I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

First six days so far BP down from 130/90 to 110/80, HR down 68 to 58 on 5 mg Bystolic.funny chest pain and arm pain after 12 hours each day with hr 68 and mild tightness in throat aslo was seen with Toprol xl. the chest pain and arm tightness only last few seconds and I am aware of it only if I am awake. mild insomia first 2 nights. foot pain for a few minutes after 12 hours. my EKG and Echo are still normal. I was on Cartia xt 180mg for 1 yr then my bp increased. Doc said try this pill, after reading all this comments I am noticed the younger folks like me age 35-45 had less negative complaints. If this drop cause problems I think cartia xt 240mg might do the job with a little bit of prune juice for constipation.Read More Read Less

I have been on bystolic for 3 weeks and noticed immediate response with regular readings 115/70. Af first I really noticed fatigue, but have adjusted to that. Now I notice heartburn that I have never had before, and some achiness in my upper back and shoulders. Would like to reduce the dose, will ask at my next appt.

Since taking bystolic I'm tired all the time,so I take it at night before I go to bed. It makes it easier. I still need a nap in the Afternoon. It did lower my bp though.

I have now been on bystolic for 4 months. It did bring my bp down to 120/80, but the side effects are making me consider another alternative. I have gained weight (about 15 pounds), have knee and hip joint pain that won't allow me to sleep without advil, I am somewhat depressed, have had 2 bouts of vertigo, and ringing in my ears. All symptoms come and go or are subtle so I did not link it to the drug until recently. I am so disappointed... I need to take something for High BP (runs in my family) but everything I've tried has had such debilitating side effects from extreme fatigue to now this! if you experience these effects, it is not nothing or in your head, it is the drug!Read More Read Less

Doctor started me on 5MG of Bystolic after developing bad dry cough on Ramapril. Bp has been lowered to 120/80 from 140/92. Resting pulse from 90 to 70. However I have these coughing fits once or twice a day which lead to vomiting.I am also drinking alcohol which may be exacerbating it.Any thoughts??

Started taking this medication in April 2008 for irregular heartbeat and high blood pressure. I have noticed a 10 lb weight gain, lack of energy and am having discomfort and swelling in my joints. My joints in my shoulders hurt so bad at night I have trouble sleeping. I am not sure if the joint pain is associated or not. Has anyone else had this type of side effect while on this med?

Replaced coreg with bystolic because coreg kept my resting heart rate around 60 and would not allow it to speed up in first 15-30 seconds after going from resting position. One dose of this grug put my heart rate at 50 and it would not speed up under virtually any condition. Totally out of breath. Dr stopped it after one does.

this is an expensive drug even with ins. my husband was atenolol,we thought it was great, he was on it well over 3 yrs. this drug however, makes him really irratable, tired all the time and it is chronic.i think drs. put new meds on their patients so they can reap the benefits of trips and cash for endoring/subscribing new meds to their patients. tired of him being a guenie pig.

I feel discomfort in my chest when I swallow food or drink. I feel like I have indigestion all the time. I am constently tired. Rashes appeared on the nape of my neck and arms. Severe headaches in the evening time in the the first week. Gained weight also (not liking that). All this and I've only been on the medication two weeks.

I have experienced BP 96/54 & Pulse of 39. I have been very weak, dizzy & my arms & legs shake. This has gradually come on & gotten worse the past few days. Today, I can't walk without holding on to something due to light headiness & weakness.

My blood pressure at its highest was 200/112. I've been on Bystolic 10mg for about 2 months. My last blood pressure reading was 120/65. The first week or so on the med. I felt some mild dizziness, some mild diarreha. This decreased with time. I do notice that when I go to my exercise class, I sometimes feel faint and have to stop what I'm doing. I believe this is due to the Bystolic as I've never had that experience before. I'd like to be weaned off of this eventually and try alternatives to medication. Bystolic is expensive and I worry about the weight gain that others claim to have experience. I'm already over weight and don't need something else to deter me from losing weight!Read More Read Less
