This medication does work, but for the first month or so you have dark brown soptting between periods. Sometimes you get vaginal discomfort and nasusa and/or headache once in a while when using this medication. I think this form for birth control is good and very easy to take. The pills are pink the first 21 pills. The 7 other pills are white and contain estorgen hormones when you are not on your ...

I just started on this pill last Thursday and it's Monday. My doctor switched me because Loestrin24 was too low hormone for me and I was having 2 periods a month for the first time in my life. I used to be on .25 mcg of estrogen before Loestrin and that seemed to work well. I'm now on Balziva and it's .35 mcg of estrogen, which I hope is not too high for me. I will see. The reason I'm posting is...

My emotional mood swings have been getting worse every month. I am almost constantly depressed or experiencing anxiety. I also suffer from hormonal acne while using this, and I spot for almost a week and a half until I have a full period. YUCK! My GYN is switching me to Yaz. Also, to the person who commented about generics required by law to have the same amount of hormones, etc. They do NOT have to have the exact same amount, they only have to be within a certain percentage. Talk to your doctor about this. Read More Read Less

This has made me very emotional. I feel sick all the time and have sore breasts all the time. I would not recommend it. It almost makes you feel pregnant. And I have had 12-14 day periods.

I have been on this pill for more than six months but the past three I have spotted at various times before my period. The spotting also comes with mild mood swings which I originally got on birth control to avoid. Up until now, it has been a very positive experience since my last pill made me extremely emotional. I just want to switch to something to stop the spotting.

I used to take the brand name Ovcon-35 and then the pharmacy decides to give me the generic..balziva or however you spell it. I havent lost hair like I have read so many on this page. I really hadn't had a problem until just recently. I would say I have been on this pill 3 years maybe. I have noticed I have gained weight, no sex drive, and my period the last three months like non existent. I would have old blood with very little new blood. I thought I was pregnant the first month this happened to me because my boobs were tender and the weight gain etc. However I was not pregnant. I go to the doctor this friday im demanding a new birth control and im sticking with the brand name i dont care if its 50 dollars.Read More Read Less

I recently switched from Aviane to Balziva. It has been kinda horrible. I've gained weight, felt slight nausea, stomach bloating and cramps and moodiness. Maybe it's because my body has not adjusted to it yet since I've only been on it for about 2 weeks.

I was reading all the reviews posted here and learned that balziva is the generic of femcon which gives me more reason to not like balziva. I took femcon a few years ago and never had any problems. I am on my second month of balziva and I hate it. I was put on it because in addition to I need for contraceptive my menstrual cycles were very painful. That is the only thing I can say it does. From the day I started this pill I was experiencing the extreme nausea.I dealt with it for a few weeks but I became fed up with the constant discomfort and inability to eat so I stopped it until my next period started. I began taking it again with my new cycle and was happy to no longer experience nausea (I find taking it in the middle of eating lunch helps) but about a week and a half into the new pack I started to have irregular bleeding which I have never experienced in my life. So I went to the dr and was told it's normal and is only a problem if it continues past 3 months. Well not for nothing I have been bleeding lightly but bleeding none-the-less for a week and a half now. It's annoying that my contraception is causing me to be uncomfortable about having sex while spotting like this. I HATE THIS PILL Read More Read Less

I began using balziva a three weeks ago I'm on my fourth week. So far it has been ok for not relieving my abnormally long period right away. Still had light bleeding throughout using this pill. My dr instructed me to give my body a chance to get use to it. So ill see what happens with the next pack of pills.

The reason I'm posting is because so many people have put negative reviews about Balziva as a generic brand for Ovcon or FemCon. I justed wanted to make everyone aware that it's required by LAW that generics have the EXACT same ingredients as brand names. So, there should be no difference in the pills, only a difference in the weight of your pocket. The reason generics can be cheaper is because they had no research overhead and everything that the brand name/original producers did. It might be real emotional issues and not the generic version of a pill.Read More Read Less

I started Balziva to relieve extreme discomfort during my menstral cycles, and it proved effective in preventing my previous dizziness, heavy bleeding, and a strange hot flash I would get once during each cycle [this was so horrific I would go pale, sweat up a storm, pass out, and wake up ice cold. EVERY month.] I have been on this pill for over a year and its benefits outweigh the negatives. BUT it wasn't always like this. When I first started on this pill, I had bleeding for a month straight. In the following month or two, bleeding every two weeks. I was kind of psychotic for a day or two out of every month back then. After a few months, all these symptoms vanished for me. My period is so light that I'm not bothered when I have a period anymore. I just had it on vacation and I didn't give it a second thought. Now, the only complaint I have is the lack of sex drive, sexual arousal, etc., so eventually switching pills seems like a good idea. Read More Read Less

I swiched from femcon FE to its generic Balziva prescribed by my GYN. I never had any issues with Femcon, worked great for me, I switched to a generic thinking that it would save me some money but switching to Balziva was totally not worth it. It caused me to gain almost 7 pounds in 2 weeks, my whole body feels swollen, I have no energy and I have a terrible back pain and weakness in my legs and arms. I have never felt this kind of weakness before. I am calling my GYN back to switch back to Femcon FE. Balziva has been a horrible experience.Read More Read Less

I know most people only post reviews if they have a bad experience. I usually don't post them unless I have a good one. But this was exceptionally bad! Like the 3/1/08 poster, in the first 5 days of taking, I've been so nauseous I can't function. I just want to eat everything in sight to make my stomach feel better. I also gained about 10 pounds in water weight as soon as I started taking it. I was so bloated it looked like I was pregnant. I guess you could say the drug is effective...I mean, I'm not pregnant. But I called my dr. today and told him what I'd been experiencing and he told me to stop taking it. So se la vi, Balziva! You suck! No, but really, I owuld have stuck it out the 3 months like they usually say to had it not been for this awful constant nauseousness, from the time I wake up in the morning until I go to sleep. Every woman's body is different. This REALLY didn't agree with mine! I pretty much had every one of these side effects: Most Frequent: Abdominal Pain with Cramps, Abdominal Swelling, Acne Vulgaris, Body Fluid Retention, Breast Engorgement, Dizziness, Edema, Fatigue, General Weakness, Mastalgia, Nausea, Vomiting I've been on about 12 different pills over the past 3 years because I have constant breakthrough bleeding, which is why my dr. tried prescribing this for me after an ultrasound to make sure I didn't have any polyps causing the breakthroughs. At this point, I may just try other forms of birth control.Read More Read Less

I was originally prescribed Balziva to treat my excessively painful periods. So far, so good. I experience little to no cramping now during my periods. However, I have had other side effects others have already mentioned: bleeding in between periods, breast tenderness, some nausea...I can live with the bleeding and the tenderness, and the nausea is only mildly irritating. This is the first birth control medicine I have ever been put on, and I think it works fine, if you're willing to put up with the side effects. Most people aren't going to be, though. My doctor gave me this pill to get my system regulated. I used it for three months with mild nausau. We stopped the pill for a few months and the first day we restarted it, I vomited. Severe nausau this time. Some dizziness too. Would not recommend this pill.

I am now on my second week of my second month on this pill. So far i havent found any horrible mood swings or emotional outbursts like i have with previous b/c's, but i do experience 2 periods a month. Ive been on my 'period' for 4 days and my actual period is not supposed to start for another week and a half. this happened my first month on the pill as well. so far this is my only major side effect. If it continues after another 2 or 3 months of use, i will be switching back to yasmin.

This is the worst pill i had ever had. i was taking this pill for 3 months & i had nausea, vomitting, dizziness & depression. On top of all this there was bleeding inbetween periods which stayed for a long time. i would never recommend anyone to take this especially people having prolonged heavy periods.

I have become so withdrawn and unmotivated to do anything, which is not like me. I'm in college and have some serious bill issues, but before taking this medication I could handle the stress. I find myself constantly upset, unable to focus, and severely depressed. I spent Thanksgiving alone crying because I couldn't bring myself to leave the house. None of this is normal for me. I can't afford to pay for this stupid medication, but if I don't, I'll probably have to have another blood transfusion which costs even more. I guess this is the price you pay for being "healthy."Read More Read Less
