I had a toothache, dental infection of my gum with pain and swelling. The dentist gave me this saying the infection needed to go down before she worked on the tooth. I took two 500 mg doses and the next morning my gum felt really different. The swelling totally went down and the pain was gone. That was the end of the infection. I finished the meds week of meds I had. Totally worked in 16 hrs ... Show Full Comment

I was prescribed this medication along with another antibiotic for diverticulitis. I am 8weeks out with a total rt hip replacement. Within 3 days, movement was slow and somewhat painful accompanied by a sharp eye pain and nagging headache. I was achy, listless, feverish, coughing, and had a sore throat for several days when I decided I should see a doctor. He prescribed a ten day regimen of cephalexin - 500mg, 3x per day. It did the job quickly and effectively with no side effects or other distresses. I'm surprised that others had so many problems.

One day after starting this med I developed sever upper back/neck pain. Realizing the only change in my day was this med, I stopped it after 4 days. However the un-nerving pain in my neck remains and it has been 5 days since I stopped. Wonder when this pain will go---now I am taking lots of pain meds to get through the day. Hard to sleep.
