Of course, medications react different on all people. The 1st time I took it (4mg tablet), I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and passed out. I yelled out for my husband as soon as I felt the blood draining from my head. We called the Doctor the next morning and he said, “this is not the type of med you take to function, including walking”,:-), at least not in the beginnin...

Terrible nightmares! I had a bad experience with this drug. It seems like a psych med rather than a muscle pain med. I had severe anxiety that came suddenly after taking this crap and it is useless for muscle spasms. I used Soma for over 7 yrs with no problem, no addiction, no adverse side effects, no dependency other than I took it because it WORKED. Take it from me, this Tizanidine puts u in a T...

Instruction ever have been approved for the market and if it is, it should be a controlled substance. It is one of the most dangerous drugs I’ve ever seen just look at the side effects. Look at the interactions. Look at what it does to patience and it is not short acting for God sakes. How did this drug get there who is profiting this is another OxyContin, spam, sham benzodiazepines and opiates are so much safer and most of the time any poor schmuck taken this damn Drug is also on acetaminophen. Oh guess what is liver toxic? Why don’t you do some studies on how many doctors actually monitor that stuff because I can bet you listen 2% to , yeah I got up and collapse on the floor the other night unable to get up at all. I sat on the floor in this hotel for half an hour then I had to call the front desk and get people to put me in bed but I was afraid that I had broken my foot ankle tibia and knee so we called an ambulance at three in the morning . What the hell is this Drug doing approved and let’s prosecute all the doctors prescribing it. For what it’s worth folks this is this class of drugs. The alpha two Agnes are the main drugs that we use to sedate horses, dogs, cats, and the occasional camel cow and goat but it a much lower dose and how does it work? It makes them unable to move. They just stand and stare at you and their heart rates go off the charts why why do their heart rates go up Because it drops their blood pressure so low that they have to compensate by increasing their heart rate and it makes them pee like race sources elevates their their blood glucose and totally screws with them. They don’t respond in a way like Terry just because they can’t, they’re awake away and immobilized. How unfair is that? So if you want a horse tranquilizer, this is your drug, but for God sakes go complain to your doctor and tell him to put you on a benzo or something that’s actually safe. This is also addictive guys and you will go through withdrawal and you have to be titrated off of it so don’t believe the sham crap. Somebody is making some big bucks here. Regarding the next question I am both a patient and a professional and RN and a DVM.Read More Read Less

This medication ruined my life. I took it for about a month. Was not explained medication or side effects. Ended up in the er 4 different times. Suffered a stroke from it interacting with my other medications. Checked myself into inpatient from extreme anxiety. Completely ruined my vision. Was a completely healthy 30 year old that was newly engaged. Now I am a shell of myself and suicidal.

Prescribed 4m tablet to take in the evening for sore joints -lower back, hips, shoulders to help me sleep.. I was cautious and took half tablet after dinner. Got very drowzy and napped. , It did help me sleep during the night. I usually toss ad turn and wake up because of the pain. Next day though still drowzy and found myself to be very irritable and quick to anger. I talked with my doc and she said that 4mg is the standard dose. I. tried the 4mg tablet and the feeling I had was very disturbing. I almost went to the ER. After several hours it subsided. I will not take a 4mg tablet again.. 1/2 tablet will do and I have even broke some down to 1/4 tablets Those seem much better for me and I am not as irritable the next day.. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication for sciatica in the right hip/leg and it works amazing. I take a very low dose (1mg in the evening) and it helps tremendously with the pain and allows me to sleep. I only take for 1-2 weeks on average. Only side effects I have are drowsiness, hence why I only take at night and I do notice some mild memory issues...not that I can't remember just not as "quick".

I've had chronic shoulder neck and back pain for years. It had gotten worse due to a spinal fusion in my neck. This is the best medication I have ever had. I can't believe my doctor hasn't given it to me sooner.

I have RA I have muscle pain alot prevents me from restful sleep. Been taking this med on and off 5 yrs. Noticing it causes irritability the day after and escalation in bickering with my spouse. I want peace in my life unlike this med which brings on recurring unwanted nightmares and irritability. No thanks. Next.

This medication was prescribed for me to help me sleep and relax the muscles in my lower back. It does help me sleep but gives me wierd dreams and nightmares. In my nightmares there are people that I haven’t seen in years, rooms that I just want to get out of but can’t. I’ve been on it for a few weeks and have decided to not take it anymore. I really do not have severe pain anymore since getting injections and if I do get any pain during the night I will take Tylenol. This medication will make someone go crazy. Read More Read Less

Side effects were dizziness and terrible nightmares. Even dreaming of previous nights nightmare continuing into current vivid dream. As if the dream continued like a series on a television show. Also I read it’s addictive. Stopped taking after one week.

I was prescribed this medication for chronic neck and back pain that I've had since getting out of the military. My doctor also thought it might help me to sleep through the night which I hadn't done in years. I took 4mg at bedtime, which the label instructs to do, and slept like a baby. After a couple months of usage, I found that I was waking up here and there through the night and I started taking it along with a Tylenol PM. It works for ME! I don't take both every night and there is some drowsiness in the morning when I do, but I'm still able to get up and get going. Use this medication as prescribed and do not mix with other drugs or alcohol and I feel you will see good results. I haven't been back to the chiropractor since I started using it.Read More Read Less

My doctor prescribed this medication for me off-label in order to help with sleep, hoping for the added benefit of helping with muscle stiffness due to lupus. I take a 4mg tablet nightly, and follow up with another half tablet (2mg) later, if I haven't fallen asleep by a certain time. I switched to this medication after taking cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) but finding the dry mouth too intolerable. For my purposes, tizanidine generally does the job. Most nights, it works well and gets me to sleep without making me feel too woozy; however, I've found my reaction can be variable. Every so often, I feel very sleepy, almost drunk, but other nights, I find myself taking an additional 2mg and am still up until 3am. I've yet to find a pattern to when this happens. Regardless, the sedating effects are too strong for me to take this during the day for relief from muscle pain. I tried once to take just 2mg and was far too tired. I think I'm able to get some relief before I fall asleep, at least. There are some side effects, although I've decided on balance they're worth it. To note, I take many other medications, so that probably affects my experience. 1) I get dry mouth and increased thirst with tizanidine, but only about an hour after taking it. With cyclobenzaprine, I had these effects 24/7 once I was on it. 2) I didn't know that hallucinations were possible until I had one after taking two full doses. That caught me off guard, but now that I know that's what they are, I don't find them disturbing. They usually aren't frightening in content (e.g., numbers when I close my eyes, waving vines, dancing animals), they're brief, they're very infrequent, and I'm aware they're not real when I'm having them (even when I'm half-asleep). I don't tend to have these unless I take 6mg. Read More Read Less

I was taking 4 mg tizanadine when ever needed in between my neuroma injections for nerve damage in my inner thigh. The muscle spasms were wreaking havoc in the thigh area firing off like the 4th of July, tizanadine was my hero for almost 2 years straight and 900 mg gabapentin 3x daily. Then I changed into a different person, yes injury made me depressed but what happened I can never explain. I lived in a different world where my thoughts raced and were constantly looking for answers that didn't exist, and when I got the answer I had a voice that always went against my true self. My marriage was almost destroyed, no one caught no matter how much I said I feel something different in me and want to die because I can't control it, they all thought just depression. Fast forward sleeping in my van, with divorce papers on file for the second time. While I have money to stay in a hotel because I hate my life and deserve waking up to 10 degree weather in the back of a tin can. I decided to crash tizandine as a last resort to save my family we had worked so hard for almost 16 years to create, in the back of my van. About 5 days later my vision starts clearing up was always paranoid I couldn't see good when driving constantly checking my mirrors, and I finally went over 60mph I felt like Ricky Bobby but I was back in life again and I could feel and see it. I have a lot of damage to repair but my wife is happy to have the real me back, she divorced who I had became not who she married. I will deal with the pain it's not worth what happened to me. I don't blame anyone, you can't tell how each drug will interact with everyone and I think I may have been one of the rare cases here. Read More Read Less

I was rear-ended at a high speed (40mph), and in addition to massive injuries to my right shoulder and whole upper right quadrant (i was leaning on the console when I was hit), I suffered ten herniated discs, two of which are bulging. 4 cervical, 2 thoracic, and 4 lumbar/s. I had massive muscle spasms. This medication decreases them to almost none. I take 4mg tablet x3 a day. My doctor combines it with Meloxicam 15mg 1x a day. I was taking methocarbamol but that did nothing for the middle of the night seizing of my legs, due to my spinal injuries. But those symptoms didn't manifest for a few days. Once they did, he switched to the Tizanidine. It was mostly my upper right quadrant, that was spastic before that, as multiple muscles and tendons were torn/smashed in front and back. I'm 57, 5'4" and about 140lbs. Overall, the combination is working well. (I do not take any other medications. My blood pressure, heart and all are aok. I have no diseases or ongoing illnesses of any kind.) With this medication combo, I'm still functioning and getting to a part-time job 5x a week. I do sleep really well at night too. There is one concern though, and that is judgment and perception, so be extra on guard if you have to drive. Even after you get used to it, because it does make you susceptible to distraction. Try to avoid busy intersections and high traffic times of day. I've been taking it for a month now, so believe me, you still have to be cautious when driving or using any kind of dangerous machinery. ie., You could lose fingers if you get distracted. And it can happen really fast. I caught myself a couple of times doing something that could've ended badly, just because of a second of poor judgment and poor perception. Read More Read Less

Plz DO NOT take this medicine with Aleve over the counter meds. I laid down an soon as it started to take effect usually in 10 to 15 min. I started seeing scary things floating thru my room, my purses floating in the air, witches an scary looking trees, I also saw on 2 diff times taking this, a man standing at the foot of my bed watching me, but the 2nd one had a knife he was sharpening on a whet stone, I was so scared I had a panic attack before I could get the lights on, an I when I came to I was screaming my head off for someone to help me. I jumped up turned every light in my house on, checked the doors an windows all were still shut an locked, but I couldn't go BK to sleep an kept the lights on for a WK at night time an stopped taking this med. I really thought I was fixing to die an it was all because of this med, and let's not forget it making me pass out in the hallway, get dizzy an lightheaded, an I didn't even try to drive more than 5 min.because I was falling asleep at the wheel my friend made me pull over an he drove an he said I was out cold an snoring in less than 5 min.Read More Read Less

Dr prescribed tizanidine for muscle spasms due to chronic back issues following L5S1 fusion in 2016/2017. My only complaint about this medication is that it makes me drowsy during the day.. Dr switched me to methocarbamol to eliminate drowsiness. First we tried 500mg, it was not effective. Then we tried 750mg, and its still not effective. I would rather deal with side effects of tizanidine, then to take a medication that is not at all effective. My recommendation is to purchase the tablets vs the capsules. I break tablet in half once muscle spasms start and wait 30 to 45 minutes to see if it helps. Depending on the severity of spasms, i may need to take other half. Half a tablet of 4mg tizanidine is much more effective than 750mg of methocarbamol (for me)Read More Read Less
