I am allergic to the pennicilian family and was taking this for a bronchitis and sinus infection...I just finished my last dose after 2 weeks. The first 2 days were instant relief but it plateaued so quickly and by the end (today) I am right back to where I started. The joint pain has been quite uncomfortable, mainly my wrists, fingers, and shoulders. I think I will stick with cipro or bactrim in the future. I was told this would work quickly, but I will not opt to take it again.

This is my 4th day on this med for a sinus and bronchial infection. I'm experiencing nausea, headache, dizziness and overall maliase. Miserable! I'm calling my doctor tomorrow.

I am like another poster who cannot take penicillin and love this antibiotic for its effectiveness. However, this last time around taking it, I have had joint and muscle pain and extreme "tiredness". In fact, I think my knees are swelling a little (not usual for me) and my left pinkie toe has been hurting, even when I just sit. I have also had lower back and right hip pain. None of these aches and pains are normal for me at all. I have one more dose tomorrow, then I'm hoping these side effects will wear off! After taking lexeprophin for 2 days I started to experience tendon and joint loss. I feel like I am an old person because my body is being pulled along due to this pain in my arms, elbows, knees, and shoudlers. I would NOT reccomend anyone to take this in the future due to the severe joint pain. I am only 23 and it has made me feel so old and stiff. I also have a heart condition and this drug is bad to take with that. Even after telling my doctor that I had this condition he perscribed it for me.. and then looking at posts online with this severe tendon damage and the aches and pain I have been having I became suspicious. I called my heart and regular doctor and they told me to stop taking the medication immediatley. I hope that I can get better after all of this pain!! Read More Read Less

I had a cervical fusion in my neck and a donar bone put in. I guess that is why I was given this medicine to counteract any possible infection. I was glad to see my incision healed well and all is good except for some side effects. My thumb has hurt me since day one and as time progresses it is getting worse not better. Having trouble using my right had to grip anything even as simple as a doorknob. I have been having trouble with soreness in my knee which got worse yesterday and I had trouble sleeping last night because of it. All I did was bend down to pick something up and I felt a pain in my knee. Before this it was only somewhat bothersome. Also the muscles in my hip area and lower back are bothering me more than usual. I wonder if there is something that can be taken to counteract some of these side effects so that no permanent damage is done to the ligaments and muscles?Read More Read Less

I have Diverticulitis. I was told by my PCP this works better than Cypro, which I normally use when I have a flar up. Last itme I used it, I had decreased urin and muscle cramps.

I noticed almost immediately after taking my first dose that my muscles in my joints were extremely sore. I also have absolutely no energy. I'm on a ten day dose at 500mg. I just hope it works to get rid of this nagging infection!

Started taking after Azithromycin made me vomit. Treating case of campylobacter bacteria. Made me very dizzy, but dr. prescribed Antivert which has helped a lot, but makes me tired.

Have used several months ago at 500mg/day for diarrhea and am now taking with metronidazole 500mg/3x day for diverticulitis. Was diagnosed two years ago for diverticulosis. No side effects after one day with the latter med. Seems to work so far but will have to see after another 2-3 days.

I took this medication for 7 days, once a day, for pneumonia. before this medication I was on the same, only at a lesser potency. This time it was 750mg. After taking this medication I am left with severly aching joints and lower back. I would not opt to take this again if needed for this fact of the achy joints and pain. I am only in hopes that this pain will go away as well. I am 60 years old.

I started taking this medicine after my doctor put me on penicillin for what she thought was strep throat. My symptoms got worse then she changed me to VTAP ( I think thats what is called). After a few day some of my symptoms got better but I still couldnt breath well. My doc sent for a chest Xray and it was discovered that I had pneumonia and not strep. So my doctor changed me to levaquin and it seemed to help. It seemed to be a slow process however and even after completing the treatment I still felt like I needed more medicine to help with clearing the bacteria out of my lungs. I was given this medication for an eye infection - I am allergic to penecillin, amoxicillan, and sulfa drugs. It has worked well to deal with the eye infection, but at about day 8 or the 10 day course, i noticed my joints (esp hands, wrists and elbows) starting to ache. Even simple tasks caused discomfort. I am hoping that these side effects will go away as the medication disipates from my system.

I am diabetic. I developed a blister on the top of my right big toe. Sore was not infected but I was prescribed this med in order for the sore not to get infected. I am on my 7th day of a 10 day regimen. My muscles ( especially the ones in my biceps and shoulders) are sore and extremely tired. I have no energy at all. I poop out just walking around in my apartment. I have to force myself to get up and move around. I feel almost the same way I did when I caught hepatitis over 30 years ago.Read More Read Less

I have recurring cellulitis in lower leg. Initially treated in hospital 5 years ago using IV antibiotics. Cellulitis recurs now about every 12 months. Levaquin works effectively on mild case, completely ineffective for more severe cases. I am presently on 3rd 10-day course with Levaquin (prescribed by general practitionaer) for lower leg cellulitis, and it has had no effect. Am seeking further treatment from infectious disease specialist.

I have dry eyes, still very conjested, seem to be having bladder issues now, constant urge to urinate. Beginning to feel my muscles in arm at night swell and a little tender. I'm stopping the med today. I was prescribed 10 pills & have taken 3 so far.

This medication cured my Bronchitis/Walking Pneumonia that the Z-pack I was prescribed failed to cure. However I seemed to have developed a rash on my neck that resembled poison oak after taking it. Supposedly that's a serious rare allergic reaction. Now I'm going back to the Dr for the third time. joy.

Day 3 of 14 day treatment... My whole body aches, still coughinglike crazy, actually think I feel worse today than three days ago.
