Had this for a CT Scan. The tech said It may burn ( it didn't for me) and i will feel a sensation of warmth from my head to my groin and that it may feel like I empty my bladder or soiled myself. She was not kidding once that went in I was warm from my ears and felt it work its way down and the warmth down below had me laughing myself. Afterwards I was fine little headache but fine.

I had a CT scan of the chest and abdomen two days ago. I was given both the oral and the IV. I liked that the oral is like water. It was a lot more palatable than other oral contrasts that I have been given. The IV infusion stung quite a bit but that didn't last long. I was able to go to work after the scan. My stomach has been a little upset the last couple of days and I have a headache but that's about it.

When the contrast went in both hands had a very hot burning sensation. Directly after the CT Scan my throat burnt up and swelled, my tongue swelled, the right side of my face went numb, double vision and light-headed, voice changed, hearing impaired, metallic taste in mouth, tingling sensation on left side of face, pain in left side of chest around collarbone area.and diarrhea next morning. My blood pressure elevated to 185 over 120. Given antihistamine from Dr and observed for 30mins then drove home. 115mls given through intravenous, one time use. Read More Read Less

I had Omnipaque 300 (100 ml) for a neck CT scan. Once it was injected, I felt what I was told that I would while lying in the scanner: warmth, metallic taste in mouth, feeling pressures like I needed to urinate so at that point, I wasn’t alarmed. When I stood up when the scan was complete, I had no feeling in my left side. It was too heavy, and I awkwardly collapsed unable to step or carry my purse. The radiologists got me lying back on the table and were contemplating calling the Rapid Response team. One wanted to and one was in a rush. I managed to regain my composure but still felt “off”. While driving home, I began having trouble seeing and experiencing a tunnel vision. By the time I got home, my ears were ringing so loudly, and the warm zings and urination feeling continued still. My pupils were very dilated, and I was dizzy. At this point, I was very scared, and was being driven back to the ER. I can’t believe they honestly let me leave. I began having trouble breathing and was wheezing through what felt like a straw in my throat. We stopped at our mutual aid station but they weren’t in, or I would have chosen to being transported at this point. The area above my right eye/ forehead began to feel like it was burning deep inside my brain, and I could smell an overwhelming putrid sulfur smell. This part was alarming and painful. The ER nurse took me back and immediately gave me a shot and iv meds without even seeing the doctor yet. I also remember having had abdominal pain and tachycardia once the terror was over, and I could breathe. My voice was very hoarse. I got itchy later that night and had to continue Benadryl for a few days after as well. Now, I am to get a heart catherization next week and am terrified at the thought of having to have this medication again. Premedication is the plan, but I am still very leery of this medication and hoped that I would never need it in my lifetime, ever again. Read More Read Less

I did experience a rush of heat in my throat and bladder area for a few seconds and then it went away. After my CT SCAN, I did break our with a few hives on my neck that were itchy and a bit of redness on my arms. No other reactions and I feel fine.

Had the drug as part of a dpi am nerve block procedure. The pain when the dye hit the nerve root was horrendous. The extreme pain went straight down my leg. Apparently this was a good sign. The side effects have been flushing headache and diarrhoea.

Had a rush of heat when this was injected which seemed to concentrate in my hands and feet. Then it was gone. No after effects at all.
