I was prescribed this med to help with racing thoughts and it has worked wonders. It has controlled the thoughts and I do not drink nor crave alcohol at all. It is a miracle drug and it is a great weight management pill to boot. Two thumbs up!

After taking Topamax for the first time, it made me feel extremely strange. I got a tingly feeling in my entire head, it gave me a headache, and my whole body felt extremely fatigued. I felt more spaced out than usual, too. It was terrible so I called my doctor that day. He said "You need to try to push through the side effects, they'll subside after a few days." Well, let me tell you, they did no...

I was put on this medicine as an addition to another for epilepsy, and not only were the side effects horrible, but it did nothing to help stop my seizures. I had no appetite, was extremely depressed, and had difficulty finding words, which, even though I have been off of it for a few years, I am left with that same speech difficulty.

If you can get past the initial side effects, ie. numbness, tingling it is all worth to have the migraines under control. Don't get me wrong I hate how stupid I can feel sometimes when I can't think of a word I'm trying to use, but overall it is worth it. =)

I was put on this medication as of treatment for bipolar disorder, at the same time as being diagnosed with bulimia, it not only helped stabalize the moods (along with abilify, an anti-psychotic categorized drug). It was very effective. I have since used other medications for my bipolar, but continue with topamax as a migraine preventative.

I am also taking Topamax to try and lessen my migraines, which is the reason I switched from my other anti-convulsantant (Dilantin - which did nothing but cause more headaches).

Fatigue was a bothersome side effect but decreased after several weeks of taking the medication.

Topamax has been the best med I have used by far. I am not on any other Epilepsy drugs. I have used other drugs in the past that did not work for me. I have less headaches and no shaking and auraes, panic attacks. I do get dizzy sometimes if I dont eat with it. All in all I love this drug. A lot better then Dilantin and/or Tegretol.

Only problem I had was that my kidney function was adversly affected - which may have been partially my fault, because I did not drink enough water.

I started this medication with zoloft for the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders. It has worked very well. My doctor has used it on previous patients with similar conditions as mine and had great success. I highly recommend it for this type of use. It has also helped my migraines greatly.

I was having migraine headaches that lasted 2-3 days long 4-5 times a month. I now may get a migraine headache that I can control and get rid of within a few hours about once a month.

I have epilepsy and suffer from migraines. Topomax did nothing to help my migraines. It was effective to lessen my seizures but I was often confused when using this drug. I no longer take topomax.

I took this with Depakote and Zyprexa for Bipolar Disorder. My doctor prescribed me the cocktail after one visit. I didn't need medication at all; I needed diet and exercise. The combination of medications made me feel apathetic, foggy, and generally useless. I was still depressed and having swings in mood, but I just didn't care anymore. Resort to medications like this as a last resort.

I personally had almost all side-affects of this drug dealing with pain and acids. Also, I dropped weight but retained alot of water and my joints swelled up, but my migraines went away.

Considering the amount of side effects I have had to put up with, I am not satisfied with this drug. I was told by several neuro docs that it was so great and it ended up being a total let down because thus far it has not controled my migraines nor seizures to my satisfaction.
