Savella works great. But the first week of side effects while titrating are a bit uncomfortable. After that, it's WONDERFUL for energy, pain & brain fog, although it takes a couple of months to see a dramatic improvement. IGNORE any reviews from people who stopped taking it after the first week, because they most likely didn't take it properly & just aren't giving it a real chance to work. Savel...

So far the side effects have been frightening. I feel aggressive and short tempered. I’ve been on this for 10 days. I plan to consult with my physician as to whether this should be temporary or if I should stop now.

Have taken 6.5 wks & am up to 200 mg/day. Savella replaced cymbalta. Pain levels WORSE. insomnia, face flush, sweating, dry mouth & dry eyes. Mouth so dry I got horrible mouth ulcer. Eyes miserable. Neuro wants me to stay on for 3 mos to give it a chance to work & side effects to subside. They are getting worse. I will give it 1 more week. Do not think I can deal with side effects with absolutely no pain relief. Glad it is helping a few people. I'm 67 & have had fibromyalgia 40 yrs so I have tried almost everything. Love Savella for my Fibromyalgia pain! But had to stop after a year from developing heart palpitations and SEVERE sweating. Wish I could find something that works as well as Savella without the side effects.

I have fibromyalgia. My brain was always hazy and I could sleep 14 hrs and still felt dead tired. I noticed within a couple weeks of taking it that I could remember things and felt good when I woke up after 6 hrs of sleep. It has been a great drug for me.

I have been on Savella for 5 years after trying everything else with NO pain relief. I was diagnosed nearly 20 years ago and have functioned at a high level. I dealt with dry eyes, shogren's and depression at first but within a month I felt like a new person. I still have excess sweating and have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, but I can't imagine my life without Savella. I am beginning to wonder, however, the efficacy of this medication over an extended period. My fibro has spread to my trunk and extremities and my pain level is higher. I am debating whether to go from 200 mg. to 250 mg. during the winter. I, too, have quickly found out how much worse my fibro can be if I miss a dose.Read More Read Less

Stared taking in FEB 2010 for fibromyalgia. Didn't think it would do anything but I was wrong. I found out how much it did work when I forgot to renew.

the side affects of sweating became unbearable, then my normal jolly and upbeat personality took a nosedive to the depths of +#$$ - Fibromyalgia is not something for the weak of spirit and this drug's side affects just added to it.

Savella started working right away to treat my Fibromyalgia. At first had some mild side effects but once I was on the full dose my Dr prescribed I started having severe headaches and developed tingle in my arms and legs as well as other side effects. In the end the side effects were worse than the pain from the fibromyalgia. Was on this medications about 6 weeks before all the side effects really kicked in hard.

I have had excessive sweating for the last year while on this medication. Had the same problem with Cymbalta. BP has went up and heart rate has been running in the 120's and 130's. On a beta blocker and still having trouble with HR. Got off Savella and the sweating has stopped but after being off the medication 2 days the pain is increasing.

I have been on sevalla only 6 days. So far no relief from FM pain. I was on Cymbalta for 6 months stopped working after 3 months. Even though I felt immediately better on Cymbalta (like the very next day) it did not last. I started getting FM pain back, crying, and not able to sleep again. So dr put me on savella. The FM pain now can get to a 7 out of 10 I am crying most of the time (from pain) a little dizzy and bad headache and as always when I sleep I feel like all I do is dream, also the excessive sweating but hey I was doing that before any meds. But after reading some of the other reviews I am more determine to keep on going and see if things get better. I was taking the pills in am around 6:00am with breakfast and again at supper 5-7pm. After reading reviews, appears I need to be taking last dose before 2 pm. So I will start that tomorrow and try to take them same time every day and see if I feel any better and maybe get some sleep? Does anybody else experience this dream thing with FM I dont think it is the drug I have had bad sleep last couple of years then 6 months ago was diagnosised with the FM. Hope it kicks in soon my family is about to send me packing.Read More Read Less

I have been on every med there is for fibro, and stenois of the spine. It has helped me way more then any other med that the docs tried. My blood pressure does rise but I take 50 mg .of losartan potassium with the savella 25mg .I do this 2xs daily and blood pressure is much better. the night sweats are not horrible like they were when I first started savella I have been on this combo for about 2 years now and it is a god send from before with other meds. I also do 3xs day hydrocodone 325 for pain and zopidem for sleep I still have pain 24/7 but at least now I don't feel like killing my self daily as I did with all the other drugs they have tried. side effects do get better after you are on this.savella for a while give it a chance 6 months or more don't just stop taking savella cause it can give you heartattack and even stoke if stopped suddenly .you have to wean off it.Well to all the people who suffer with fibro I feel your pain and I hope for me and everyone else who suffers with this horrible pain I hope they come up with a cure for this terrible auto immune diease.. Good luck all Read More Read Less

I am into my second month of taking Savella. I have been on Lyrica, Celebrex, Cymbalta, and some other medications for diabetic nerve pain and Fibro. Nothing worked. Lyrica was making me gain huge weight, which I cannot do as I am already overweight, and Cymbalta was just horrific, I was so ill with it. This medication has given me my life back. Last fall I was so sick and in such pain I cold not work, I was not able to go to the upstairs in my home without severe difficulty, and my two young children were not having a mother. I was actually becoming suicidal, and depressed. My 8 year old was helping me up and down stairs, and I spent most of the time on the couch. Preparing meals for my family was a huge chore, and made me cry in pain. My specialist prescribed this, even though it is not available in Canada. I travel to the US to purchase this, and get a special permit from Health Canada to bring it into Canada. It has helped tremendously! I do not have any negative side effects except constipation, which I am dealing with by adding more fibre to my diet. It has truly given me my life back. I can go up and down the stairs, yesterday I went for a short walk...something I have not been able to do in years! I know that not everything works for everyone but this has helped me! I have halved the Lyrica, and will continue to lower it, and I am off Cymbalta completely. I am able to cook for my family again, entertain a little, and am looking forward to even more improvement, as time progreses. Some say to give it 3 months, and I haven't reached 3 months yet. If it wasn't inappropriate, I would KISS my new specialist, for prescribing this medication. It is worth the hassle and expense to travel to get this. I am thankful every day.Read More Read Less

Prescribed after 60mg of Cymbalta wasn't relieving the pain. Worked up to 100 mg a day of Savella and it was horrible. Sleepless, sweaty nights and no relief in pain. Couldn't be in crowds and messed with my emotions terribly. Would NEVER take it again!
