I started taking this medication almost year ago for endometriosis. In the beginning it was awful, I had the side effects. From bloating to weight gain and my moods were all over the place. I kept taking it as it's my last option to prevent more surgeries and I'm glad I did. After a few months the side effects went away and my moods are back to normal. I know you read some bad reviews but if you c...

My doctor gave me this to stop my heavy bleeding as my blood count was way down. Since taking it (since early-2008), I have turned into an old man; my skin and hair have become thin, greasy scalp and shrinking breasts. Yuck. Now my doctor says I have fibroids on my uterus and wants me to have a hysterectomy. I wish I could have my periods back and just take iron pills. If I stop taking the pi...

So I just recently had to switch from estrogen pill to the Mylan northedrone .35mg and honestly it’s been so much better I still get bloated but overall I feel brand new, but my only problem is I haven’t had my period at all I’ve only been on it for a month but I use to have regular periods now I don’t have one? Please help if you can.

I'm 21 years old. I was originally on Levlen ED for the past 5 years and switched to Norimin in the past year. I was depressed, anxious, moody, and volatile when I was on Levlen. The pros were that I had massive boobs thanks to Levlen, but the mental issues which came with it became glaringly detrimental to my well-being. My doctor recommended I try Norimin to gain my sense of self again and so I did. Fast forward 7 months and I am still depressed but no longer an anxiety-ridden, moody, and turbulent b-i-t-c-h. It's safe to say that Norimin is healthy for one's well-being. However, a con of Norimin is that it has completely deflated my boobs, and I've gone down a couple of cup sizes. I'd love to find a pill that doesn't completely derail my mental state but also provides me with great cleavage. Read More Read Less

I started Mylan Norethindrone 0.35 in late Oct 2022 after a 13 year hiatus from birth control. The 1st week was great, I had no side effects at all. Then week 2 started and I bled EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. between Nov 2022 thru Mar 2023 when I finally stopped taking it - 5 MONTHS STRAIGHT. They say it's just your body adjusting and can take 3-6 months. But to actually bleed every single day for FIVE months? And it's not like it was just light spotting. It was a period twice a month and then light bleeding every single day in between. The bloating was also constant, as was the acne that I had never had before in my entire life, I even broke out on my chest, back, shoulders. Also, I steadily weighed 130 lbs before I started the pill as I do personal training 3-4x week and eat clean. When I stopped taking the pill, my weight was up to 145 lbs. The culprit? This pill gave me INSANE sugar cravings. Totally my fault for caving to the cravings, but I mention it because the cravings were really strong and very frequent. Oh when I got my next period after stopping this pill, I had the worst cramps I've ever experienced, I was so much pain I couldn't even stand up straight and felt nauseous. Final note - it was super annoying trying to remember to take it at the same exact time every day (you HAVE to take it at the same exact time every day. And when I say exact - I mean exact, otherwise you just bleed more. Also if greater than 3 hours you have to use a backup method of BC because the effectiveness is significantly reduced past that time period). I typically managed by setting an alarm on my phone, but it really sucked when I traveled from the West coast to the East coast for vacation and had to deal with the 3 hour time difference for taking my pill in the morning. I started this birth control back in December so I have been on it for I believe 4 months now. I haven’t taken birth control since high school so about 10 years and I was in for an awakening with this. I kept track of how I was feeling and symptoms every day. I have had horrible mood swings, completing feel like I “lost” myself. I’ve gained weight, my skin is clear and I am spotting or bleeding damn near every day and I’m used to a “regular” period before getting on this. My boyfriend even voiced his concerns as he noticed all the physical and mental changes I have gone through and mentally it has taken a toll on our relationship. I think I’m going to stop taking it bc I can’t take it anymore! If anyone else is going through this, know you are not alone. Read More Read Less

It was bad experience for me. Not everyone will experience in the same way. It was very wicky and evil. I had cramps that came and went. Some were less and other time more with camps. 2 days after I finished, I became sick with major pains of camps that felt like nonstop labor. It so bad I almost had to call 911. The pain lessens after 4 hours and the next 24 hour I had blood clod. The doctor gave this to me because I was going on month & half nonstop period, and I am in my 50's. So yes, they were trying to stop it. It did stop, for how long, not sure or if it stops completely. So, this medicine is not for everybody. Would I do it all over again? No. Do your research. Ask questions in what to expect and such. Read More Read Less

Bad experience taking Norethindrone. Take iron if you are anemic. Please read side effects before you use Norethindrone.

If you are unsure about taking norethindrone, read this first! First time ever taking birth control, I was pretty nervous about side effects, considering all the reviews I read here, on Reddit, other places, etc. If you are normal BMI, you have regular periods, you don't have endometriosis, PCOS, etc, This birth control is perfect for you. All these women leaving bad reviews have whacked out hormones, are overweight, just had a baby, etc, and having extra progesterone in their system sends the other hormones into overdrive causing tons of bleeding, headaches, cramps, etc. I have had no side effects, and at first I was wondering if it was actually working because I felt no change in my body whatsoever. My periods are a little lighter, I have less cramps during my period, sex drive/lubrication production hasn't changed. I'm hoping eventually my periods will go away or just be spotting once a month. And not using condoms?! Are you kidding?! Do it girl!Read More Read Less

I started this pill about 3 or 4 months ago and overall, it's hard at first and gets easier. I used to scroll this page TERRIFIED of what the pill would do to me and my body before I took it. My boobs have gotten a little bigger and they're more sensitive, sometimes I get mood swings. I occasionally spot and I still get a period, and of course that's been different. Sometimes it's lighter and sometimes it's not. Within the first month, I had a longer period, and then I got another one 2 weeks later but that was only once. I think my skin is better. My general depression isn't as bad, and my sex drive has not changed. Never nauseous, that was my greatest fear going into it. Good luck, it gets easier, and not every pill works for everyone Read More Read Less

Doctor had me start taking this due to heavy bleeding and said that was most likely due to two small fibroids. About a week after I started this med, I started heavily bleeding, all day, every day. Asked doctor if I should stop taking it, he said “no” and to continue as it often takes 90 days to adjust to a new medication. I bled heavily for the 90 days and ended up in the ER twice. The iron iv infusion just bled out of me. I decided to have a hysterectomy as it seemed like the only option to help cure my heavy periods, and also cure the anemia. I forgot to I mention that 3 weeks in to taking this pill, I promptly gained nearly 20 pounds- without changing my eating habits or exercise routine. I quit taking this med when I had my hysterectomy. I strongly discourage people who are bleeding heavily from taking this med as it made my bleeding 10 times worse. I also gained weight, have red facial flushing, hace not been myself since taking this med- it knocked my whole system out of whack. Read More Read Less

I am 38, overweight, with pain issues, horrible pmdd, I'm a hot mess lol..I was on Sprintec for 3 years and just assumed all of the downsides we're just me and my issues...My doctor abruptly switched me to this (Mylan brand) and I was about to die of panic reading these reviews. I cried...but I'm older with a family history of heart issues and smoke. I thought I'd give it a shot...OMG it was life changing!! Within 2 pills I felt like ME AGAIN!!! I can't believe how different I am. No brain fog, no cramps, no horrible periods, no hunger that feels like I was neer full but always nauseous!...I not only had no side effects really all of the ones from my previous pill went away. I was extra hungry the first week but my stomach was so messed up on Sprintec I think I was craving nutrients. My skin got a lil funky but it quickly went away. No dryness. I spotted alittle this month for about a week, annoying but it went away about 5 day in (3 days after my period ended..but again, that's the only issue I've had and I'm only on Pack 3). This stuff gave me back my life..Don't be freaked out by the reviews, everyone is different and it can't hurt to try. Worst case you switch, best case you get this..because this is an amazing feeling being able to interact with my stepkids again, to want to have sex again (Sprintec killed that), to not be anxious anymore, to not be so exhausted I can't move or clean or so anything...I hate the time I missed being afraid to try this. (This will be long) I started this birth control around this time, last year. Recently, around 2-3 months ago my periods started acting different (I never truly bled, since then it was just brown “blood” and at the end I would officially bleed”) and things started to seem off… I’ve been on; I believe 5 different birth controls since the age of 15 and I thought this low estrogen birth control would work and so did my doctor who I’ve been seeing since I started using birth control. It worked for around a year and I was very pleased with it, but then the irregular bleeding started, and as someone who suffers from extreme anxiety I thought I was pregnant and continue to have thoughts that I’m pregnant. But I’ve taken a test and no duh, it was negative. So the pill is definitely effective if you take it everyday and I’ve been with the same guy since I started this birth control. Before starting I had awful periods like having to lay on school floors it’s so bad, but birth control is always trial and error. I’m not saying this will be the same for you but to be careful. Now to the truly noticeable changes I have; I noticed peaks in hormonal changes breaking out so bad on my chin which I’ve always had but not in spurts like this, I now break out on my body. I’ve had horrible headaches, mood swings, I cried and cried the other day because I hit the peak of it. A lot of gas build up which is strange, no diet changes, same eating patterns. Random cramping, nausea and random everything. I thought I finally found the one, and so did my doctor she was getting annoyed at how much I came in to switch it up. But overall, i wouldn’t recommend it. Read More Read Less

I had some reservations starting Norethindrone based upon reviews I read prior to starting the medication - the reviews were mixed, at best. The first week or so I was on the medication, I suffered from some insomnia (which is extremely rare for me) and a rapid heartbeat. After the first week, I felt much more "balanced" and any insomnia or racing heart feeling went away. I used to suffer from acne breakouts on a regular basis, but since being on this medication I have seen a significant decrease in my breakouts and in the oiliness of my skin as a whole. Overall - since this medication has successfully prevented pregnancy without any serious side effects, I would highly recommend it. Read More Read Less

I was put on this medication after I already had a hormonal IUD placed for heavy menstrual bleeding. The bleeding became heavier over time and I started having very large clots. Found out I had developed a large fibroid and that was the reason for the increase bleeding. I’ve been taking the medication for just over 6 months. I weighed 150# when I started the medication, I now weigh 185#. I spot lightly or bleed every day and still have a period almost monthly. I have became very self conscious about my weight because I have never been overweight at 5’10”. I cannot say that I would recommend this medication. I plan to have a partial hysterectomy in 2 months and will stay on the medication until then because I became so anemic. The weight gain is the worst experience. If I hadn’t gained weight I would probably continue taking 10 mg every night and just deal with the light bleeding every day. I am 54Read More Read Less

My hair is falling out at an alarming rate, I have terrible painful acne and I’ve had migranes from hell while taking those medication. I cannot take anything with estrogen so I thought my doctor would prescribe me an appropriate medication but this is terrible I’m going to try something else.

I was on this pill for 8 months and the only good benefit to it was I didn’t get pregnant. It caused painful cystic acne, terrible mood swings, period would come twice a month, and lack in sex drive. I’ve been off of it for a week and finally feel myself again. I wouldn’t recommend this birth control.

It’s not suppose to dry you up but I noticed a couple days after taking it my baby wasn’t getting full at all. My babies mood was different. He’s a very happy baby and turned very fussy! Also affected my mood. I normally deal with things very well and after taking this medicine I just couldn’t deal with things at all. It affected my baby and me both in a negative way. I quit taking it and noticed a difference in my baby and my milk supply by the next day.

Not a bad birth control, but has plenty of side effects. I am on 35 mg for contraception and bad period cramps. My cramps have gotten so much better- minor cramping when on period now, but heavier bleeding and longer periods. My acne has also cleared up, and has lowered my blood pressure unlike other pills I have tried. Before my cycle I get a pretty bad headache and nauseous for a day or so. Spotting also occurs on and off between periods but nothing too concerning. Definitely try if you are suffering from bad cramps, but also caused me weight gain, mood swings and headaches. Im going to stay on it for a few more months to determine if it’s the best pill for me! Read More Read Less

Got switched from the regular pill to this in July, so I’ve been on it for a about four months now. I HATE this pill. I started getting pimples, my skin is more dry than it already was, my cramping has started feeling like early labor pain, pain and major cramping after sex has become an issue, and discomfort right before orgasm as well. The worst thing I’ve noticed is this month I started packing on weight. With my last pill, I was at a steady 163 (Covid weight) for years. I am not at 182!!! In a matter of just a few months. My confidence is now trash, depression and anxiety are way worse and my mood swings are the worst. I’m terrified to have another baby but I’ve decided to stop taking it and take that risk. I wouldn’t recommend birth control to anyone at this point. All but my last pill have made me miserable.Read More Read Less

I started this to help with bleeding because of fibroid. I have bled and cramped over a month on this, stopped for ten days and started up again. The cramping is the worst ever, like I'm at a 4 with labor pains. My clots are the size of golf balls! Do not take.
