I crushed my ankle a year ago and 2 surgeries (hardware in and then infection and hardware out) and infection treated with 6 weeks IV Antibiotics, I have struggled to live a normal life and find pain relief. I work full time as an Engineer and taking regular Dilaudid only gave me short periods of relief. I wouldn't drive within 5 or 6 hours of taking my Dilaudid and I took it two times a day. I wo...

I was prescribed this drug in lieu of percocet by a new pain management dr. for chronic back pain. My prior doctor retired. The pain is acute in the AM. There was a very negligible reduction of 24/7 pain with no replief what so ever for acute AM pain. I discontinued use of this expensive drug after one week since I was afraid of interaction with percocet. Dr. got mad over my doing so and am actively looking for a good pain management doctor.

I have spinal stenosis C2-T5 and almost daily headaches.Took Ultram 50's x2 daily and it made the pain liveble and didn't make me "loopy" I took one dose of this stuff and my intestines shut down for 8 days. had to have surgery to remove the impaction. Never again I told the doc when hewanted to put me back on it. When he said no to putting me back on the Ultram. I said "fine, I'll be looking for a new doctor." Now still on the Ultram still in pain some but I'll deal with it.He still asks at every refill, and I keep asking if he wants to stay my doc.Be proactive in your own health care,if the doc you are with won't help you, find another that will. You can fire your doctor. Very BAD drug use at your own RISK!Read More Read Less

I have had 2 Brain Tumors removed in the last 2 years. I have constant pain in my head. I have been taking Exalgo ER 16mg. The only thing that is a positive factor is the once a day or treatment

I have chronic pain and fibromyalgia for over 20 yrs. Darvocet actual helped me but they took this mild drug off the market. I just realized I am actual in more joint pain now on exalgo. I still take dilaudid which helps, short term. And exalgo is ridiculously expensive.

Lumbar and thoracic problems for 20 years but much worse in the last 6. Multiple surgeries including failed fusion, ALIF, RFL, facet et. al. treatments and injections. Was on morphine sulfate ER 30 MG 3 X a day, oycodon APAP 10/325 4 X a day, and muscle relaxer 3 X a day. New pain mgmt doc 3 weeks ago and he changed my meds (they didn't work) to Exalgo 12 MG 2 pills ea morning & oxycodone 15MG(IR) without the acetaminophen 4 X a day and kept the muscle relaxer too. Started to notice a change after about 1 week. The Exalgo seems to be making a positive difference. I've also had 2 trials of the neurostimulator at the lumbar and thoracic regions and am now in the insurance approval process and hope to have the permanent stimulator before the end of the year. Will have wires to the lumbar and thoracic regions which is almost unheard of treatment. My PM doc is fabulous and my family doc referred me to him after I had to move back to the Washington, DC area. His name is Dr. Nameer Haider. I highly recommend him as he has been a God send. Hopefully, with the Exalgo and the NS I can have a life with tolerable pain. I've continued to work but it has been absolutely brutal and I look forward to having a life with a little less pain. If you are in the Washington, DC area or willing to travel to the area, I recommend seeing Dr. Haider and maybe he can help you too.Read More Read Less

I am 27 years old with fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease and also 3 bulging discs which compress 3 major nerves in my spine..I know tell me about it! I also have a 5 yr old daughter who is very hyperactive. I've been under pain management since March 2007 after I had my child and been on 3 10/325 percocets and 120 mg of methadone a day since. My meds were lost in the mail a few weeks ago and my dr refused to write me more so needless to say I've been goin through withdrawal ever since. My dr decided to try me on 8mg of exalgo until ots time to get my refills next month and this is the 2nd say of treatment and all I can say is thank you exalgo!! I don't kno if its where I haven't had anything in weeks or it just works that good but I got a full night s sleep last night and have played with my daughter all day long. But I have one question? Is it ok to take dilauded, percocet and methadone all at once? Im only 27 and id hate for my liver to fail at 30..Read More Read Less

I would take it when I got to work and then by about 2pm it would wear off. I wouldn't take another dose until returning home from work and errands at 7pm or so. I was miserable. I had a horrible pain management doctor as well who told me that this isn't what was happening, the dilaudid wasn't wearing off. Anyhow, long story short, I got a new pain doc who put me on Exalgo. I am on the 12mg daily dose. This is the best pain relief I have had in a year. I am amazed at how well it is working and at the fact I can even work 12 hour days now with little breakthrough pain. I love the fact that I take the pills at night and they don't make me foggy for work. I get constant pain relief without all the short term side effects of the regular dilaudid dose I was taking in the morning. I don't get the drowsiness or spaciness either. I love this medication. If you have been taking Dilaudid and it does/did work well for you, I think this drug will as well. I have no side effects on this drug other than a little gassiness I think from the way the pill dissolves. It has all but completely gone away. I sleep like a baby and I used to wake up several times a night to try to get my leg in a comfortable position. I don't have any weird dreams described by some. I don't have extreme sweating or shakes, nausea, or spaciness. I have been taking Exalgo for 1 week. I will do another review after a month.Read More Read Less

I had great success with 150 Duragesic patches but my pain dr passed away. New pain dr offered me 75 Duragesic patch. Did not work after taking the other for five years. They decided to try Exalgo! Not only is it even more expensive it does not work well at all. All I want is my old pain regimen back! I still take 15 mg Oxycodone for breakthrough pain but it's all breakthrough!! Having surgery 25 in a few weeks! Don't recommend Exalgo !

24/7 my pain is rarely below a 5 on a 10 scale. This med dropped it one level at best. However, the pain is excruciating in the early AM. My dr. wants me taking nothing else but this. I am discontinuig since only 10 mg. percocet for pain and 10 mg valium for muscle spasms and ice packs can get me going in the AM. My contract (signed) with him is that I will take no other pain meds. This med is totally useless for that severe early AM pain. One major side effect is almost no bladder control when asleep. A week on this med is one week to long.Read More Read Less

This medicine is Satan in a bottle. I was taken off Fentanyl & switched to this and NOT ONLY is my pain worse, I am in **SEVERE** withdrawal. I feel like a drug addict or "junkie." I shake, throw up, have diarrhea, and can't hold down food. This medicine is an absolute JOKE. I can not believe that the FDA approved this garbage. Dialaudid ER *sounds* very strong, but let it be known that Lortab/Lorcet is very similar.

I have chronic back pain due to intradural spinal tumor nerve damage and arthritis. I can barely walk because the pain is horrible. I cant bend over, twist my body, raise my arms, lift anything, turn my head to the sides. This medicine doesnt do anything but knock me out. I take it at night of course. Ive told the doctor he gave me topomax, celebrex (which makes me itch like crazy) and savella. I feel like Im being used for a medicine cabinet instead of trying to be helped. I dont know what to do. This doctor is suppose to be one of the top pain specialist in our area but Im beginning to wonder. Read More Read Less

O'my, I am in more pain than ever in my 3 yrs of chronic back pain. I've had two fusions(didn't take) So, I asked my dr for something that was only taken every 24 hrs, because by the time morning got here, I couldn't hardly move., much less walk. So I was put on Exalgo 16mg & omg,5 days ago. I'm feeling like I have raw pain, I'm taking percocet as my break-thru med & it is saving my life, I'm waiting on the dr to call me to see if I can double it, because there is no way I can drive 52 miles to my dr today. Any advice people? I would not recommend this drug to anyone. It is terrible to be off of your meds, waiting for a new one to work, when it doesn't work at all. good luck to those of you that it does help.Read More Read Less

Exalgo is a very subtle pain reliever. I have taken it for 3 months now. The first month, I was so excited. I felt better and it was effective after the first week. Seemed to take a wk to build up. Now at 3 months, I still have pain and have overtaken it plus my breakthru Lortab 10's. I have had 6 spine surgeries in the last 3 years and left with overal bone and muscle pain, degenerative everything, and currently non-fusion at C6/7. Worse pain in neck, shoulders, and blades.

I have severe back pain due to an injury. I have tried many pain relievers with little to no results. The Dr. put me on this twice daily with 10mg oxycodone 3X daily for breakthrough pain. I don't want to brag too soon for fear of jinxing myself . This medication so far has been a life saver for me. I have energy with no foggy side affects that other medication causes. I hope this medication continues to help me. It is quite expensive but my work comp does pay for it as of now.

I've tried what seems like everything to live a normal life... you name it, I've probably tried it. Exalgo has changed my life, literally. I used to have so much pain it was difficult to walk. Now I'm actually able to get around and have tentatively even started doing light things that I haven't done in years; things like going for an evening stroll with my family and doing light housework. Those things would have had me laid up in bed for hours if not days. I take it once per day; its so much better than remembering a long set schedule of when to take what. Also, I used to get acid reflux and constipation constantly, however all of that went away about a week or two after starting this. I feel like a new person. Instead of waking up throwing up and not eating, I'm getting up (yes its still difficult) and doing what normal people do. I feel so lucky and overjoyed at what I've been given. Its like a new lease on life! I can't believe how great it feels to be able to manage now. Its like being given a miracle.Read More Read Less

It has given me most of the relief that FENTANYL use to, except I now have a much "clearer" mind and brain function.
