I like this medication! I'm 27 years old. I was scared to try it because I read all of the bad reviews. I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen-Lo for about 4-5 yrs prior to trying Orsythia, and had no problems, but wanted to switch because of the cost. No acne, no mood swings, no period changes. I think we mostly see bad reviews because those are usually the only people who even bother to go online and ...

PLEASE READ: I started taking orsythia in July of last year after my drug store stopped carrying my previous pill Aviane. for the first month everthing seemed fine. In August i started getting involuntary muscle tremors in my left arm and my abdomin, blood pressure spikes that were 255/186 (I'm 24, weigh 105 lbs and am 5'1), dizzy spells, nausea, night sweats. I was hospitalized for 7 days and was...

I have had a horrible experience with this birth control, but any type of pill I take for birth control does me this way. I starting taking this pill back in February and I started getting afternoon headaches everyday and i still get faint ones. I also have gained weight in my face (and everywhere else). about 10 pounds, which isn't a lot, but i dont need to gain any weight. I had an IUD prior to this and i loved the fact that it was non-hormonal, but it caused pain during sex and during periods. I'm too the point where im just quitting all birth control! I guess pull n pray is the best method for my hubby and I. Read More Read Less

I started this BC about 3 months ago when my pharmacist said my insurance covered it. First month was ok, but these last two months I have started bleeding about 5 days before my first day without the pill. Now my periods are lasting 10-12 days which is not normal for my body. They are normally 4-5 days, moderate/light. I crave food especially sugar 24/7 like some crack addict. I am switching back to Lutera! I never had a problem with it.

I've been taking this for two years now. I have never experienced any bad side effects. I started out with no acne and still have no acne. I have never had mood swings. My periods are regular and I show very little PMS signs. This was the first birth control I used and I have never had a bad side effect from it. All in All this has worked very effectively for me.

After a month my hair started falling out and breaking, acne, fatigue, dizziness, never had these problems with alesse. Going to switch back asap. I know it's a generic but I've never had these side effects before, I've been on bc - the alesse for 8 years.

I am a healthy 22 year old. This was my first try with birth control. I have been on Orsythia for 2 months. I have had nearly all of the symptoms. Ive had horrible mood swings, moodiness, depression, acne, i gained 15 lbs! and my breasts got twice as big, it caused some problems for work because I model. The breasts wouldn't have been so bad but they were also extremely tender. I have had cramps and also my sex drive has decreased. I'm probably a rare case but this stuff is horrible for me.

I am 19 years old, average weight, and healthy, and I've been on Orsythia for 7 months now. This is the first form of birth control I've used, and overall, I'm very happy with my experience. I had little to no spotting when I first started, and breast tenderness for the first month. Since then, I've had no other side effects. My period has not changed at all from before (approx. 5-6 days, some minor symptoms of PMS), but my cycles have become completely predictable at 28 days. I was really nervous about starting birth control because of all the terrible side effects some people experienced, but Orsythia has been great, and I would recommend people to give it a chance! The only down side is remembering to take it on time every day.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this since I was 18 (formerly Alesse and Aviane) - I actually participated in the FDA study to get it approved. I'm 41 now, and it still provides an easy, no side effect birth control for me.

I have been taking hormonal birth control since I was 17. I am 24 now...and have no children! I think it has worked. :) I have been with the same partner during this time. I haven't experienced any horrible side effects like mood swings or increased acne (I began with no acne and still have none). BUT I have experienced decreased sex drive and eczema...I guess you could say those are pretty horrible...maybe that's why I don't have any children? HA! Just kidding :) I have heard of the non-hormonal IUD Paraguard and hope to have it replace my current BC method to see if my eczema will go away. Orsythia has worked for me just fine at preventing pregnancy and reducing cramp pains and bleeding. You have to find the hormone combination that is right for you. I am by NO MEANS a doctor but if you are having trouble with hormonal contraceptives, I would highly suggest going non-hormonal and trying paraguard. The device has been researched for over 20 years and it's still on the market... that has to mean something...Read More Read Less

I've been on Orsythia for almost a month now. Never took any birth control pill prior to this. I've never experienced nausea, depression or acne. I've had some hot flashes but they go away pretty quick. My main concern regarding this med is I've been bleeding non-stop for the past 3 weeks. I don't know if i should stop it or keep on taking it until i see my health care provider.

I've been seeing mostly negative reviews and I just wanted to say I have not had a bad experience with this pill in the slightest. It has regulated my periods without any pain during the placebo week, my skin is the clearest its ever been and I feel great. Each pill affects each woman differently and I think it is very important to keep that in mind. I would highly recommend giving this one a go. The first two months weren't the best, as my body was still getting used to the added hormones, but even then it was not as bad as some of these other reviews make it out to be. I think this is a wonderful pill for me and I don't see myself changing from it in the future. Obviously my experience isn't going to be the same as someone else's but I would still give this a big recommendation. Read More Read Less

This was my first time trying birth control due to terrible cramps/long periods. Although it did make my periods less painful and light, they lasted for two weeks! I thought it was just spotting but it lasted for 3 months. Also, I rarely got acne before but this gave me the worst acne of my life. Definitely switching.

I've been on birth control since I was 16 (now 24). I started this birth control after having issues with two other brands after LoEstrin 24 Fe (which worked well aside from occasional yeast infections) was under copyright issues a year ago. For the first four months I missed work on the second day of my period due to nausea, dizziness, light headedness, and extreme cramps. My body felt similar to when I had an ovarian cyst several years ago EVERY PERIOD for four months. The last three months I have also gotten really bad headaches during the week of my period, and I am extremely irritable--quick to infuriating rage with little provocation. I have noticed weight gain, but that could also be attributed to my decreased work outs since running a marathon six months ago. I think at this point I am done with the pill and will be switching to Paragard (copper IUD), so I no longer have to deal with taking hormones.Read More Read Less

Middle of my second month on this pill after switching from lo loestrin fe. at first, i was crying every day. but my mood swings have leveled out. It has caused water weight gain and cravings. it feels like i have a bubble in my stomach constantly from all the water retention. I work out 6 days a week and am used to a strict healthy diet but this pill has caused little binge episodes on junk food. definitely helps with the period though, and also birth control. hopefully, the weight gain doesn't continue. Honestly it's really funny that people don't understand that birth control effects every woman differently so nothing is guarenteed besides pregnancy! I am getting married in January and I needed to get started on birth control (I have never been sexually active) so I went to my university health clinic to get started on birth control. After talking with the doctor she sent me home with 3 free samples and a prescription for more, I went home and looked up reviews and was so scarred to even start it because of how bad they were. Needless to say I am almost done with my first pack and haven't felt a single side effect! It varies with everyone, you have to be open to trying it in order to know for sure.Read More Read Less

DO NOT USE THIS BIRTH CONTROL. It prevented pregnancy for the eight months i was on it. HOWEVER, every morning for the first 5 months or so I woke up nauseous. I had terrible depression and anxiety for the first few months as well. Extremely tender breasts as well. The worst part is that I would constantly get my period days before the first placebo pill. The bleeding was light (and very brown in color) and would continue for almost 2 WEEKS. I felt like it wasn't my period most of the time. I switched to Tri-Legest Fe and it works amazingly after only the first pack!!!!!!!!Read More Read Less

I have been on multiple pills throughout my 12+ years of being on the pill, and I've honestly never felt any side effects from any of them. Orsythia is no different. My only real complaint is the packaging on some of the ones I've received. You are supposed to push the pill through the back, and even my husband has had difficulty at times with pushing them through. Other than that, no complaints. I know it's generally more common for people to give bad reviews, and that's the majority of what I've read here, so I just wanted to give a positive review. I always get my period on the Tuesday or Wednesday of my placebo week, and it only lasts through Saturday at the latest. My periods are really light as well. But honestly they've never been that heavy, at least not since I've been on the pill. I can't say I remember very well what they were like before the pill!Read More Read Less

I love this pill. downside. I've gained weight. The bloating is terrible. I'm on my 3rd month, giving it some more time. I was on Minastrin Fe before and I had horrible break through bleeding. That's why I love this pill no break through. The weight gain...might be a deal breaker

I've taken Orsythia for almost 3 months and I can't take it. I gained at least 5 pounds the first month. Acne has gotten so bad, just like when I was a sophomore in high school just going through puberty. I haven't had it this bad. Now to top it off, according to my eye doctor, Orsythia has caused my dry eye. Only bright side to it is no pregnancy and some breast growth, but that might be due to the weight gain. I'm done with it.

I was only on this med for 2 weeks, but I seriously thought I was losing my mind! Horrific PMS, (which I have rarely experienced before)depression, absolute no tolerance for anything! My poor husband! The pharmacy switched me from Avianne to Orsythia and I understand how people with serious psychiatric problems must feel. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACEPTION. It made me feel horrible, suicidal, depressed, sleepless, etc. I will be paying out of pocket for the last week of another rx because the side effects were so terrible for this. Read More Read Less
