I started taking this medication almost year ago for endometriosis. In the beginning it was awful, I had the side effects. From bloating to weight gain and my moods were all over the place. I kept taking it as it's my last option to prevent more surgeries and I'm glad I did. After a few months the side effects went away and my moods are back to normal. I know you read some bad reviews but if you c...

My doctor gave me this to stop my heavy bleeding as my blood count was way down. Since taking it (since early-2008), I have turned into an old man; my skin and hair have become thin, greasy scalp and shrinking breasts. Yuck. Now my doctor says I have fibroids on my uterus and wants me to have a hysterectomy. I wish I could have my periods back and just take iron pills. If I stop taking the pi...

I have tried many different pills through out the years, this by far has been THE WORSE. I started taking these because I was considering the implant, my Dr. told me to try the pills for a few months (as they are the same type/level of hormones as the implant) and see if they worked for me. For the first month I had really intense/severe migraines that would put me down for days on end. Along with this my boobs got HUGE, which wouldn't have been a horrible thing if they hadn't also been tender to the point that wearing a loose fitting shirt still hurt. My acne almost immediately worsened, I felt like I was 13 and just going through puberty again. By the second month I was having such severe moods swings that my boyfriend and I for the first time in our relationship were really struggling to make things work,I would go from being intensely angry or anxious, to crying in 2.5 seconds. I have never been an insecure or jealous person, but since starting these pills, OMG I don't even know who I am. In addition to becoming bipolar because of these pills, I bled almost constantly for a month and a half, I had to start wearing pads on a daily basis because I didn't know when I might start bleeding. Oh, and did I mention the yeast infections, and weight gain?? Within the last month things have somewhat leveled out a bit, but I'm still going to switch to a different pill, staying on these isn't worth the risk of one of these symptoms rearing its ugly little head again. I'm a firm believer that no one pill is going to have the same effect on every person who takes it, and its really a matter of finding a pill that somewhat agrees with and compliments your normal hormonal patterns. But, I have not talked to a single person who has tried these pills, or had the implant, that didn't at least experience the insane mood swings and headaches. ... But on the plus side, I am not pregnant, completely bat sh*t crazy, but not pregnant! lolRead More Read Less

This medicine was prescribed to me by my ob/gyn for pelvic pain caused possibly by Endometriosis. I experienced acne, extreme nervousness/shakiness and insomnia after only 3 days of taking this drug. I imimmediately stopped taking it on the fourth day and flushed it down the toilet!

I started taking this for severe menstrual cramps. My Gyno said to give it at LEAST 3mos. My hormones kicked into overdrive. My boyfriend thought I was "wacky". My breasts were EXTREMELY tender and they felt like they would burst. On my 4th month, I got my period and it lasted 3wks. It didn't seem to make much difference in my cramping either. So I quit taking this pill and have not had my period since....it's been almost 2mos.

I started taking this birth control when I started having sex, and I got it at Planned Parenthood. The doctor put me on this one because I get headaches on a regular basis. However, this has made my headaches worse, my periods longer and twice a month, my acne much worse, and I get very terrible mood swings on my period. I do not recommend this product to anyone and I am definitely not satisfied.

I started taking this medication for fibroids in 2009 to help offset side effects of bone loss from lupron. I had headaches as a side effect that often would be severe and my husband calls them "crazy pills" because he says since I started taking them I'm not myself. I stopped taking them when I stopped receiving the lupron treatments. The medication did not work as I had to have a myomectomy anyways. At my postop two days ago, my doctor told me to start taking norethindrone again (without lupron) to try to eliminate the small fibroids they couldn't remove during the myomectomy. Day one of taking it again, i took with a bagel at breakfast and avoided sunlight as directed. About an hour later had the worst all-over headache I've ever had and throwing up anything I took in all day (Gatorade and saltines, plus the breakfast bagel). Even if I had nothing on my stomach, I was dry heaving. I couldn't sleep it off as I was restless from it. I'm afraid to take it again today. I'm only on 5 mg. might try taking half a pill at night instead of in the morning. Read More Read Less

I'm a 39 year old overweight virgin and since I'm not having regular sex nor have I had any children in my life so far, I needed some hormones to protect my ovaries from cancer and harmful diseases that can happen to it from "non-use". So I started taking this pill and my periods went from 4 days to 1 day to no days and my dr said that not having a period for 6 months is okay, but you should have one twice a year to reduce your uterine lining, which this pill automatically does. (Where does it go though?) The only side effect I've experienced is greasy hair and tiredness, but greasy hair is "in" these days (per fashion experts late 2011 predicting for 2012) and my tiredness could come from my anemia and lack of B12.Read More Read Less

I have severe migraines and take medication for them. Women with severe migraines are NEVER supposed to take an estrogen birth control as it raises the stroke rates significantly. I love this medication. I have stopped having a period all together and do not have any pms symptoms. It is easy to take and has been quite effective as my only contraceptive for 8 months.

I've been taking pills for birth control, unfortunately don't seem to need it since I've lost my drive. Was unable to take other types of b.c. pills. Right now, not sure if my flow is super light or if I've missed two months. Tests have shown negative on possible outcomes, then again it's been too long to be pregnancy. Luckily the significant other is patient with me. I think I might try another method, since this birth control is working "too well" or is not necessary without any need for it.

For once I have a birth control that does not make me sick! I was on loestrin 24 for a day and was throwing up the next day, all day mind you. This medicine has been the best thing I have even been given. After only a week of being on it, I noticed a HUGE difference! My periods are only about a day or so with very light bleeding. Whereas before taking it I would clot so bad I seriously couldn't leave my house. This medicine has saved me from so much pain!

I'm over 65 with multiple uterine fibroids which causes heavy bleeding with huge clots. This matter affects my quality of life-can't leave home while bleeding so profusely. Been taking Norethindrone for 9 months and don't see any improvement. Been researching side-effects and seem to be suffering from one of the "rare" ones-hair loss. Although a process of aging, I have gone from thick, luxurious hair to thick, greasy scalp which could require daily shampooing. Doctor wants me to have total laproscopic hysterectomy, but I'm reluctant...and afraid. Always had irregular and heavy periods, but as a senior citizen, this is just unbearable.Read More Read Less

I am on this drug to re-gain my periods back after not having a period for almost 2 years. My doctor thinks I have PCOS. (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) I am to take 2 pills a day for 10 days. After I am done with that cycle I should start getting periods. I have 2 more days left. Hopefully it works.

took for post menapausal bleeding. was omitted to hopital back in Aug 2009 for moderate size PE also had small blood clot in leg. I did have surgery 10 days prior and every precaution was taken by the hospital to prevent blod clots. Being the blood clot in my lung was of moderate size, I believe but sure, it was caused from this medicine. My surgeon told me to stop taking immeditaly. The PE was very painful and I had to get needles in my stomach.

Just started medication 1 week ago and immediately felt less pain in my uterus area. I noticed a huge difference in my mornings, less headaches and dragging. Have not went thru a period yet, but will rate it again afterwards. I was thrilled to find some relief without pain pills, because I do not like taking pain medication for its harmful side effects.

I am taking Norethindrone for a cyst on my right ovary. I was told it would stop my menstrual cycles. First month it did. Now I am spotting and sever pain. I have read that that is side affects. My doctor says it is normal. I am stopping taking the medicine and seeking a second opinion. Thanks Becky.
