I have taken this drug for the past two cases of sinusitis. I kept the empty bottle to remind me of what worked before. I now have another sinus infection, three winters in a row and I will see my doctor asap to get this drug again. It worked very well for me although it did make food and water taste funny for the duration. I had some weird dreams too but only for a few days. I will gladly ta...

Prescription for 1 - 250mg tablet per day. within 3 days bronchitis is almost gone. However, sleep is almost non-existent and restlessness combined with irritability is VERY problematic. Also pain in joints and a numbness down the outside of both thighs. At other moments those numb areas are very painful. Hate to discontinue this early due to making the virus resistant to the med, but day 4 and I am considering it. Also very gassy and bloated since starting this med. Minor bowel looseness also. Not a good med, BUT effective. Read More Read Less

I had bronchitis that moved into pneumonia after I tried to avoid antibiotic use. Ended up in the E.R.. Received an I.V. dose of Levofloxacin, and was sent home with 750 mg.oral once per day Levofloxacin. Symptoms improved after 48 hours of treatment, with marked improvement after 36 hours. By the end of 7 days,I was almost back to my old self. This is amazing recovery for the moderate/severe pneumonia that almost required initial hospitalization. On a side note, an E.R. doctor chose this medication for me, because I am phobic of vomiting, and this is one of the only strong antibiotics known to not cause G.I. upset. I had no symptoms of any kind, G.I. or otherwise. Read More Read Less

I just took my first dose last night and have been much worse today. I could not sleep until 3am until I finally took some NyQuil and slept until 10:30 pm I have had a terrible headache and joint pain, worse ever, although I do have issues with neuropathy and arthritis. My legs have been in worse pain although my neuropathy pain usually just in my toes. That has been worse than normal too. Extremely disoriented and not able to function when I get out of bed. So glad I already decided to stop and have doctor change me a different antibiotic. After reading the other reviews, I am sure I would be in hospital if I continued to take even for a couple daysRead More Read Less

Most of my colds become sinus infections. Sometimes Azithromycin works. When it doesn't, Levaquin takes care of it. No side effects seen last three times I took it, or this time. I tore an Achilles' tendon 13 months ago playing racquetball (didn't stretch enough) so I checked with my surgeon. He OK'd Levaquin. Sorry for those who have had side effects.

I had a very bad experience taking this medication, after 4 days, the symptoms of the pneumonia were gone, but the horrible pain in my shoulders was there and a month later, It has improved due to cortisone shots in my shoulders, but still there. Unable to fasten my bra in the back and cannot lift my arms over my head without pain. Would not recommend this medication if there is an alternative.

Two days on 750mg and it is 4am and no sleep second night. Bloody mucous diarrhea, headache, constant buzz in head, terrible stomach, heartburn, aching neck and shoulders, fast heartbeat, sweating and high blood sugar. I just thought I was sick until I started this.. now really sick. Will not take another dose. Am wondering why my doctor thought I had bronchitis.. he never listened to my lungs. I went in for flu relief.

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION !!! This was the first time I had been sick in years but got pneunomia with sinus infection and bronchitis. Shoulder pain started on day 4 of medication and continued to get worse. Now is chronic pain and may be facing surgery. This medication should be removed from the market.

Prescribed 750mg, once a day pills, for a respiratory infection. Sore throat and congestion cleared quickly but the side effects of this medicine are very real. Stiff joints, stomach discomfort and terrible insomnia/nervousness. I do not recommend this medication unless you have a severe infection as the side effects were very troubling for me. I was only able to complete four days before I threw it away. I will not take again, ever.

After 7 weeks of allergies, I was getting worse and worse and ended up with bronchitis. My PCP treated me at 2 weeks, then at 4 weeks and again at 7 weeks. Nothing worked and I was just getting worse. She finally referred me to an ENT who prescribed Levofloxacin.I was scared to death to take this antibiotic after reading all the reviews, but the night before I began the script, I truly thought I was going to die because my coughing was so bad and I couldn't breathe. Couldn't get air and couldn't stop coughing all night. I began the pills (500 mg)in the morning. By afternoon, I was already starting to relax and could rest. I just returned to the doctor today after 10 days on the meds. Cough is gone!! I had endured 9 weeks of bronchitis which got worse and worse. On this med, I felt an improvement each day and now, only nasal swelling remains. I took the meds in the morning and I was able to sleep... and when I couldn't it was just because I was sick, not a result of the meds. I did have a taste in my mouth as some reviews mentioned, but don't know if it was from the meds or my inhaler, or just the nasty stuff in my bronchial tubes. Not a big deal. Some reviews talked about tendon issues... I had none of that. The fact sheet on the meds said that some of the side affects could be worse for people on steriods. I had just had a cortisone shot in my shoulder, an epidural shot in my spine, a steroid shot for the bronchitis from my primary care physician, a steroid inhaler and 5 days of Prednisone: I was FULL of steroids, and very apprehensive of this med. I did take magnesium and drank lots of water to try and ward off any side affects. I am so glad that my doctor, an ENT, saw how sick I was and that he prescribed this med for me. It was the perfect dosage and perfect drug to help me and has made me well again. I highly recommend this drug and would gladly take it again if I had similar symptoms. Read More Read Less

horrible side effects was in the ER within 6 hours of 1 dose. Caused severe anxiety, insomnia, dread, panic, anger, fear, tremors, confusion, rapid heart beat, tingling in my hands and feet, feeling of surges in my arms and legs, feeling like I would die. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG! Left me with a lingering headache 5 days later, some confusion and concern about lingering effect. I only took one dose.

Had no side effects that I noticed. I was very sick. The urologist said the hospital doctor prescribed the meds for too long a period of time, but I did get better. Strange for him to say, when he was supposed to be in charge of this hospital induced infection.

Levoquin has saved my life on more than one occasion. In my opinion it is the best antibiotic for treating lung infections. Doctors may be hesitant to prescribe it at first because it is strong and may try you on another one. But if that fails, then levoquin should be next. There have been several times when I had to go on more than one round to finally get rid of the infection. But eventually it always proves to be highly effective in ridding me of the bacteria.

I have never had a medication reaction-but did this time and will NEVER take this again. I had severe pain in my knees, ankles and fingers and all other joints were achy. I took 5 of the 7 pills and infection cleared up but the side effects have lasted for over 6 weeks. After 5 days on the med, I could not bend my knees and if I was forced to sit, I was in excruciating pain to get up. After several weeks I could push myself to a standing position. I feel like I have arthritis now. This is a serious side effect. Read More Read Less

After 3 rounds of different antibiotics and more than a month of suffering from a severe sinus infection, my doctor had me try this. By the 3rd day I was already 75% improved and so very grateful. The only side effect was a little insomnia the first 2 nights.

OMG, this stuff is absolutely AWFUL.. I hate to say I am glad to read that I am not the only one who had strange reaction to this stuff. I have a really bad sinus infection and cough, took it and immediately had issues.. chest was tight and I could not breath, took a Benadryl and things got worse. a huge headache and pain in my chest throat and arm with the head thing. it was so scary I almost went to the E.R. I could not sleep, omg this stuff is nasty and I am calling the Doctor ASAP and getting off this. One dose was way to much. thanks for all your sharing on this I, feel a bit better knowing I was not imagining the crap that was going on. NO MORE this should be banned. Read More Read Less
