I have been on this birth control for over 2 years now and I love it. The worst part about it is that I get really moody the week before my cycle. As I was reading other reviews I noticed a lot of people saying that they've been on it for 5 weeks two 2 months and keep bleeding. That is normal, I had the same problem at first, I pretty much bled for two months strait so called my doctor. She said t...

I gave Jolessa 6 months of my time and I hate it. Hate. I was taking Sprintec  (orthotrycyclin lo) for about 8 years prior to that and loved it with the exception of the hormonal migraine I would get the day before starting. I switched to this first the purpose of only getting 4 periods a year, hence 4 migraines a year. Jolessa has indeed helped my headaches,  but the bad definitely outweighs th...

Very frustrated with this pill! I started taking it due to very heavy, long lasting periods and severe pms. The good: the first 4 weeks were great, no mood swings and only slight break through bleeding. I'm on week 6 now, and I've had severe bleeding with large blood clots and cramping for almost 2 weeks! Plus, I'm very puffy and bloated and have gained 5 pounds in a month. I have a healthy diet and exercise daily and nothing has changed in the past month except starting Jolessa, so I'm sure this is the cause. I started this pill because the heavy periods and mood swings were ruining my life. Instead of getting relief I'm constantly having to run to the restroom at work due to bleeding through a super plus tampon AND a pad. Great :( I've heard this phase will pass and just to hold on for a few weeks but I'm not sure I can.Read More Read Less

I have been on this birth control for a few months now. The only issue I had was the first couple of days I was on it I felt nauseas. And I had a little bit of spotting the week before I was supposed to have my first period. But not that I've been on it for a while I love it! It has worked great for me! I would definitely recommend it!

I have been taking this pill for about 3 years now. It has proven to be very effective. My first cycle on this pill was painful but after that, I only experience painful cramps the first day of each cycle. I especially like that the pill has made my cycles lighter and shorter.

The three ways Jolessa has kept me from getting pregnant, in order of importance: 1. My husband is completely turned off by the sticky brown goo oozing out of me every single day of the month (except of course when I am full out bleeding) and so is not interested in having sex. 2. I'm not really interested in having sex anymore either since starting this bc. 3. It keeps me from ovulating.

As I was reading other reviews I noticed a lot of people saying that they've been on it for 5 weeks two 2 months and keep bleeding. That is normal, I had the same problem at first, I pretty much bled for two months strait so called my doctor. She said that my body was getting used to the new birth control medicine and preparing for my new menstrual cycle because I was on a different one before. She said to finish out the first 3 pack and by the time I start the new 3 pack, there will only be spotting here and there or not at all. That is exactly what happen. I spot like once or twice every 6mos. Give it time if bleeding is your main concern and see what happens after the first 3 pack, then take it from there.Read More Read Less

I love this Birth control I have been on it for almost two years. It is good. I take it everyday. I got spotting while regulating to it,but it had gotten better. The only Problem is not having a period every month makes my cramps horrible and my bleeding really heavy, But i'd rather that than switching a lot and be unprotected.

I was on ortho tri-cyclin before I started Jolessa. My gyno just switched me to this birth control so I would have lighter and less periods. I loved it until I got to the middle of the second pack. I started spotting, and now I am still spotting and have one more pill left before starting the third pack! I have heard that this is normal and will go away, but my migraines have worsened and my sex drive is pretty much at zero right now. Also, there is always that worry (with the four periods/year) that you are pregnant, even if you take the pill regularly. Spotting doesn't necessarily mean you're not pregnant!Read More Read Less

I went on Jolessa in high school because I was getting very irregular, frequent periods -- once I was down to once every two weeks! And my PMS was terrible. Since going on Jolessa my periods have been lighter, less painful, and obviously much less frequent. I use it both b/c of my weird periods and for birth control now. Can't recommend it enough. Obv. you have to find a pill that works for YOU, though!

I've been on Jolessa since July 1st to reduce my periods bc since April, I have been having issues w ovarian cysts. I'm 36, healthy, non-smoker/drinker. However, I have been experiencing this level of sadness that I do not like; and is not me! I'm getting married on Sept 1st and my level of excitement has decreased and my level of energy has decreased. Totally opposite of me. My fiance has even noticed that my emotional state is not what it was. Also, my sex drive is about nil. That is very frustrating for both of us. and even when we do have relations, it's different than it used to be. i don't get it. I've considering weighing my options of suffering the pain of my recent periods and being in and out of the doctor's; or finishing this 3 month pack and going thru w/ ablation after the wedding. Is it safe to just stop taking the pill? or are there vitamins out there that i can take to counteract these side effects?Read More Read Less

Taking Jolessa with the intent to minimize severe period discomfort and a heavy monthly flow, so that during menstruation I can have minimal distractions, ie stay at work, think, etc. First pack: 25 days straight bleeding, day 21,22, bleeding through super tampons and pads. Day 24, bleeding out blood clots, cramping like food poisoning, extreme bloating. Discharge like a horror film. Very noticeable weight gain, probably 15lbs on the first 8 weeks of the pack. Taking a 5'-10" frame from 130 to 145, and not a frame that ever puts on weight, so it's quite abnormal. In addition, it definitely effects your mood, I'd say anger being the most present emotion, like all the time! I hate you Jolessa makers, how dare you think this is an acceptable drug for women.Read More Read Less

Actually helped alot for me. I used to have heavy periods every 2-3 weeks for 5 days with sever cramps, nausea, upset stomach and hot flashes. Now I have a moderate to light period with no nausea, stomach upsets no where near as bad and no random sweating for 5 or less days.

This is the worst birth control I've ever been on! I have endometreosis and as a result, I have terrible cramps. The doctor I go to has put me on three different pills in the last year-and-a-half. This is my third. As soon as I started the second pack, I started having discolored discharge and bleeding. I bled for almost two weeks! Also, I'm always craving things and have seen significant weight gain, even when dieting and exercising. I agree with another reviewer: this drug shouldn't be on the market. My hormones are going crazy. I've been having days where I can barely get out of bed from depressing thoughts that I know aren't logical, yet can't shake. I'd much rather have a period and be stuck in bed with cramps! Don't take this drug!Read More Read Less

I was put on birth control because of irregular but heavy periods. I was taken off Yaz and started Jolessa about two years ago. Typically things are regular and very light. Except for occasional longer than normal periods I have been satisfied with Jolessa.

This pill sucks! I've had so much bleeding and now I have blood clots coming out! I called my doc and he said stop for a week and restart, well screw that! I've had horrible cramps for weeks, I'm tired and hungry all the time. I'd rather have a montly period!

I have been taking this pill for almost 3 years now. I was diagnosed with severe ovarian cysts and every month when I would ovulate I was in severe pain, bad enough to be sent to the hospital. I was orignally on Seasonal and had alot of break thru bleeding, cramping and mood swings. My doctor switched me to the Jolessa and I have not had a problem while on it. About 6 months I had surgery and stopped the BC only to have the pain from the cysts return. This pill has been a life saver for me. Not only is it birth control but it has helped control the pain from my cysts.Read More Read Less

I have taken seasonale since I was 17 I am now 25. I've taken Jolessa (the generic) for a few years now. Recently I've been cramping all the time and having heavy bleeding for days on end. I don't feel like this is normal at all. I never had the issue before and nothing about the way I have taken it has changed. I am switching to something else.

I had very irregular, painful, heavy periods until getting on Seasonale. I switched over to this generic (Jolessa) and have not had any major issues. I occasionally have light spotting in between cycles, but it has lightened my periods SIGNIFICANTLY, eases PMS, and makes my periods very predictable.
