Used Chateal for 6 months. Became extremely depressed and moody. Crying a lot. Angry and screaming a lot. Would just stare off into space feeling broken hearted sometimes. Not enjoying things like I used to. Stopped taking it and felt like myself again within days. The depression and the fights almost broke up my boyfriend and I!!! When will there be birth control options for men!!?!?!?!??...

So, I was kinda iffy about taking birth control to begin with, but Planned Parenthood put me on this brand and within a month I was a different person. I was pissed off all the time, crying for no reason (literally no reason) and I didn't really have bad acne before, but a month and a half in my acne got really bad. there was one point on this pill where i was crying so hard and laughing at myself...

I have always had mental side effects with birth controls. I was afraid to try BC again, but did because I really didn't want to get pregnant. I have had little to no mental side effects (just a little emotional on the last week of pills). I also got a bonus of my debilitating cramps being knocked down to slightly annoying. I highly suggest this pill.

I have taken this birth control for 6 months to help my painful heavy, long periods, and horomonal mood swings that I had developed since entering my 20's. It has changed my periods from a chaostrophic event to something that maybe lasts two days and is hardly noticeable. This birth control has changed my life.

No side effects or issues except hair shedding! I've tried many different bcp in the past and never had hair thinning. Switching to a new one.

As far as its intended purpose (birth control) it seems to be working but the side effects have been a problem for me. I was on trinessa for 2 years with no problems but switched due to insurance / provider issues. I've only been taking chateal for 1.5 months but I've already noticed that my moods are out of my control. I get very angry very quickly, I cry for no good reason and these are unusual experiences for me. I'm usually very level headed and easy going but this past month I have yelled at my kids, vented to friends & co-workers and cried over ridiculous things. I will be switching because I need to have better control over my emotions.Read More Read Less

I've been using chanteal for 2months now. I use to take a different birth control but got switched to chanteal since the other one didn't help with my cramps. Now I have little to no cramps and my flow has lessened and my days are shorter the only things I have to complain about is acne and I don't really have mood swings it's just instead of being sad or getting upset I get angry.

I have been taking this birth control for 6 months now. After taking it i had no real issues & never got pregnant but i did get a lump in my breast that doubled in size within months. i got it checked out & they said it was nothing to worry about. In the last few months my mood swings have been crazy and i'm thinking about trying a new birth control.

I have been on Chateal for almost 2 months now. I set a daily timer on my phone to remind me to take it at the same time everyday, so I've been pretty regular about taking it at the exact same time (or within the hour) everyday. My biggest complaint is my severe mood swings and my sudden breakouts of acne all over my chin and mouth area. I used to get cystic acne, but went on accutane years ago until it all cleared up. Now with this birth control the cystic acne is back and it is the WORST and most painful acne you can get. Will definitely be switching off this pill as soon as possible. Read More Read Less

I have been taking chateal for about 6 months now and have had no problem having one period every three months. Occasional spotting only if I miss a pill or two. I don't remember to take it everyday (oops) but I haven't gotten pregnant. The last two weeks I've been moody and breaking out but I think that could be stress or 3 months without a period. Who knows starting green pills next week! Oh and no weight gain either

I started out on reclipsen but then planned parenthood switched me to chateal. I have using it for about 8 months now and so far it has worked well. My period is always the same day every 4th week and they are much lighter.

Everything has been going great for me with the pill..I have never been on birth control before. I noticed I was more emotional for the first few days... but it all balanced out... but I would say after the first 3 weeks on the pack - I skipped the green ones because I didn't want to get my period. and starting the 2nd pack is when the spotting started.... I have been spotting for 23-24 days now.. I am on my 3rd pack (month) and planned parenthood said they want me to have a period at least 1x over the course of the 3 month supply of the pills- which I am dreading as I have been spotting forever it makes me feel annoyed while it is not that much its throughout the day and I hate the feeling as I am sure we all do of knowing you are leaking or bleeding... so i try liners to protect my clothes but its still annoying having that feeling... so I have been using tampons every day to stop this...they say its normal for the first few months...but its effecting my sex life a little when I have this and my boyfriend thinks I am on my period or it limits oral sex because well blood taste/ or visual... I so can't wait for it to stop... not looking forward to this stupid period. which I am sure I will have to double up on protection even more than normal for the first week afterward again to prevent pregnancy...wishing I could just skip it all together. I have HERPES and if you do to, this might make you have out breaks which is not very pleasing! I have not had an outbreak in years but as soon as I got on birth control (i was on lutera as well) I got an outbreak, right after the other too! Very painful and it makes me wonder if I wanna sacrifice so much for this. The pill itself works well, but the outbreaks are making me get off this stuff. =/

I am on my third week and I am happy with this pill. I haven't gained weight and my skin hasnt changed. No random bleeding through the month. Or emotional breakdowns. I think everyone is different but It works for me.

I was on Reclipsen and moved and started going to Planned Parenthood to get my birth control quicker and one month they switched me and gave me Chateal. I was told this is the same thing and let me just say THIS IS NOT THE SAME. This bc made me have severe migraine headaches that would not go away no matter what medicine I took. The migraines would come every month 3 to 1 days before my period started. They were so unbearable that I would have to lay in the dark completely still and not move my head in any direction. Not to mention I gained 30 pounds. So after 6 months I let them know that I would not take this anymore and to please give me Reclipsen again. Instead they gave me Apri and everything has gotten back to normal. No more migraineRead More Read Less

Well, I had to switch to this due to my insurance being cut and that birth control did well for me.This Chateal pills I got gave me some bad headaches, and some bad cramps. I've also started birth control in the first place because of irregular periods and terrible cramps, but this pill isn't helping me all that much when it comes to the cramps like my old pills did. Also, which I guess I haven't noticed, but my co-worker said I have changed and been extra moody the past couple months being on this and now I am seeing reviews of women having this issue. Coincidence or no? I haven't gained a bunch of weight or anything though. I think I rather pay cash for my old birth control than having Chateal given to me without me paying a dime. I am going to see if Planned Parenthood has something than these, but if not, I think I may need to suck it up, muster up cash, and get my old birth control back. These pills suck.Read More Read Less

I love this pill! I had side effects on higher dose pills and my practitioner put me on this one. No side effects for me and easy to use. I like the low price as well.

I am 19 and I have been taking this birth control for about a month and a half now. Got the birth control from planned parenthood and is my first time being on birth control. Not knowing much about birth control but already know this brand is HORRIBLE!!!!!! Everyone is different so I don't know exactly which brand works for me, but I have had very bad headaches/migraines, pain in the left eye, extremely bad mood swings, change in eye vision, short of breath/chest, weakness, bad anxiety and sometimes confusion. Im a completely different person than I was before I took this medication. i am a very health young adult and i have never felt like I had any problems until I took this medication. Definitely changing birth control ASAP!!!Read More Read Less

I used Chateal for a year, before switching to an IUD because I'm terrible at remembering to take pills. I never had any problems with it -- I didn't have any good or bad side effects, i.e. I didn't gain weight or have mood swings (well, at least, any worse than normal PMS grumpiness), but I also still had acne and my periods didn't change. All in all, I really liked it, and am a little confused by everyone saying that it's the worst. But, you know, everyone reacts to things differently.

Bad experience overall! Symptoms were as followed: *Bloated from the start *Ugly gasses (burping) after taking daily pill *Hadaches *Cramping - Daily! *Discharge *Lost interest in having intimacy Suggestion: I would think about it twice before trying this brand.
