I was given this medicine right after my bilateral mastectomy. The first time I took it, I experienced very painful heartburn. I thought that perhaps I hadn't drank enough water with it, so I continued to take them. I had heartburn with every dose and decided it was time to call the doctor. I was prescribed Clindamycin two years ago for my teeth- had to have a root canal. A couple days after I was taking the medicine (2 pills a day) I was very sick. After I took a couple bites of food I was in the bathroom. I kept taking it because I was told to stick with the medicine. I was prescribed this drug (300mg 3x/day for 10 days) to address an acute sinus infection caused by a failed dental implant. This drug is VERY harsh on the stomach even when following all directions and you should definitely take this with food to minimize the side effects (cramps, burning, bloating, nausea without vomiting, and frequent "urgent" loose bowel movements).
