This is the first month for this drug. Before I was able to purchase generic colchicine. I do NOT understand why a generic drug has become a brand name -- especially as it is a very old drug used for gout for centuries. Can anyone shed light?

Was prescribe this by my Rheumatologist after suffering with gout flare ups for 10 yrs. I had flare ups in multiple joints and this medication has eliminated them in 3 days at 1 tab per day. No side effects to date.

The old generic was quickly effective and inexpensive with no side effects for me; I do not find colcrys as effective and suffer because of it; that the generic was eliminated should be challenged.

Yesterday afternoon, I took four tablets (over a period of time (as instructed by doctor). Very early this morning, I began severe diarrhea which has continued to present (mid morning). Don't know what to expect when I try to eat something. Medicatioin did not seem to help the problem for which it was prescribed.

The medication did reduce the pain of gout, but the side effects have included diarrhea and sore stomach, and I had an episode of terrible pains in my hips and calves while out walking today ( which I suspect may have been brought on by the medication). So I think I'm giving up on this drug.

Initially pain from gout decreased. After about 2 months, I stopped taking it and all symptoms of gout disappeared. This is a very expensive drug- $165 for 30 days. I don't intend to ever take it again,

This medication works great causing my pain to go away completely in 3 days. However, it requires a prescription and costs over $100 for 30 very tiny pills I only take this for 3 days and then stop taking it cause I have heard that it has bad side effects.

I had my first ever Gout attach, they treated me with Colcrys and it has been 10days. I have had excessive Diarrhea and the pain and swelling are still there. Feeling like this med is worthless.

After taking this medicine for 20 days I noticed that the skin on my forehead was peeling constantly. I first attributed this to dry skin and cold weather. I was also feeling flush and as if I had fever. My skin turned a bright pink color and was very sensitive. I stopped taking colcrys and it took 2 days for my skin to resume its normal color. I consider a very dangerous medication.

except for the $325/month price I like it. I am now getting colchicine tabs through a relative in Mexico for $3/month over the counter---go figure...less than 1% of the cost of US pills.
