Was prescribed this during the first semester of college and Experienced Depression, anxiety, couldn't sleep, nauseas headaches and I've always had clear skin and my back chest and face broke out (not severely) but noticeably. I was very moody and did not feel myself at all. Cried all the time. I only stayed on it for about 4 months. Felt like it took 2 months to have it completely out of my syste...

I have been switched to this medication from Levora and it is exactly the same except my new packs DONT come with the reminder stickers. Why is this? I dont start my pack on Sundays and never have and unfortunately have always relied on these stickers. I really wish the company would still provide them.

Horrible experience on AltaVera. I had nosebleeds and migraines, neither of which I ever experienced before. Horrible mood swings, which is also not normal for me. I felt out of control of my emotions. I didn't gain any weight (I run regularly). Bloating, cramps, and 2-3 week regular-heavy periods every month. Never again!

I was put onto Altavera because my pharmacy did not have my normal BC pill, Portia. I could tell something was off within the first few days. I didn't feel well (nausea and tired) and was having horrible mood swings (severe depression and anger). I switched to a different pill this month (levora, I think) and everything seems to be better. Be warned about the mood swings on Altavera!

I had been taking the BC pill Levora, which I was very happy with. Unfortunately, I was told by my pharmacist that the manufacturer had discontinued making that and I was given Altavera as the replacement. I've been on this for about 3 or 4 months. My period has been irregular since starting this pill and I have been suffering from terrible night sweats. On my recent check-up with my OB/GYN, I explained these side effects and was prescribed a different pill, which I start this weekend. I have never had a problem with BC before and I hope that this new pill will be a better medication for me.Read More Read Less

Going on my 6th month with this, I am very happy with it. There was a bit of spotting in the first month, but afterwards it has been a non-issue. My menstrual cycle is on time, no bloating or weight gain like I had with Lo Loestrin Fe (the only other pill I've tried). Acne is minimal; I get a couple breakouts on my jawline, but I've always had bad acne and am taking medication for it.

switched to this from gildess (which was awful) and it has been great. cleared up my acne for the most part, aside from a few average-size pimples around my period. cramps are minimal, and periods are fairly light. no complaints!

I was a complete mess when I was on this. I switched from Sprintec because it wasn't making my periods light enough. Altavera definitely made them lighter, but I was a complete wreck the entire week of the white pills. I also gained 15 pounds. Since switching back to Sprintec I have already began to lose the weight. I was on it for about 6 months.

While unlike other BC I've tried it doesn't throw my cycle out of whack, however at 3 months in and 2 weeks into that specific pack, I started to developed severe pain in the sides of both my breast. I went to gyn and found out I had a cyst (follicular) and she decided that was the culprit. After that months period pain and cyst were completely gone, now a month later and the exact same time as last month the breast pain is back. I've never had any problems with cysts or breast pain before this pill.Read More Read Less

After four trips to the ER, and eventual admission to the hospital, this drug was toxic for me. The nausea was beyond severe. I lost 8 lbs in a month. No one could figure out what was wrong with me. It was intensely scary. Only after staying in the hospital, being tested for everything under the sun and finding nothing, did I realize that a week after stopping this pill,(due to being in the hospital) the nausea was finally gone. It also felt like Vagnitis for 6 weeks, harming my body enough to require pelvic physical therapy to get back to normal, not to mention a Cystoscopy and many, many trips to my gynecologist. This drug needs to be taken off the market. I have reported this drug to the company.Read More Read Less

I have used bc pills in the past. Ive never had acne issues. with this medication, i have had terrible acne on my back and posterior torso. I have been "spotting for approximately 2-3 weeks usually in the evening although trying to take the pill in a 2-3 hour window each day. the spotting started after missing ONE day's dose. I liked my other birth control pill Necon better.

I will be calling my doctor, because only 3 weeks and I am so bloated. My tummy is tore up this week, probably due to my period coming, but it's hurting and diarrhea after every meal, formthis entire week.I have to call my doctor. I am way too bloated. What is up with being unable to pull up the side effects? My original pill was discontinued. Bummer.

I have been on Altavera for 6 months now and have not experienced any weight gain like I have with other BC pills. These also have not altered my mood and personality like others have. The only downside I have noticed is my acne is far worse than it was before.

i was switched to this from my usual birth control Portia because the pharmacy didn't carry it anymore, even though they assure me it is the same thing I've noticed an increase in my acne, and much more spotting and cramping as far out as 1 week before i'm due to take the placebo pills. This is my 2nd month on the pill and I"m going to be switching back to Portia.

This drug was effective in the sense that my periods were predictable and I didnt get pregnant, BUT I just finished my first pack and could not finish the second. One week into the second pack, I could no longer deal with the nausea, severe migraine headaches, and broke out my skin terribly (i usually have great skin). I also gained 15 pounds with this pill. Never gained wait with Levora (Altavera was said to be the generic for Levora since Levora was no longer be made by the manufacturer. Starting Aviane soon...hope its better for my bodyRead More Read Less
