I was diagnosed of low testosterone as a result of high prolactin in my blood. I use to have embarrassing sex with my wife until I started this treatment. Just about weeks I started taking it, my wife is the one running away from me now. I've used it for about a year now and have no regrets about it. I think the only side effect I experienced and still experiencing is a rapid and high increase in ...

I started taking Cabergoline for a pituitary adenoma (prolactinoma). Great medicine, the tumor reduced in size very quickly (effectiveness), no side effects at all, and I've been very happy with it. Prior to Cabergoline, I was taking bromocriptine. That medicine was giving me nausea, hot flashes, and I would get fatigued very easy and with very little physical activity. After getting switched to Cabergoline, I felt very good, no side effects, and had a very significant effect on the tumor very quickly.Read More Read Less

I have been diagnosed with PCOS and high prolactin levels in my blood. However, after an MRI, there was no sign of pituitary gland but my gynecologist advised me that we should try lowering the levels as it may have a link with the fact that I have very irregular periods. I have been prescribed to take one 0.5 dose twice a week. so far I am on my second tablet and I feel really really dizzy and have been sleeping excessively !!!!No other side effects to report so far....

Was switched to this drug after being on bromocriptine for a little over a year. After about a month of taking this med started experiencing shortness of breath, heart palpitations, chronic fatigue, slept all the time, hard time concentrating, and poor memory retention. Went off it after 3 and 1/2 months. Shortness of breath and heart palpitations went away within a few days of stopping the medication

MRI discovered Pit tumor. Dr. Ask me if i had any prob. Yes, no sex drive for many years. They revealed Prolactin level was 1700mg? After hormone test. Prescribed Cabergoline .5 mg. Prolac dropped to 30mg almost immediately. I rediscovered what women were for. My penis actually grew back to where it should be, very proud of it now. My testicles are sore occasionally but it is a good sore i think they are filling back up( my feeling only) now that i actually think about sex i asked my primary for Viagra. I used 1/2 50mg tablet (expensive stuff) thought I was walking around with somebody elses erection. Damn that felt nice. Now I am looking for a woman to share my 18 year old penis with. My wife has her own sexual problems. So here I am with a new predicament, we are both 55 y.o. .Read More Read Less

After a year of TTC and no success, I went to see a fertility doc who tested my blood. Prolactin levels were at 63 then 77 a week later. Started taking Cabergoline .5 mg once a week and tested after 4 weeks. Levels went down to 50, but still over normal range. Dosage was upped to 1 mg once a week. After 3-4 weeks of this dosage, I conceived and am now 7 weeks pregnant! Success! Am now off of it bc of the pregnancy, but am so happy it worked. Side effects were worst when I first began the drug then when the dosage was upped. My best strategy was to take my once-a-week dosage on the weekends, when I had a day to be tired and a little woozy and get lost in a good book or movie. Also, drinking when I took my dosage was not a good idea! It already gave me hangover symptoms.Read More Read Less

Extremely effective drug. I've been on it for not quite a year and the the prolactinoma is nearly gone. Much, much better tolerated than bromocriptine. I don't have any the fatigue or cloudiness reported by others. However, lately I've started exercising again, which was too painful to do with the prolactinoma, and have developed a terrible case of restless leg syndrome. Which makes sense since cabergoline is a dopamine agonist and RLS is related to low dopamine levels.

I've been on the medicine for 8 years. It is the only thing that will control the prolactin levels to prevent a prolactin tumor from growing. No side effects

I was diagnosed with a prolactin microadenoma in 2007. I was pregnant in 2005 but the pregnancy was unsuccessful. Afterward I noticed that my breast milk never went away and I ignored the problem for over two years until severe headaches and increased milk production forced me to bring it up to my gyno who recommended and MRI. Low and behold there lay a tumor on my pituitary. Not sure if the tumor is a result of the pregnancy but never noticed any symptoms prior to that. (Or maybe I just didn't pay attention enough to even notice). I started out on Bromocriptine and DID NOT tolerate this well at all. It was a pill everyday and I was deployed. Increased stress didn't help either. I noticed nausea that was unbearable and even to the point I was vomiting. I had severe mood swings and headaches were just as painful. I was evacuated to Landstuhl Medical Center for periodic review and a leading Endorcinologist there recommended the better, faster and more updated Cabergoline instead. It was only twice a week so I jumped at the chance. I tolerated it very well at first. I remained on it consistently for about a year or two and my tumor seemed to decrease as well as the "let down" (milk). After a while I guess my body grew used to it. The mood swings became violent and I felt rage filed almost (which is a side effect in some studies). I just didnt feel myself so I independently stopped taking the medication. I felt myself again. Then the period stopped for about three months I was afraid and in 2010 I restarted the meds independently as well. My period returned almost immediately. Ovulation problem solved. But mood, dizziness and mental fog were still too great a price to pay. I stopped again but my levels shot up to the 700's (where they are currently). Weight gain was positive as well before and haven't been able to loose it since. I go to do an MRI soon. My thing is, I can deal with milk, but I want kids soon, A happy Medium would be nice.Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with 1.5mm Prolactinoma with blood levels of prolactin at +2500 (normal being <20) in June of 2009... 3 years ago. I started taking .75mg doses of Cabergoline twice each week. I tolerated the drug very well for 2 years... had some dry eyes, a little dizziness but not much more. In the past 6 months I have developed some lupis type symptoms. Dry eyes, headaches, on my fingers & toes I am getting white & blue patches with some red spots that have a little burning sensation... ruptured capillaries. I have some shortness of breath and some itchyness on my gums. Going to see the Endo Doc in a few weeks to see if cutting back on the dosage is wize.Read More Read Less

I've been on this medication over two years now for hyperprolactinemia. My pituitary tumor is completely gone with this medication. The only complaint I have is that I feel tired all of the time and drinking alcohol with this medication really intensifies the effect of the alcohol.

I have just begun taking Cabergoline, 1st dose of 0.25mg (1/2 tab.) this past Friday. I was diagnosed with a Macro Prolactinoma back in 2007 and have been taking Bromocriptine (Parlodel) ever since with great success; my Prolactin is normal and the tumor has shrunk to half it's original size. However, recently a new Endocrinologist I was referred to wanted me to try Cabergoline, said it was "newer, better, faster, targeted to the tumor, less side effects" etc. Made it sound like a miracle silver bullet for Pituitary Tumors. Well, since that first dose 4 days ago I have been experiencing dizziness, major nausea, extreme fatigue, acid stomach no matter what I eat, increased bathroom trips, dismal mood swings, mind fog/difficulty concentrating, shaky and sweaty (esp. at night). Basically, I feel awful! From what I read in these reviews this sounds, with a few exceptions, like everyone else's experiences to some degree or other. Personally, this is not worth it at all. Since fertility is not an issue for me there is no other reason I can see to stay on this drug when the other one I was taking was working just fine without this extreme level of side effects. I really do wish this drug had been easier to tolerate, but I guess each person reacts differently. Good luck to anyone who tries it. Read More Read Less

I started out with headaches and no sex drive. I went to the doctor and had some tests done. Winds up that my prolactin level was 600>. Had an MRI done. Found a 16mm pituitary tumor. Started taking cabergoline. 3 weeks later had another MRI. The tumor decreased significantly within weeks. As far as my sex drive is concerned, well I feel like I've hit puberty again. So far it has worked great, besides feeling dizzy sometimes.

This medication keeps that pituatary tumor from growing. Been on it for 12 yrs and only had to increase from 1 tab 2x a week to 2 tabs 2x a week. the only problem i have with it is that I can't take my Migriane medication (shots) within 24 hours of taking this medication because of the interaction it has.

I have been on this medication for about three months after being diagnosed with Prolactinoma. My levels were about 75. Within the first few months I noticed that the tenderness in my breasts subsided greatly and my periods were more regular. But now it seems that it may have plateaued? I can tell my periods/hormone levels are similar to before starting this med. Worried that the levels are getting worse or not responding to the dosage anymore

I noticed breast milk about four years ago and was informed by a doc that I had elevated prolactin levels and a tumor. I have been taking cabergonline for about 3 years off and on. I was putting on weight prior to being diagnosed. When I was taking it consistently, my prolactin levels decreased drastically and my headaches were not as bad.My tumor did decrease I have not been able to dropped the weight(just inches), although I've been working out, intensely, twice a day for about 6 months. I stopped taking the meds in Dec of 2010. My headaches have intensified. I began taking the the med again in March and my headaches still persist and are intense. I am also noticing a change in my vision. I had lasik about 2 years ago. I am not sure if it was the medication or not. I do notice the increased tiredness and mood changes. Read More Read Less
