I have been taking Opana ER 40mg Tablets every 12 hours for chronic pain. I think that it is the best around the clock opioid pain medication out there. I have been taking Opana ER 40mg Tablets every 12 hours for chronic pain. I think that it is the best around the clock opioid pain medication out there. I have been on Oxycontin, MSContin, Methadone(for Pain), Dilaudid, and fentanyl, along with oxycodone 30mg IR tablets as needed four times a day. The Opana ER has worked way better and actually lasts very close to the 12 hours that it is supposed to last for, with the exception of the fentanyl patch that last for up to 72 hours, I think the Opana ER outlast all of the other pain medications that are prescribed for around the clock pain treatment. I also notice that the medication balances itself out very well, I dont expierence a big burst of medicine within the first 2 hours and then nothing after hour 6 like I have noticed with other drugs like Oxycontin, Opana ER is very level you get the same amount of pain relief for the duration of the pill. I also have less break through pain than I have in the past when I was prescribed Methadone, and Dilaudid. I still take Oxycodone 30mg for break through pain, but not as much as I did with the others. The only down side I would say about this medication would be if you dont have insurance it can be very expensive, as far as i know there is no generic form of the Opana ER and in the early part of 2012 Endo (the company who makes Opana ER) reformulated the drug to an abuse proof form and got a new patent on it, so it will more than likely be very pricey for a few more years. I know for 60 of the 40mg tabs it is close to $1000, I am lucky my insurance company picks up the tab. I do think however that the new pill form (the abuse proof pill) works better now than it did before they made it abuse proof. I hope that this may help anyone who is in chronic pain.Read More Read Less

it affected my attitude and my tolerance for tense situations and did not do anything at all for the pain I suffer. I was switched to this in the place of MScontin 30mg because drug stores in my area were back ordering. I also take Hydrocodone 3.7/325mg.

I have a very high drug tolerance(wake up during surgery under anesthetic, etc.)and have had chronic pain for over 20 yrs. Opana is the only thing that has been able to provide me any relief to give me any of my life back. I take a fairly high dose (40 mg of ER 3x daily, 10 mg IR 5x daily) and its the only way I can function every day. I know it's not a perfect solution, but at least I can work part time, take care of my family, etc. without this med. I could not stand to be in my own body. I have taken every medication out there prior to this. Also, I didn't start on this dose. This was after years of taking it. I really have no choice. I have had 2 back surgeries, 5 knee surgeries, 1 hip surgery, and I have a lot of other things going on also. This is my only choice. Don't let anyone give you Soma!Read More Read Less

I have Chronic pain and i would NOT suggest for anyone to take this medication unless they have cancer or similar ! I was prescribed this medication for over a year and I could not function of a human being in public nor could i breath proper, I was put on oxgen just to be able to breath proper, I also lost most of my site in my left eye due to this medication (almost legally blind). When i asked to be taken off this medication my doctor was upset and asked why so my reply was geeze i would like some kind of medication to work if i were to get cancer so in return he put me on a suboxin plan for 2 days then kicked me out of te clinic ! I was sick for 2 and a half months from withdrawls from this medication . I would not suggest anyone to take this mess unless you have cancer.Read More Read Less

Horrible. Kaiser hooked us 'members' on Oxycontin and now is playing musical chairs: "here, try this or this or this; just don't exceed 60 mg per day". Well that's great after being on 80 mg Oxys 4 Times a day.... All in all the Opana is the single worst pain reliever they've Rx'ed me. Total crap. It is advertised as 'impossible to abuse', but then again, I've never abused any of the pain drugs I've purchased, so what do I care about the abuse angle? As it is, Opana is a 'slow release' tab. But how it works is this: You feel zero relief for an hour or so, and then very minor relief for an hour or so and then nothing again... Wow. Thanks for nothing. Whiskey is a better pain reliever than this garbage. I hope it works better for others, but for me Opana is garbage.Read More Read Less

Since I began taking Opana Er 10mg TID, it has helped to control my pain like no other medicatin has. I suffer from chronic back pain that limits what I do in my daily life. The Opana ER gives me back my daily life with less pain and a free spirit.
