I have been on many antidepressants over the past 8 years in addition to other treatments such as therapy, lifestyle changes and was even on the verge of getting ECT for my MDD/BPD. All of the treatments I tried had limited success as far a depression goes. I started using Brintellix about a month ago and it has been, by far, the best treatment I've ever used for depression. Side effects were min...

Do you take this med in morning or at bedtime? Just picked up prescription.

I've been taking the medication for four months before I gradually stopped. I had no negative side effects and the drug didn't hinder my life in any way but on the other hand it didn't benefit me at all either.

I've been on this for 2 months now and I have had headaches and stomach aches throughout the 2 months. Other people have liked how it works on me but I hate the pain I get. I get a headache when I think about taking it.

I felt very sick on this medication constantly and it honestly did not help at all with depression or anxiety for me. I switchEd to Zoloft and I feel much better.

This drug is relatively new, as i had never heard about it before when my doctor suggested it to me. i have been on Brintellix for 7 months now and i feel ALOT better. It helped me want to get a job(and getting a job), helped my focus on doing house chores. In short, it helped me live my life as i want to live it. Some nausea is to be expected, i also had some constipation. But seriously if you can ride these side effects out it works really great! My advice if you have just started or consider trying this drug is to BE PATIENT! Read More Read Less

Great medication. It is now called trintellix. I have no side effects since taking it and it has been very effective for me. Tried Prozac, Lexapro in the past. Primary Dr. didn't want to try anything newer, and referred me to a Psychiatrist. They have so much info on these newer drugs. I am very happy with this medication. It has helped me a lot.

I was skeptical when my PCP suggested Brin/Trintellix because I had such awful experiences with Vibryd and Wellbutrin. I am on the lowest dose of Trintellix (5 mg) for 3 months now and I am happy with the results. It takes some time to kick in, so give it 2 months to see results. The only side effect I have had is some weird dreams, but that is a common side effect for me when taking certain drugs. Pros: Feeling more positive about my life and my ability to handle things, a greater sense of control and an increase in the desire to be more social. I do NOT have MDD, but my stress level increased after a relative's passing, and you should never take stress lightly; unchecked stress can set off a whole lot of health issues, and I am proof of that. I plan to remain on 5 mg unless things "go dark" for me, at which point I would consider an increase in dosage. Cons: None.Read More Read Less

Switched from Viibryd and the depression has eased. I am just getting adjusted to not having an anti-anxiety component but it is tolerable. I am very tired though. Tried mornings and I am tired, taken at bedtime and I cant fall asleep. Going to try dosing at lunch.

My doc started me on 2.5mg a day. Had nausea if I took it without food. That was the major reason why I stopped my previous med. After a few days of taking this med I had blood in my stool. Doc said it's a very rare side effect and told me to continue to take it. I took it for a few more days then stopped due to the bloody stool. I will be asking for another med soon.saw no effect on mood but the again I didn't take it long.

Only just started taking for minor depression. Dr. wanted to start at 10 mg, but after some research, I decided to cut in half and take 5 mg. Has helped. More mellow, less anxious but full effect not until two weeks. Have the gastro side-effects however, I am mitigating them with (1) the herb Fennel, which calms & soothes stomach, (2) If I have stomach cramps, I take the herb Licorice - eliminates stomach cramps and (3) Ginger for nausea. As I have a strong desire to feel better, I'm going to keep on keepin' on. I want to give this a good and solid chance to work. So far, I feel better. Yes, a bit tired and very slight GI issues, but with the herbs, I'm hopeful that, after my 'adjustment' period, I will derive the benefit I'm looking for. If not, my dr. advised me there are other, similar medications out there. For now, I'll deal with the side-effects as best I can and hope for the best. Seems like this med is going to work, though.Read More Read Less

First let me just say that this medication works, and it works amazingly well. There are also WAY fewer side effects than similar drugs. But there is one glaring problem with this drug....the cost. Almost $300 per month without insurance. So while I gave it a five for efficacy, I had to only give it a three for satisfaction. It's very frustrating to find a drug that really does make me feel like myself again, yet it is basically not affordable for me.

I have been on a few different antidepressants, and this one makes me just feel like myself again. I am finding happiness in life for the first time in a long time. I no longer have racing thoughts, and I am a lot more productive at work. The only issue I have had is taking this medication on an empty stomach. I will get very nauseated. I typically take it with lunch after I've eaten.

Loved it the first week. Lots of energy. But hated the nausea. Now, it's not working. All I want to do is sleep.

Dr put me on trintellex last week.Been on it for 4 days.I feel lethargic and no mood change yet.My whole body is aching.Much like flu symptoms with slight nausea.I have been reading all the posts and overall this seems like a bad drug.I will give it a few weeks.Apparently the US version is brintellex.

I was prescribed for depression, my mood is definateley elevated, but the benefits do not outweigh the side effects. My side effects include high anxiety in which I take another medication to counter act that. Consistent nausea and I take another medication to counter act that. I feel irritated and angry at people. I have restless leg syndrome on this medicine. Dizziness affects me sometimes.
