It took a month for the hot flashes to go away but I have gained 15 lbs on this. I'm going to call the Dr because I'm getting depressed from the weight gain. Nothing fits. This med is making me hungry and very difficult to control my appetite. My hot flashes and insomnia were awful but I'll deal with that instead of this weight gain. The packaging is ridiculous. To difficult to get the capsule out...

After discussing my problem with my ob/gyn which is: Severe Chronic Sweating 24/hrs a day way past menopause, not thyroid, no hormonal problems. Just constant serious, chronic, severe sweating, from the moment I step foot out if my bed in the morning, and my I start to get the slitest bit physical, I feel my head like a volcano ready to erupt into full throttle, sweating all day long. I must be...

I had hot flashes so bad I thought I needed to go to the loony bin. It was horrific all day and worst at night. I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. My dr asked me to try Brisdelle and I tell you that within two weeks I had absolutely NO hot flashes. No side effects and this was a God send for me. I was at my wits end and I have been on other HRT's but this is the only RX that COMPLETELY worked for me. Make sure you go to their site, they have a coupon that pays up to $125.00 for your prescription each time you fill your RX even if you have insurance. Read More Read Less

I was taken off my hormone meds for hot flashes and it was recommended to try Brisdelle for the hot flashes. When I started the meds my side effect was dizziness/vertigo then it eventually when away. The hot flashes were less frequent in the beginning a few times a day

I took this for relief from frequent hot flashes. Within a week, I went from having 15-20 episodes a day to about five. I experienced no unpleasant side effects, UNTIL I decided to stop taking it after about 18 months. First I cut back to taking one pill every two days and after ten days I stopped taking it completely. I have not had a dose in six days and the vertigo is still terrible. There have been days during which it is not safe for me to drive. I am hoping that the withdrawal symptoms subside soon. If I had known how hard it would be to discontinue this med, I am not sure that I would ever have taken it.Read More Read Less

I will say this, I must have had the WORSE hot flashes ever!! I would sweat so bad it would run down my face. I started taking Brisidelle and it worked great. I did have a few side effects at first, but when I started taking it every other day my symptoms went away. They were, sleeplessness, nausea and being tired. Just note, do not go more that 3 days without taking a pill or take yourself off as it gives you vertigo really bad.

I took Brisdelle for about a year after abandoning HRT due to concerns. I had noticeably fewer hot flashes at first, but effectiveness declined or stopped altogether now. I am having horrendous discontinuation effects. This is a strong drug regardless of what is said about a "low dose". Since it is a capsule, there is no effective way to taper off. I wish I had never taken this, as the withdrawal is almost debilitating.

I started because my hot flashes were out of control at night waking up soaked. When I blow dried my hair I would have to stand by the air conditioner. I also suffered from inceeased anxiety. Fear of driving I never had before. This medication DID work to eliminate my anxiety and nervous energy. I am much calmer and even keeled. I would say the hot flashes decreased from a 10 to a 4 so much better, but not totally eliminated. The biggest side effect for me is tiredness. I fall right to sleep and stay asleep, but I have to fight through the drug haze to get up. I never feel totally rested and ready to go. I also have gained weight that concerns me greatly. I added a natural medication called Estrovera that has helped eliminate the remaining hot flashes, so maybe a cocktail is needed instead of 1 pill. As far as libido it also went from 10 to 4 but can still enjoy. I previously tried Effexor which eliminated hot flashes but all of libido as well so stopped it.Read More Read Less

brisdelle is a lifesaver..I was experiencing the most extreme hot flashes to the point where I was not able to conduct my job I would break out in sweats and have complete panic attacks in the middle of meetings. I began this medication with extreme reluctance however within five days out of been happier with the results. The hot flashes completely subsided, libido was not impacted whatsoever and my hair became very very thick and full as with menopause it seemed to thin out a little bit. The Brisdelle brought back the thickness and fullness in my hair which made me ecstatic. Highly recommend Brisdelle.Read More Read Less

I took Brisdelle for 3 weeks and experienced fewer hot flashes, however, the muscle stiffness, pain and fatigue are not worth it. Within 2days of starting it I began experiencing sore and stiff muscles. It steadily got worse, now to the point I am stiff when I sit for 20 minutes. I cannot risk it getting any worse. I am getting off it today! Not worth it.

Update- after a few months on this medication I stopped taking it, so far so good as the hot flashes and night sweats have not returned. I stopped taking Brisdelle because I couldn't stand the weight gain, headaches, and I hated that it killed my libido. There ARE side effects. If I have to start it again, I will b/c it does offer some relief. But for me- after a while the side effects weren't worth it. I hope I can stay off this medication. For what it's worth- I rarely take prescription medication unless there is simply no other option. I'd rather try herbs again than go on Brisdelle.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Brisdelle for 8 months. My hot flashes reduced by maybe 10 %. The severity by about the same. As I felt the expense was not worth the small amount of gain, I decided to stop taking it. My health care professional said I would not need to taper off but after checking online I decided I should. It's been 5 weeks and my symptoms of withdrawal are pretty severe. Terrible vertigo and dizziness. A bit of nausea. Hard drug to come off of.

I started July 27. The hot flashes and night sweats went away in the first day. The first 8 days kept me sleepy, so I used the package to number every other night as a night to take a pill. Seems to work. The pill seems to hold about 42 hours. I also noticed an abondance of sugar items will cause the symptoms to come back sooner. For the urine coloration I drink with a full 8 oz of water. Better to have to use the bathroom than to be hot. For the libido, it takes more effort and better foreplay, but you can and must get there. I also found that exercise helps too. In fact when I don't feel like exercising, I just walk/run in place during the advertising. It's now October 31, I'm still taking 1 pill every other day with plenty of water. I'll post again in December. Oh yeah, I don't take any other medications, however I do take multivitamins, b12,D,biotin,etc, Read More Read Less

This is Paxil rebranded. I would not take an anti-depressant without the approval of a psychiatrist. My psychiatrist thought it was worth a try and it would not interact with the Wellbutrin I was already taking. I have received no benefit from the drug and, in spite of it being prescribed by my psychiatrist, upon hearing that I was getting no benefit, my obgyn told me to discontinue it. Luckily I remembered that my psychiatrist told me not to discontinue it suddenly. I am in the process of tapering off of it but, even so, have uncomfortable side effects. If I had done what my obgyn said I would have experienced even more discomfort. This drug cannot be discontinued easily and you need to know this before you begin to take it. Read More Read Less

Low dose doesn't mean zero side effects! First of all, packaging is expensive and wasteful. Red dye in capsule triggered migraines, so I take 30mg generic Paxil and quarter the pill to get 7.5mg. After 10 months, zero libido and inability to orgasm. Am trying to wean off the drug, but am dizzy, anxious and having horrible vivid dreams. Was mildly effective with hot flashes, but am working with bioidentical hormones now. I can't recommend due to side effects and price for brand name and wasteful packaging.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Brisdelle for 60 days with no relief of hot flashes or intensity of the hot flashes. I was really hoping this would work. The only thing I got from it was headaches and nausea. I hope it works for others

I had been experiencing hot flashes and night sweats that woke me up 6-8 times minimum per night; and I had to shower every morning just to stop shivering enough to hold a cup of coffee. And I spent many moments with my head in the freezer trying to get relief. I tried several Chinese herbal remedies from an acupuncturist and unfortunately they didn't work. I am usually responsive to natural remedies so this left me trying to power through, but after 8 months of very little real sleep I was desperate. Brisdel kicked in and stopped the night sweats about 3 weeks in. That was a month ago and so far, so good. I hope it continues. I have gained a few pounds which I'm not at all happy about, but I'd rather that than lose quality sleep. I have always exercised daily; and have just been increasing the duration to help stop the weight gain. I wish this medication helped everyone long-term; we need it.Read More Read Less

Medication worked well for three months. Then night sweats and heat flashes returned just as frequently as they did prior to its usage. I stopped taking brisdelle after 5 months and had trouble with withdraw symptoms. I had what seemed to feel like brain zaps off and on for about a month after I stopped using it! Hope it works better for other ladies!

Okay maybe it is too soon for me to comment. However, I have been taking this for my Hot Flashes for week in a half now and still no improvement. As a matter of fact, yesterday I had my first ever panic attack and another one today...since I have been on this medicine. I have never had panic attacks before, and after reading that this is one of the side affects I am pretty sure that is what I am having. It scared me and it was not a good feeling. I rather suffer the sever hot flashes than deal with panic attacks! I am seriously thinking about not taking this anymore, since most of the reviews states the affect does not last long, expensive, and to many side affects. Have anyone else experienced panic attacks? Have anyone else found anything better? Just curious. We need help! Hot Flashes is disrupting my life!Read More Read Less
