitalized, crying, stuck in my house or feeling the helplessness of extreme major depression. I have experienced weeks of ECT, had a Vagal Nerve Stimulator implanted (that really made a huge positive difference in my life)and I have had years where I spent more time in the locked hospital unit than I did out. For me personally, I don't ever see me experiencing any of those nightmares in my life again. I know I'm not cured, if that is even possible, but Fetzima has certainly given my family and I hope that I will live out the last years of my life without any major depressive episodes. After reading the reviews I feel such sadness for those who tragically lost loved ones and those who have experienced bad side effects while they or you were taking this med. I truly know how hard it is to trust your doctor telling you once again that the side effects will go away and this med is the one that's going to help. Only to look back and see how wrong they were when your life and depression were no better and often times even worse. Or you experienced another change in meds and the side effects turned out to affect your life even more than the depression. I would encourage anyone having side effects to talk to your doctor to see if there is something that can get you past them. I wanted to personally write a letter to each reviewer in hopes of helping support them while going through the side effects. I wish there was a way that reviewers could update their postings to show how their lives were going a few weeks, months or even years later after using, or not, Fetzima. I hope you find a good path for yourself. Read More Read Less

I was put on Fetzima after 25 years of other depression meds. I began with the starter pack and within a couple weeks was on 120 mg. for MDD. It seemed to be working good for a few weeks. Then I realized something was just all wrong. I was having suicidal thoughts every day....and cried at least ten times every day. I had evil thoughts in my head and thought everyone was against me. I stopped going to church. I became mean and even my pets were afraid of me because of my screaming. I screamed at myself....the walls....just to get it out. I cursed myself....a lot....for any simple thing, ex. If I dropped something, I'd call myself a stupid "B". And then I'd cry...again. My language, to myself, was awful. I used the worst of curse words.....and I am supposed to be a senior Christian woman. I became my own worst enemy. I hated myself for what I was going and couldn't stop. Without a doubt, I do have MDD and need proper meds.......but NOT this one. Please be careful when taking this medication. And by all means, let your family and friends intervene when they see something wrong. Listen to them. They will see what you may refuse to admit.....just as I did. Read More Read Less

I have had side effects of extreme lethargy and, oddly, itching all over that feels like it starts from the insde. On the upside, I can really feel an improvement in mood and general well being. This is very new, after years of taking antidepressants.

My time with this drug was a nightmare, I had hot flashes almost everytime I went anywhere or stepped into a different room, I haven't taken it for a week and I'm STILL getting them. They're getting worse aswell the flashes are so bad they get painful and very itchy, the pain comes from not scratching and it feels like being thrown into a pit of needles. So a word from the wise STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE!! A hot flash of mine got so bad I scratched until I slashed my shoulder and didn't even feel it. Yeah, side effects are rare, and I thought I was safe from them, but this made me realize they're not rare, and they're VERY possible. Read More Read Less

I have been on just about every antidepressant prior to this generation. This in my opinion works slightly better than lexapro which also worked for an extended period of time. I have not found too many side effects with this medication. I'd say mostly i have found it to be effective if not more effective than previous generations of antidepressants. Id recommend it. ive been dealing with a mood condition since i was 19 i am now 30 so i have tried quite a bit. For all of you fellow sufferers id recommend this drug and if you are just depressed no real manic symptoms look into high doses of neurontin that stuff makes you feel happy and if that works at least its a start. I tried Fetzima when my prior anti-depressant stopped working, and the results were horrible. My depression symptoms increased drastically; I was much worse off than previously. I don't remember how long I was on the Fetzima, but I believe it was only for a few weeks. I know doctors say you're supposed to give it time to work, but I wasn't willing to take that risk.

My doctor gave me this drug to try and I ended up getting sick on it. I got headaches, hot flashes and a terrible upset stomach and it gave me tons of gas in my stomach. My doctor suggested this drug and it's a newer one and the last new one he tried on my I had a terrible reaction to too. I don't trust the newer psych drugs and rather have the older ones tried on me. Fetzima is in the Effexor family and any drug in the Effexor family gives me tummy troubles so I have to stay away from these drugs. Read More Read Less

This drug is worthless and just plain doesn't work. Since I've started taking it I have severe anger issues, trouble urinating. Not to mention it started hurting to urinate and ejaculate. I also suffer from ptsd and anxiety and taking this has made me want to snap. I have thoughts of death and dying also. My doc switched me from Celexa after my legs began to feel like they were crawling. From me to you, please stay away from this drug. It makes everything worse.

I have been on Fetzima for a week now. Started with 20 mgs and now at 40. Where I will stay for the next 3 weeks. Have noticed some good side effects and some bad. I have to take Valium for the agitation. I used to be on remeron and gained a ton of weight!! Usually skinny, but that changed. Does the fetzima help with weight loss?

I have major depression and was on Prozac for years. I lost my husband of 25 years. I needed a change and the doctor put me on Fetzima. I have had dizzyness and extreme aggatation not to mention my heart rate is erratic. My depression is way worse and have had suicidal thoughts. I'm off of it and am back on my Prozac. I'm riding out side effects. Never ever will I take this drug again!!

I have suffered with depression for years. Tried many meds. First day I took Fetzima I was amazed. I felt like I had my mind back and the old me. Then I started having trouble with my bp. Went to the er two time and I was dehydrated and had a severe bladder infection. They increased my bp meds but still had problems. I went on this sites medicine list and found out I was taking two meds that were not to be taken with fetzima. I am still trying to work every thing out because this is the best I have felt in years! Not giving up yet.Read More Read Less

It works sporadically. I would get an increased dosage when the old one stopped working, but then I hit maximum dosage. It worked for a month, and now it doesn't work at all.
