Here is an honest review: minastrin is chewable, it doesn't taste that bad, most people here are overreacting. It tastes like one of those dot candies that come on paper, but if said candies had gotten old and kind of gnarly. Not the worst, not the best. I had been on loestrin 24 fe for 7 years. It was very disheartening to find that they would be changing the birth control that I had beco...

I gave this BC a poor rating because I have not started on the pack yet. I am switching over from Lo Loestrin Fe. The only problem I had on Loestrin was break through bleeding and thats it. The dr. told me the dose was to low for me since I wasn't getting my period until the middle of the pack, etc. I read the reviews on my new BC (Minastrin) and I'm worried, but people reading these reviews that ...

I've been taking it for about a month because I was having trouble with the high estrogen content in another birth control. So far so good. My only concern is that I haven't had my period yet and I just finished the pack. If it doesn't start up soon, I'm going to be concerned. Other than that, I love that it's chewable! So much easier to use and I think it has a minty flavor. I have had no cramping or spotting and I don't get nauseated with this one.

Horrible!! Was on Loestrogin 24 for 6 yrs had to switch to this one cuz Loestrogin was discontinued. At first good now I'm breaking out bloated, moody, bleeding 2 wks now. Cramps. Tired all the time. It's the worst. I also was told it's exactly the same as Loestrogin 24. And why do I have to chew it??? It taste nasty. AFTER reading the reviews I'm stopping the pill today. I'm done. Won't ever recommend it to any women. BRING BACK LOESTROGIN 24!!!!!

I was on Loestren for over 8 years and it was a wonder drug. I had no problems, light periods, my acne was under control and no weight gain. I have been on Minastrin 24fe for a month and have gained 10 lbs. I am a tiny girl so this change out of nowhere can only be blamed on the pill. I feel sad and moody and my acne is out of control. I am stopping the pill at the end of the cycle in 7 days and hope I can get my life back. No birth control is worth all this nonsense. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT THE SAME PILL.Read More Read Less

This is all THE WORST birth control I've ever taken. I took Loestrin 24 FE for approx. 8 years before the planned pregnancy of my daughter. Eight weeks postpartum my pharmacy enlightened me that Loestrin had been discontinued and that Minastrin was exactly the same. I stopped taking it after only 13 days. I became severely depressed, no sex drive, tearful, anxious, tired, bloated like crazy! This is not the same drug! My husband is so glad to have his wife back. Feeling 100% like myself again after 4 days off of Minastrin.Read More Read Less

I loved Loestrin 24 Fe it worked well with me and my body and it had positive effects on my body. I was switched to Minastrin and was told it was the exact same. I've gained weight after taking the pill, started getting acne (what?), PAINFUL period cramps, and extreme bloating. It has increased my headaches and spotting has occurred. Not a fan of this, I am switching to the NuvaRing next month. Also it tastes bitter/sweet and I feel like it all gets stuck in your teeth because it is chewable, you cannot swallow it.Read More Read Less

Without advise to me, manufacturer discontinued Loestrin 24 FE. They suggested minastrin 24 FE. I have had a sick stomach, mood swings downward, hot flashes and body aches have returned.

After taking that awful lo loestrin for 7 months and having either 2 periods a month or having an 11 day period for the entire time I was on it I decided to switch to this minastrin pill. I started my 2nd week today and so far everything is great. no cramping, or bleeding yet. I have no acne. I have been a lil emotional lately but other than that everything seems like its going good. I hope it continues.

Like everyone else, I was switched to this chewable alternative to Loestrin FE because my pharmicist said my pill was discontinued but this was EXACTLY the same just chewable. I have been taking it for almost 3 months now. My period was out of wack almost immediately, I completely missed it for a month, I started breaking out again which was finally under control after jumping from multiples pills to Loestrin, and I can't seem to get a control of my moods. I feel depressed and can cry over the smallest things. I also feel like I am bloated and put on weight even though I Crossfit 5-6 days a week. Completely disappointed and dreading switching pills for the 11,00000 time. BRING BACK LOESTRIN.Read More Read Less

Minastrin 24 looks almost identical to Loestrin 24. It is extremely easy to take (i.e. swallow) this pill and the packaging is also practically identical to Loestrin's. However, my issues with Minastrin 24 are due to the moodiness and anxiety it caused me to have. I couldn't sleep at night because my anxiety was so awful and I was incredibly moody. I seldom have issues with either of these things, so it was quite obvious that something was wrong. I stopped taking the Minastrin 24 after a week and am now searching for a replacement. I was so happy with Loestrin 24 and am very bummed with how this has turned out. Don't promise me a medicine is exactly the same when it obviously is not -- having the same dose does not mean the same bioavailability! Seriously disappointed.Read More Read Less

When my doctor switched me to this i spotted for 2 weeks. she told me it was normal and on the start of my second month it seemed fine until 7 days later and my period is back again with vengeance and painful cramps! im honestly pissed, especially now that i know that it is the drug and not me, seeing that the other women on here are also going through it! what a shame, i hope i can find something that worked just as well as loestrin because i took that for 6 years and it was amazing! i guess you never know you have something great until it is taken away from you!Read More Read Less

I had problem for years severe cramps, breakthrough bleeding and extreme moodiness. My ob-gyn was extremely frustrated also. Loestrin fe 24 was such a godsend. It eased all of my symptoms I had for 12 years. Now I am taking the miastrin 24 fe after being assured by my pharmacist it is the same pill as the loestrin 24fe only chewable. I have been on approximately 25 different birth controls in the last 12 years and minastrin 24 fe is by far the worst. I am bloated all of the time, breakthrough bleeding, tired and moody all of the time. On top of that I have a yeast infection which I have never had. My ob-gyn and I are both at our wits end. I am highly considering a hysterectomy because I do not know what else to do. Please bring back the loestrin 24fe!Read More Read Less

I have been using this as a replacement from Loestrin 24 fe. I cramp and bleed every time after I take the pill. I'm moody all the time, tired and sluggish (and I'm very in shape-work out 4/5 times a week) I'm breaking out. I hate this pill do bad. Please any recommendations???

I have been on this dug for one night and I feel very anxious and nervous. This morning I was having trouble breathing and feel very out of my head. I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for several years and pissed that they have taken it off the market. I am starting to get very discouraged because this is the second birth control that has caused me to have panic attacks. Unfortunately, I cannot come off of this drug until my doctor finds me something else. Who decided that it was a good idea to make it chewable? Seriously…..HATE THIS DRUG!!!!! Read More Read Less

After four years on Loestrin 24 Fe, I was forced to switch to this medication when the company switched. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal, being the "bioequivalent" - a term never used lightly in my pharmacy school - but I was unfortunately wrong. About a week in I started getting migranes every other day. After 5, this went away, but my acne exploded. I have never had so many little pimples in my life - my forehead was completely covered - on top of a several larger ones on my nose and chin. I also started getting constantly nauseated, and it would only go away if I were to eat something, and have been very moody. (Also, chewing a birth control pill? Unless you use your front teeth, it just gets stuck in your molars since it's so tiny. I tried switching to swallowing instead to ebb the nausea, it was ineffective.) My period was also later and heavier than normal. When I started my second pack, my aunt expressed concern that I looked like I had gained a lot of weight around my stomach very quickly, reminding her of her friend who had found out she had cancer. I felt bloated anyway, but hearing it hurt. I tried to wait out the side effects to see if they would fade out, but a week into the second pack, the nausea turned to vomiting around 20 hours after my previous doses. I got ahold of my doctor as soon as possible and have switched to Microgestin 1/20 Fe. I've been on it less than a week, the bloating has gone down (my aunt was relieved, and so am I), I don't feel so moody, the nausea is GONE, the acne is starting to clear up, and overall things are looking a lot better. I'm hoping the lingering weight gained will come off as I return to exercising since I don't feel sick constantly anymore.Read More Read Less

I am so thankful I have found this site. I have been on Minastrin now for about two weeks. Like others, I was on Loestrin and it worked great, no problems. Since I have been on Minastrin, I have been breaking out with acne like crazy, retaining water badly, bloated and "heavy" feeling most of the time. Very glad to read others are having similar symptoms. Will definitely ask my doctor for something else.

I have been using Loestrin 24 FE for about 4 years. After finding out from my pharmacy that it's no longer being made and they filled my prescription for this, I thought ok it must be the same because they can't fill it for a different drug if it's not the same in a formulary sense. After taking this for a month I noticed that I started getting back my old painfully cramps and constant pressure on my uterus like I use to have (one of the reasons I began taking birth control). Unfortunately, skinny jeans don't lie, I also gained about 5-10lbs. I am going to begin my journey once again to find a birth control that works. Read More Read Less

I was on Loestrin 24 fe for three years. I had no problems at all. I went to go pick up my bc from the pharmacy and the pharmacist told me that Loestrin has been discontinued and that minastrin is being used in its place. I have been on minastrin for 2 DAYS and I have noticed that I have been feeling super depressed and I cry for no reason. I didn't take minastrin today and I feel a lot better. Minastrin sucks.

I had been on Loestrin 24 Fe for 4 years and loved it. When my pharmacist told me Loestrin was discontinued and that I'd be given Minastrin, I accepted because she said it was the exact same formula. However, IT IS NOT -- Within a week, I had more acne than I've ever had in my life (I've always had very clear skin aside from a pimple or 2 during my period). I also gained 5-10 pounds, which is inexplicable because I'm on a strict gluten-free diet and I eat the same meals every day. In addition, I felt sluggish and depressed. Just switched to BeYaz and hoping for better results. All in all, avoid Minastrin at all costs; It is nothing like Loestrin. Read More Read Less

I am 38 years old, and I do NOT want to chew my birth control pill! Who's crazy idea was that? They discontinued the Loestrin that I loved, and now I am searching for a TRUE bioequivalent drug because Ministran is NOT it. I am on day 12 of the pill pack with a full blown period w/cramping. I have reported my issues to Warner Chilcott (the manufacter), and they admitted that they have received a lot of negative feedback, but that this was all done for "business" reasons.
