Don't be scared by all these reviews. Happy people don't write reviews lol. I have been taking this for 3 months with the biggest issue being breakthrough bleeding/spotting. It's tolerable and otherwise side effects have been OK. I gained maybe two pounds and I think it was all in my boobs.

At first, I loved this form of birth control, I was actually loosing weight. Small break through bleeding, no acne, no cramping, great libido, everything was fine for me. Well I ran out of the 5 samples I received from my doctor and I recently switched to the generic form of lo-loestrin due to insurance and costs. It's been about 4 months and I'm miserable, I hate myself, I get sad or mad about th...

I have been on lo loestrin fe for 15 days and I have experienced irritablity, mood swings and depresstion. I am normally a very happy go lucky person, this is not right. I'm calling the doctor for a new pill.

This was my first birth control experience, started when I was 21. My periods in the past have been nightmares, acne breakouts, extreme cramping to where I would just camp out by the "porcelain throne" for an entire day throwing up and taking the maximum dosage of Advil allowed, and a full 7-days of bleeding. The first 2 months I was on Loestrin I had a constant period, which was extremely disturbing, but I was told this was normal while the drug was taking effect. After 2 months I had a completely on-time and rather short 3 day period, but that is the only good thing I can say! I began having horrible mood swings, everything irritated me, I still had massive cramping and bad acne, and to top it all off, my sex-drive went away totally. I did gain weight but I'm not sure if that was from the Loestrin or from being a newlywed. After 2 years of this misery my husband couldn't stand it anymore and I finally stopped taking it. My moods are much more regular and my libido is back, but so are the long periods. =( Never going back to this pill again!Read More Read Less

So i have just started using Lo for ONLY one week and I've already experience "sever" side effects such as; All day headaches, wanting to vomit all the time, and also a lot of irregular bleeding after actual period being over. Not a happy camper, I've taken quite a few different birth control before and its never been as bad as this one in particular. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I took this bc for a week and a half. The first week was fine. It made my stomach really flat but the second week I came on my period with full force. Blood was squirting out like crazy and I was in excruciating pain from cramping. I was in so much pain I went to the ER. I had these small white clots coming out. They told me I had a UTI, which I know was caused by the BC. They worse pain ever.

Okay so I am on about my third week of taking this pill and its absolutely annoying the hell out of me. I started it the day I got my period and my period lasted forever. I usually have periods to last about 4-5 days. It last nine and I have been spotting like nobody's business. I cant live a normal day becasue Im nervous Im going to start bleeding through my clothes. I know that is a side effect but I haven't went one day since my period without spotting. This pill is doing nuthing but making me mess up perfectly good underwear. I will think I am in the clear and then I will be in the middle of class and notice that I'm bleeding AGAIN. Im completely annoyed. This pill is supposed to make my life easier and as a college student on the go, I don't have time to constantly check my underwear and be afraid to stand up in class. I will continue the pill but if nothing has changed, Im getting off immediatleyRead More Read Less

I was prescribed Lo Loestrin Fe for the treatment of endometriosis, adenomyosis and as birth control. After a month on the pill, my side effects have been VERY sore breasts and trouble sleeping/night sweats. I did experience some nausea, but it went away the first two weeks. My biggest issue though, was at the end of the month/packet (last four pills) when I got horrible cramps before and during a somewhat heavy period (although my period was shorter). Of course, with endometriosis, I always would get some cramping without the pill, but these new cramps were paralyzing. I have not been on oral contraception for eight years, and I remember it takes awhile to get used to the medication. I am going to give this pill one more month and switch to a different pill if the side effects don't start subsiding, and especially if the horrible cramps return.Read More Read Less

Taken Lo-Loestrin FE for a full 2 months and am switching to Cryselle (generic for Lo-Ovral). While on it I was very nervous, easily irritated, migranes everyday, crazy spotting, couldn't sleep through the night and my heart felt like it was on crack speed racing. I'm usually a very mellow/happy person... I wanted to do a full 3 months review to hopefully see progress but had to switch! Also I was taking Nuvaring before this and that made me sleepy and vaginal discharge was like an understatement!! Hopefully Cryselle will do the trick. Read More Read Less

When I started taking this birth control I experienced head aches and pain in my legs that made me worry. After about the third week I experienced chest pains and severe mood swings. I have not had a perion while on this pill but that is the only upside to it.

I have been very satisfied with this birth control. I haven't experienced any emotional issues, acne or weight gain/loss. The only issue I have had no period. I have been taking this for about 3-4 months and no spotting or anything in that time. Obviously its nice to not have a period, but its also nerve-wracking at the same time.

I am 36 and have never taken the pill because I feel that it is not natural to take hormones. After having 2 kids my periods became very heavy and painful. I also struggled with PMS for about 10-12 days each month. I found myself taking lot of OTC pain relievers to help myself through each month.I finally gave in and tried Lo Loestrine Fe on a suggestion from my GYN. I have just started my 4th pack. I had no idea that I was making myself suffer each month. I feel so much better and I can carry out daily functions easier than before. After 3 packs, I finally had a period and it lasted 1 and a half days, very light and not painful...didn't even take an Aleve. This BC pill works for me and I'm glad that I did not have to try several types of pill before I found one that works with me. The best thing about this pill is that it does not make me crazy and I have not gained any weight. Actually, because my energy level has increased, I have lost weight. Read More Read Less

After 4 months i am finally adjusted to this pill. It being my first form of birth control I really didnt know what to expect other than what i had read online. The first month was hell (see previous reviews) The third month got better sucked having two periods a month and days apart but im on the end of my 4th pack and no middle of the month period!!! If you have the patience to deal with the adjusting of your hormones this is a good pill to be on.

I have been on LoLoestrin FE for three months. My first month was fine. The second month I broke out with terrible acne, bad mood swings and crying spells, and my menstrual cycle stayed on for 12 days straight. My third month has been a little better except for the vaginal dryness. When I spoke to my gynecologist, he said that vaginal dryness and yeast infections are slightly common because the pill is secreted through the urine (didn't know that at first). Still, the cramps and heavy bleeding are gone. Read More Read Less

This is my 3rd month taking Loestrin. The first month, I was extremely emotional and depressed, had severe headaches, and acne broke out all over my face and neck. During month two, I experienced an 11 day menstrual cycle but without cramps and blood clotting. I hope that my periods don't continue to last 11 days. The scne has cleared up though.

I was prescribed BCP as a form to decrease ovarian cysts. I had taken Sprintec before my ObGyn switched me to Lo Loestrin Fe. Was very happy with Sprintec, light periods every month. No side effects. I'm on my second month on Lo Loestrin, i have gained 2 lbs., have stomach pains, nausea vaginal infection and missed my last period. right now i have spotting while in the middle of the pill pack. I will stop taking it soon.

I was originally on Loestrin and experienced no periods for the first 3 months and then very light spotting for one day during my 'period.' Then I heard about Lo Loestrin and thought the lower dose would be safer in the long run so asked my gyn to switch me. I've been on it now for 5 and a half months and have not bled at all. Not one drop. Though that's lovely in some ways, it's psychologically unsettling because practically every month, I worry about being pregnant. And I make sure to take the pill at the same time every day (give or take 30 minutes). I'm not sure how common it is to not bleed at all but it would have been nice if my doctor had mentioned that as a possibility. Before going on any birth control pill, I had regular periods every 28 days that were relatively light compared to others but that still required the use of a light pad for a few days. I don't miss bleeding per se but I miss the lack of related stress. Read More Read Less

I've been on the pill 5 months, i've had ups and downs but i think its about time that the pill should be pretty well in my system so I will share what I am going through now. I have nausea/sickness/moodiness very bad a week prior to my period and i never start on the last pills, it ends up making me go to a whole new pill pack almost 35'ish days between each period. besides the pre-menstrual side effects I have no other side effects.

I started this pill in august and am now on my third pack. I have completely stopped getting my periods and my acne is so bad I've been avoiding mirrors. However, I do like the low dosage of hormones. I almost never get emotional on this pill and my sex drive is not as low as with other contraceptives. But I will be switching bc as soon as possible.
